Fun location for this McMenamins out in the farmlands. The interior is very rustic and is quite cozy. Food consists of standard McMenamins fare, I always get at least a ruby beer and a basket of tater tots. Come here if you want to go somewhere that has good food and atmosphere away from the city.

I have to share this story, and I'll try not to make it TOO long, although I do tend to write way too much.
My family had a farm in Wilsonville and I hadn't been out there for a long time, so a friend and I took a drive to see the old homestead. To my shock and horror, the house and barn had been torn down and replaced with about 15 McMansions. I was crushed.
About six months ago, I was talking to a guy who grew up in the area and told him the sad plight of my grandparent's house and barn. He said, "I worked on that project. The old barn was salvaged and used to rebuild the Rock Creek Tavern." I can't tell you how excited I was! MY BARN LIVES!!!
On Mother's Day, my three kids took my mom and me there for lunch and it was like a blast from the past. I played in that barn when I was a kid, and I have so many wonderful memories of the hay loft and feeding the cows and weighing things on the big scale that grandpa let us use as long as we were careful. And now the barn wood graces the interior of the Rock Creek Tavern.
Oh, and this place has perfectly reasonable food, too. :-)

Growing up in Southern California you're taught that Oregon is basically trees. Trees upon trees upon trees. They stress rural so much that in a budding mind you can't seem to fit a city into the mess of reported trees.
That said, I've been waiting to find a place like this since moving here. I think the Holiday season is adding a slight bias but this building is beautiful. You get the dinner-party-at-a-friend' s-house-who-just-happ ens-to-live-in-the-boons kind of vibe and that feeling will keep me coming back here every now and then to relive that nostalgia. I can only imagine that a summer night on the patio would be just as awesome as a winter night in front of one of their fireplaces.
Truly awesome.
p.s. The server "Andrew" is a rather cool guy. Tip him well, he works hard to entertain you.

I love love love this location! My favorite so far.
very rural. I was worried it'd be packed as the parking lot was completely full, but we walk in and there were plenty of tables.
building and decor rocks, service is great, and i really loved my portabello sandwhich

Who are these other 2 people!? How could you not give this place 5 stars!
GASP! Gasp, I tell you!
This poor tavern actually burned to the ground a few years ago, and the rad people at McMenamins sought out barns built in the same year as the original building, to use the wood in reconstruction. The results are amazing--the tavern feels like something from Lord of the Rings.
Delicious food, beer and environment. Be sure to take all of your out-of-town friends here so they realize that living anywhere but Portland is a dire, dire mistake.
A few notes: I believe they accept credit cards, but if not they do have an ATM. Also, I marked good for kids, but since it is a tavern, the later hours should be sans kids, otherwise it is a fun experience for them too, and I think there is even a kids menu.

Another cool McMenamins building.... Total rural setting. I love that when I hang out here in the spring and summer they have peacocks running around the grounds [I mean, the peacocks are probably always there; I just only go there in the spring and summer.] Same great food/same great beer as the other McMens.
Tip: Farmland and country setting- cool place to ride a road bike; just beware that it's you and traffic sharing the road as there are no bike lanes. Stop here for lunch during your ride.
Just as good as all of the McMenamins with same basic menu and beers, and it's in yet another very cool building. Always wonderful.
