Popped in for lunch while out running errands. Since I was alone I sat at the bar with the very nice and helpful bartender, Steve. He recommended the macaroni and since I was throwing caution tot he wind, I went with it. It was really yummy. Gooey and cheesy and the chicken in it was very good.

I had the porter an the brown ale - both were very easy to drink! I'll be back for sure.

This particular Rockbottom was a frequent choice for small group dinners while working in South Denver.  Reasons? 1) Proximity; 2) Good beer, and 3) a broad enough menu to please almost everyone.  Otherwise it was not what I would call an outstanding place.

By far their worst problem was service, which was often slow and/or infrequent. I understand that the CraftWorks Restaurant Group (which owns Rockbottom, Gordon Biersch, Old Chicago) has been focusing on reducing labor costs recently (don't ask me how I know; I'd have to kill you), but when you make staff cuts, it will directly affect your service level. Duh.

We eventually learned the following trick: The moment our wait person arrived, we ordered absolutely everything (apps, drinks, entrees) up front. It got our food orders in that much earlier, and we didn't have to wait for intermediate return trips to make any progress.

The food was OK; Not bad; not great.
-- Pulled pork sandwich: Meh... and too small ; 2.0
-- Cedar plank salmon: Standard; cooked well; 3.5
-- Jambalaya: not the best, but better than I expected 3.0
    -- Kobe burger: Decent; 3.0

Basically RB fit the bill when a meal and a beer was required. If it wasn't for the beer, I never would have returned after the first visit.

We were trying to go to the downtown Rock Bottom Friday night, but were giving a friend a ride from Centennial and realized it would be easier to just go to the Park Meadows restaurant.  I liked it, but it just doesn't have the vibe of downtown.

It was busy and there would have been a twenty minute wait, but we managed to snag a table in the bar.  They were out of a couple of beers, but they were nice about it and gave us Mug Club sized beers of ones they shouldn't have upgraded to make up for it.  Our server was busy, but still fast and friendly.  The food seemed on par with other locations.  My bourbonzola burger was delicious, but I was glad I ordered it medium-- it came out medium well but still juicy.  My fiancé had a similar situation with his fire steak.  Our friend liked his mac n' cheese.

I would rather head to 16th Street Mall, but if you're all ready south, this is one of the best bets in the area.  I'd go back.

Some of the beers on tap are good, but if your a Colorado micro brewster, it only makes you want to go get some great beers.  Couldn't eat much with dairy probs, but others around seem to like what they got.  Good atmosphere if with some friends getting plowed, but not first choice.

I have good and bad news about this place.
Good news is that the pretzils and BEER is great.
Bad news is that the rest of the food and wait staff is NOT good. Also the prices are very high for the quality of food you get. If I'm going to spend $24.50 on a steak it better be cooked right and not be like a leather shoe to eat.
We had 4 peope in our party and we ALL had to send our food back.
The steak was OVER COOKED 2X and the food was sent out cold 2x.
We ended up paying $50 for horrible food and service.
I guess my clue should have been that it was a Saturday night and the place was NOT busy as that is NEVER a good sign.
I complained to the manager who was RUDE. I won't go back here on my own dime, the manager did give us $35 in gift certificates that I will go back and use on beer and pretzil's, the only good thing on the menu.

I have not been to this place for a while because my last experience is not the best.  I decided to give it a try again but was disappointed that they had not improved the quality of the food.  The waitress there was very pleasure though.  The beer is always good.

We used to go all of the time. Gradually, the servings got smaller and the prices went up disproportionately. They took some of the best items off the menu (TX toothpicks were a favorite appetizer, and they had a Chicken Fried Steak to die for). What's left is decent, and the beers are good. I prefer their stouts and porters to CB & Potts, but like hearty food to go with it. We still go occasionally, but not as much. Some of the staff think they are doing you a favor, and others abuse their coworkers verbally at times. They don't seen to understand that there is no comment out of earshot to a customer. The care and pride in the kitchen doesn't match that of the brewmaster. An the menu just isn't as good any more. We started eating at this location when it was still called the Walnut Brewery. Wish they hadn't sold out.

Good Beer, so-so food, horrible service.  We went to grab some much needed lunch after the IKEA private opening.  We had a group of 6 and the restaurant wasn't crowded.  Our server was really nice, but suuuper forgetful.  We had to remind him of everything at least twice and he brought our everyone's meal except for mine, which came out about 10 minutes later and wasn't comped.

Come here for the delicious beers...not for food.

Stopped in with family for lunch, it was all timely served and good food.  I had a summer salad with "tangy vinaigrette" ... it wasn't tangy or even vinaigrette, but it was at least inoffensive.  Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals and beers, only major issue was the traffic since this place is right next to an Ikea that is still going through grand opening chaos.

At least it was a beautiful day to be sitting on a patio enjoying a nice salad =D

Rock Bottom Brewery - A Haiku

    Avoid average food.
    Its a beer lovers delight.
    Yay for the Mug Club.

Not much else to say about Rock Bottom. Its a great place to go and have a glass of beer. Their in house brews are really good. From the seasonals to the staples, you can't go wrong with any of them. And they are all reasonably priced (for craft beer). You can do much worse than a growler of your favorite tasty brew.

Other than that, this place is what it is. American Food. Fried. Average. You know what you are in for. Something that will leave you greasy and unsatisfied. Its just another of these restaurants around suburbia built to cater to societies aversion to cooking meals. You can do better than everything here on your own. But this is convenience.

LOCATION SPECIFIC: The park meadows location is tucked away in the back corner of the lot across the street from the mall. Almost underneath the light rail and highway. ITs about what you would expect. There is a lot of parking, but this place gets pretty busy.

I can't believe I've never reviewed Rock Bottom!

As a frequent regular of this joint, it's only obvious that I'm addicted & obsessed with just about everything that Rock B has to offer.

    1. The food is outstanding. Everything from the Ballpark Pretzels, pizza and salads, to their new burgers are delicious. yum!
    2. Their beer is pretty damn good. Being a microbrew lover, i can't help but indulge in their signature beers, that differ at each establishment. i love the buffalo gold & their seasonal beers they have on tap...full of flavor, wide range of styles, free beer on tasting days & beer go :)
    3. The staff is awesome. In the million times i've been here, i've only been disappointed once! super friendly, kind and always willing to hook you up!
    4. The building itself is pretty radtastic.high ceilings with exposed brick & large beams, oak bar, spacious bar seating & a patio that overlooks the mountains.
    5. Every Wednesday & Thursday night is trivia night! easy to plan & easy to win! also, the local brewmaster plays/sings with his band most summer nights on the patio...pretty awesome if you ask me!

Even in trying everything off the menu, i still come back for more :)

It's been about 5-6 years since I've been to this Rock Bottom...and they've upped their game, definitely, since I was here last time.  I like this place.  It's goooooooooood food.  And tasty brews!!!  I basically sampled about 5 beers that my brother, who was on leave, was getting bought by my "financially successful" brother, on top of my own KÖLSCH.  Too many arrows? It's all good.  Mom came in here briefly for an hour but left before it got dark.  I had an *amazing* (freakin kudos to you guys, RB!) "ASIAN AHI SALAD - Ahi tuna atop Asian vegetables, crunchy noodles and spinach. Tossed with ginger-citrus dressing."  Trust me, it was more awesome than it sounds...and it sounds pretty damn tasty, doesn't it?  Lettuce/spinach was crisp and super tasty -- I *never* say that about salad!  About 8 or 9 nice thickness slices of ahi tuna gracing the top of the salad.  Crunchy chow mein noodles.  Dressing of awesomeness.  Trust me, that salad is enough to leave one satisfied as a meal...The beers...Buffalo Gold is the staple there and it's quite wonderful, but so are the red ale, brown ale, and others as well...bafflingly, Rock Bottom's website names all their . *cocktails*, but clearly doesn't name all their beers since they are missing the Buffalo Gold.  Really? (screws up face) Why, guys?  So weird.

They were doing trivia the night I was there with my extended fam too...always a selling point.  Katie R's review is pretty dead-on for this place, as well.

Went for dinner while in town on business. The pale ale was pretty good, the double cut pork chop and fries were not. Chop was a decent-sized portion but the meat was really dry and the raspberry glaze overpowered what little grilled flavor had managed to stick around. Fries were skinny, overcooked and tasteless; reminded me of those shoestring potatoes in a can.

Hopefully their other food is better but steer clear of this menu item!

I've been to Rock Bottom a few times and have never been terribly impressed with the food. They have good beer, and the service is good, but the food itself is blah.

This last time I had a burger and fries, and it was nothing to write home about. And about an hour later I did not feel at all good. Think I'm taking Rock Bottom off the list :)

The food is ok, not great, but better than any of the gross fare served at apple-chili-friday-outbacks.

it's obviously kid friendly - my kids LOVE the make your own pizza.  they have these real good ball park pretzels, but don't offer true spicy mustard - just dijon and yellow.  the salads are pretty good, i find all of them require me to have them hold something, but good.  the emperor's salad is new and good.  the meals are good, but all of them seem to have a cheese - i'd prefer they keep it a tad more simple.

as for the beers- they're real good.  always a nice variety - lately, i enjoy the nut ale, but the red and stout are also very good.  they have a board of the alcohol levels and born on dates - which is a nice touch, since they brew the beers on-site :-)

overall, fun place to dine - even outside seating (which does allow smoking, which is why i dont eat outside)

As far as south denver goes, quality cuisine selection is limited. There are however, a ton of americana sytle restuarants, Rock Bottom Brewery being one of them.

My wife, 3yr old son, and I went on a friday night. The wait was quoted at 25 mins but was only about 15. The hostesses seemed to be a bit on the grumpy side but hey, your entitled to some bad days.

Our waitress was super on the spot and made some great recomendations for our son. She recommended the build your own pizza which was a great interactive thing for my son and furthermore he hasnt stopped talking about the pizza he made at rock bottom, nice reccomendation waitress lady!

My wife got a cobb salad. She wasnt complaining nor was she raving about how good it was so I assume it was average. I got a hamburger that was a bit overcooked and th salad was wilted. I think my salad lacked confidence or something, keep your chin up lettuce.

I digress, the atmoshpere was nice, family freindly for sure. I may go back but its not at the top of my list

Been to this place a couple of times.  The patio is a nice spot to kick back and gab with a friend or two.  Dark old english wood inside with a few TVs at the bar area and plenty of dining area.

The salad with the turkey and the apple was good, yet this bad aftertaste hung around my palate long enough when I awoke in the middle of the night.

The nachos are OK.  Better than the nachos you get at taco bell or don pablos. Not good enough to go here for them specifically.

Great Laredo burger! It was cooked exactly as ordered and the presentation was great. It would have received five stars, but due to the slow service, it warrants only three. Granted, it was prime time on a Wednesday evening, but when you have two small children, speed of service matters! We sat for 25 minutes just waiting for the check.

I like this place. Maybe because we are here often with my favorite father-in-law, OK - my only father-in-law. He is not very mobile and we can always find a table close to the door in the bar.

I like beer. A lot. We long ago joined the "Mug Club" and subsequently get larger beers for simply showing our card. After so many visits and beers they give you free swag. Who doesn't love free swag associated with the holy beer?

Yesterday I had a "Lumpy Dog" beer, smooth and refreshing - did I mention I like beer? OK - I had two. The ball-and-chain and his dad had the Fire Chief Ale - of which a portion of the money goes to firefighters and other first responders. I kinda have a thing for firemen. Shhhh....don't tell anyone, our secret.

We ordered off the special fireman menu, the "Firecracker Shrimp" with a Thai dipping sauce - the plump shrimp were fried to perfection and the sauce was sweet with a hint peanuts. Very good. Presented nicely with chop sticks.

The ball-n-chain and I both had the "Firefighter Steak" $13.99. Don't be fooled into thinking a chain can't do a great steak - that was a great steak - *see uploaded pictures* It was an 8oz grilled sirloin with homemade steak butter. I don't know what they put in the butter but it complimented the steak nicely. Butter and beef and beer. Oh my, I think I need a moment alone, excuse me.

Since it was the father-in-law's birthday we ordered "The Chief's Apple Won Tons" $4.99. I have no sweet tooth but this was great! Really. Warm pockets of crispy fried won tons with a spicy apple filling, topped with powdered sugar along side of a glass filled with ice cold vanilla ice cream and caramel. Perfect.

Our initial server brought our beers but didn't give us coasters so we had water puddles on the table. The tables were a little overloaded with ketchup, sugar, drink menu, a tent selling soft drinks and two place mat kinda things with beer descriptions on them. Our real server, Adam, was great. Best service in a long time, funny, polite, attentive without hovering, and prompt. He even remembered my father-in-law's name - I liked him instantly for that.

Go do your good deed, drink beer and support the firemen.

Went here on a Saturday evening so it was busy.  The beer was pretty good, I had one with fresh hops and I enjoyed that one most.  We tried a few others that were decent but not great.  Like I said, it was busy so there was a long wait for the food.  I had probably the worst prime rib sandwich ever that came with 'au jus'.  It wad thick and off putting.  I ended up eating my onion rings and that was about it.  Everything was way salty too.  To be fair, my kid and boyfriend did like their meals.  This restaurant is nothing special and not worth the prices.

Very... well... how to say, "below average".  Thing is, I've eaten here before and enjoyed it, but today was the last straw.  Hostess was the only good part of the experience, and even she seemed put out by coming to the front.  Food was beyond bland: the pretzels were good, but had more salt on them than a salt lick.  My pasta seriously tasted like they had cooked up a box of linguini, and then tossed a bunch of chopped tomatoes and a bit of grated cheese on it.  More like a bachelor's homecookin' than anything else.  And at $13.50 a plate, heck no.  My sister's meal was very salty, and just honestly looked unappetizing.  Waitress was polite and cheerful, but not very attentive, and very slow.  She kept acknowledging she forgot the salad, but then didn't bring it until after we got our entrees.  In the end, I won't be back.  Plenty of other places nearby for the same (or less) dining dollar that will not leave you feeling like you need a couple big glasses of water and a nap.

Not a huge fan of chain restaurants, but this one is ok.  Great to bring the kids.....nice & loud!  Just don't sit on the patio because that is where they stick all the smokers....icky!  Good beer & decent food.  The prices are a little high, but worth it if you get a burger.  The best burger I've had there is the Bourbonzola (sp??) which is a hamburger w/ gorgonzola, bourbon sauce & onion straws....sooo bad, but sooo good!  Also the Ahi Tuna appetizer & salad are very good.  My husband signed up for the Mug Club & receives coupons for 10 dollars off often.    We go when there is a coupon :)

Taking a break from writing papers and studying for finals on a gorgeous Colorado day, my dad and I decided to grab lunch at Rock Bottom. I've been wanting to try this place out because my sister and her boyfriend rave about it, so I was really excited. Even though it was a nice day, we sat inside so I could get the full feel of the decorum. High ceilings with a view of the brew master attending to his latest batch, furnished in warm wood accented against a burnt red brick wall, the place felt a bit like the old west, but updated! I tried the light lager on tap which was very refreshing with my Laredo burger which had yummy guacamole, pepper Jack cheese, pico de gallo and chipotle mayo. Along with a side of fries, which weren't as thick as I like them but still satisfying, it was a pleasant meal with good tunes playing in the background and a friendly waitress. But they're big portions, so I'm glad I split it with my dad. It wasn't very busy during lunch, so I think it would be a great place to go back to for dinner with friends.
