My daughter has been training with Rocio for a couple years now and she's done amazing things for her voice. Whereas before, she could never hit a high note without cracking, she now has an awesome range. The fact that the lessons are recorded on CD so you can listen to them at home and practice is very helpful. It's like having the teacher in the room again and allows you to hear how others hear you (which is embarrassing for my daughter but it helps!)

Rocio is definitely supportive and encouraging and makes you feel very comfortable with yourself, which is very important when you're trying to gain confidence.

We did take several lessons with Iari who has a wonderful sense of humor but for us personally, Rocio was a better fit as she is "stricter" although not at all mean or overly assertive. She just keeps you on task and doesn't let you mess around. She is also very accessible (email, website, blog) and easy to talk to which is great if your child has any sort of challenges, which mine does.

As she is one of the most acclaimed voice teachers around, I think she's well worth the price!

Rocio is hands down the best vocal instructor in the entire Bay if not the world.  She never makes you feel stupid if your voice cracks while hitting a note, are a tad off-tune during a song or lose your breath at the end of a line (not that that's ever happened during my lessons).  She's fun, makes singing an absolute joy and is a very beautiful woman.  The 1/2 hour lessons are a bit pricey but she WELL worth her weight in pure gold.

So far I've only had two lessons with Rocio's assistant Iari.  I was very nervous about taking lessons to begin with and he made me feel comfortable.  After the first lesson I was hesitant about going back - not because of them, but because I didn't think I could actually ever sing in front of people.  But then I went to the second lesson and had a lot of fun, so I'll keep taking them.  It's pricey, but so far worth it.  I'll update again later once I've taken a few more.

Rocio uses a very different method than most teachers, i would say. She is very nice and she always has these pictures of her really cute baby everywhere. Anyways, since i've been taking lessons with her (5 months or so), the way i sing has changed a lot. She is very very very good and she really knows her stuff.
I will say its pricey but totally worth it. In fact, she just increased her prices, but i still think its worth it.
Over all, its just a really positive experience and i feel confident that I am becoming a better singer.

History

Established in 1998

Founded by Rocío Guitard in 1998, the RG Vocal Studio quickly became one of the most sought after schools for vocal training in the Greater Bay Area. Combining thorough knowledge of Vocal Science and Technique with over 3 decades of Music Study and Performance, RGVS takes great pride in being able to turn amateurs into viable singers (visit the Student Showcase for audio examples) as well as helping professional vocalists further their careers. Rocío's superior technical knowledge has made RGVS the only school endorsed by the Otolaryngologists at Stanford University School of Medicine, helping their patients recover their voices through vocal therapy.

Rocío Guitard has been studying Voice and Music for over 33 years, ranging from Piano, Music Theory and Composition at the Royal Conservatory of Music (Madrid, Spain) to Classical and Contemporary Vocal Technique with several of the world's most respected voice teachers.

She has been a professional singer for over 18 years, with two solo albums to her name and performing/recording from Classical Music  to Jazz , Pop/Rock , Salsa/Latin  and Soul/R&B, therefore understanding the need of a solid vocal foundation that allows her to switch from one style to the next and keep up with a demanding performing schedule.
