We stopped in here before we had to be at the airport to return to reality. What a great decision!! Great way to end our trip with good food, great service and loads of fun!
I had the seared ahi salad. Aside from the excess water in the bottom of the bowl from the lettuce not being drained well enough, the salad was awesome. It comes with a wasabi "ranch" dressing that was excellent but if you're not a wasabi fan, you can always do plain ranch. The ahi had great flavor. The rest of my party had other dishes such as stir fry, shrimp tempura, burgers (they offer turkey burgers to boot), they definitely have a diverse menu and everyone was happy with their selection.
The bartender/server hooked us up on cocktails and was very attentive, we never went without a drink, we even scored a hug before we left!! Hahaha!! We didn't make it for Karaoke or club night but next time we're on the island we'll make this a destination.
Loved the local feel, great food and excellent service at Rob's. We're big fans!! -

Went to Robs for the first time to enjoy some great local music, and could not have been happier with everything. We enjoy typical sports bar food, but were extremely pleased and surprised how much more they offer and how tasty everything was. The steak dinner was A+. As first timers, we felt very welcome by all the locals, made new friends, had superb service, and will absolutely return the next time we're in the area. Oh, and the main reason we came, the live/local music, was right on. Thank you for making us feel so at home.

Went for lunch with the wife. Food was great, the Teri-Burgers are awesome, and so are the fish and chips.

So-so food. What attracted us here was some interesting sounding wasabi burgers. Wasabi with the taste, brah? I had thought the wasabi would be incorporated into the meat. Nah, it's just wasabi sauce squirted on top of the patty, which wasn't spicy at all. They do serve a pretty tasty Poke here, which they mix with marinated cucumber, cabbage and onions. That vegie medley adds a nice crunch to the otherwise chewy dish.
Decor looks like a trailer trash bar, but with surf boards. And I had sworn this place was closed because the windows are completely tinted and hard to determine if the lights were on. The patrons are full of locals and they don't bother you or pick on you for being an outsider.
We went on extremely bad karaoke night. First song we heard "Piece of Shit Car!" That was hi-larious! Two pool tables available, a tiny dance floor and a DJ booth. We saw a table announcement showcasing live music night. "Absolutely no hip hop or rap!" it boasted. I hope they don't keep playing "Piece of Shit Car" all night. -

It wasn't because we were traveling for almost 24 hours..
It wasn't because we were hungrier than should be legally allowed...
It wasn't because there were like a thousand freakin' roosters walking around town, reminding us that chicken is always good...
But...
Our satisfaction with Rob's was clearly due to the fact that this place has the Best Freakin' Burger that I've had... And I've eatten around :o). Please consider this place when you land in Lihue. -

This party was going off. Seemed like mostly locals in there. To tell you the truth it kind of reminded me of trophy lounge in san diego.
Looked like some aunties were getting down with some white dudes. Haha anyways at one point it was only me and my honey getting our groove on on the dance floor, we didn't care cuz we'd never see any of these people ever again. Also was staring at the flyers on the dj booth and saw mark farina was coming to spin. wow i've heard
some of his albums, mushroom jazz in particular, what a small world. -

there aren't many options for night life on kauai.
so, this leaves rob's!! the last time i went, we were celebrating my friend's 21st birthday. as soon as we walked in, the uncles at the bar were yelling at the waitress to card us.
drinks were decent, and prices weren't bad. they had a happy hour going on later in the evening which was pretty good. heineken for $2, etc.
it was a thursday night, and apparently thursday nights are "ladies night"...
the party gets going around 9:30-10PM (but we were leaving by then).
i think they have a theme night every night throughout the week.
the atmosphere is alright; lots of big screen tvs to watch...whatever they have on. pool tables are always fun to play.
the weekends can get pretty busy with all the locals. it's definitely a local bar--if you're visiting from the mainland you might get a few looks at first. -

After a long day of air travel, foot travel, and beer travel (from the store to the rocks to my belly - it's tiring just thinking about it!), I walked into Rob's Good Times expecting a So-So Time. An All Right Time. Maybe a Passably Pleasant Time. You know how it is. Your muscles kind of ache and the day drunk has mellowed into a contented yawn in your blood and you don't need to be entertained, but you do need to be fed.
Oh, but I underestimated Monday night Lihue. Once I made it through the entryway, a man sitting at the bar next to his longtime love, mics in their hands and words drifting knowingly on and off a screen, crooned "Welcome to Rob's Good Times, you guys. Sit anywhere." Leave it to me to stumble upon a karaoke bar during my first adult night on Kauai.
So tucked into a booth with the local Wailua Wheat and JB for comfort, I watched the locals get down with their good time and thusly had a good time of my own. The night started off gingerly, with just the kindly Asian man and his gal at the bar singing together. They started off their set with a couple Hawaiian numbers, but as more people trickled in to take refuge from their Mondays (not an obvious tourist besides the ones at my table in sight), the songs took a 70's turn. I sang along quietly while waiting for the kindly bartender to bring my food. "Horse With No Name," "When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman," "Imagine," "How Deep Is Your Love," "Dreams." By the time the food showed up, the theme had petered out and the Asian guy sang "Just the Way Your Are" - quite impressively - JB turned to me and said, "You know all the words to these songs without looking, don't you?" I replied, "Dude, in my sleep." Then a hyper woman started her rendition of "I Will Survive" to a chorus of swaying hands and whooping cheers and I had to discontinue the explanation of why I am a living jukebox circa 1985 to bob along.
Sadly, my food was a mere OK Time. Bar food - not terrible, not memorable, always improved with beer. No one does bar food like Portland, but before we all get too smug, consider that the Good Times came to a close for me on a Monday night in Lihue to a very sloshed, very gay gentleman singing "When I Was 17." Kanpai, old dude! -

Big fan of Rob's Good Times Grill. Service is always great and friendly. Mostly locals, tend to see a lot of the same friendly faces, kind of like the Cheers of Kauai. I've only been to Rob's during day time trips into Lihue, and for football games during the season. They have awesome specials during football season by the way, awesome chicken wings in a sweet tangy buffalo sauce, and pretty cheap during football games. They also had an awesome bloody mary that came in a Rob's Good Times glass that you can keep, had shrimp, crab leg, pickled green bean, queen olive, and a pepporcini pepper all on a big skewer poked down in the glass. It was a great way to kick off an NFL sunday at 7am. Rob's has some really tasty burgers, and the last 6 months or so have had a sushi night on Sundays and Mondays which was excellent. The poke here is always really tasty too. The only food I haven't been too impressed with was the fried calamari. The tempura batter was waaaayy too thick and heavy, almost like donut batter or something. Overall, a great place to hang out, a bar lover's type of bar, with plenty of flat screen tv's everywhere you turn. I have not tried their breakfasts which they serve on Sunday's during NFL season, but why eat breakfast when you can eat hot wings and drink bloody mary's and cold beer at 7am on game day? I've never been here when the place turns from sports bar to "nightclub" but I've heard it gets packed and the place is booming.

We wanted a fun night out with drinks, music, and dancing on the island and we absolutely got it. Though the surroundings are clearly sports bar sensory overload, the vibe changes for Saturday night and comes complete with a dress code, fabulous service, and a million bouncers and bartenders keeping things smooth and classy. Everyone seemed to be local and the vibe though still casual by mainland standards was fun, slick, and happening. Dress code on Saturday night meant no t-shirts or slippahs, but that didn't stop my sister from getting in-guys outnumber girls here 10-to-1. The DJ was AMAZING with a good mix of familiar and less familiar songs that kept the beat going from the time he got on the tables until we left...too bad we need sleep.
