I've only ever hung out in the bar area, so I really haven't had the full Robokyo experience. Regardless, here's my take, in six exclamation-point-filled bullet points.
-They have good sake! It's tough to find in the area, so that's super awesome!
-Their appetizers are phenomenal!
-The people who work there are funny!
-The atmosphere is kinda cool!
-It's expensive as all get out!
-What a weird location! -

After going here for the first time, I have instantly become a fan. My friends and I went to the restaurant with the intention of getting the Hibachi, but sadly we showed up at 8:30 and the restaurant closes at 9:00. However, the restuarant did accomodate us and told us to sit outside and order and sushi or appitizers we wanted.
Now I am a sushi fanatic. I have been to most of the ones in the area: Saga, Nakama, and even Super Panda buffet has an assortment of sushi. I did not get a fair judgement for Robokyo because I did not know that I ordered a sushi roll that was literally roll in cucumber; I hate cucumber. However my other roll I ordered was good, and all of my friends rolls were delicious as well. On the other hand, compared to Nakama and Saga, I would say this place comes in third for me.
The one thing that did blow the other Japanese Steakhouses in the area away was the ambiance. Sitting at the tables outside was awesome. The bar was right behind us, so we were able to enjoy the conversations of the bar crawlers. It was funny how their conversations were getting louder and louder as the night went on; well, from that I can tell that Robokyo must have a good drink menu.
It was a great first expirence at Robokyo for me. In fact, I am planning to go back this weekend for my mother's birthday. I hope I order some better sushi then. -

Bottom line: The hibachi is good and filling; the "show" not so good. Solid hibachi joint.
Been there once for Linner (tween Lunch and Dinner) and was impressed. Hibachi kung fu style (or is it shogun or samurai?) seems to be an American trademark and I've had it several times before. Normally I go with a pretty rowdy group that revels at the chance for rice wine to be squeezed into our mouths from ketchup bottles. We also engage in child like laughter at the steaming volcano of onion or flying crustaceans (again, flying into our mouths).
I don't think this is one of those places. Our Chef was fairly stern and had a dry humor that almost made a patron pull a blade on him. He felt like a brother to me but that's because I don't quite fit in with the white anglo saxon protestant mold. He did make a couple dead pan jokes that made me laugh, did a rice bowl (with and without) flip that I had never seen before, and voluntarily cooked up the cut off fat tips (with a squirt of lemon) for me that was almost as good as my steak.
No, no, I'm not a fan for the atmosphere. I think the hip, dark interior and the paper mache dragon on the ceiling was too much for the audience- I'm not even sure if music was playing in the background. If it was down in Pittsburgh I think the atmosphere would have been a perfect matchup but in Greensburg, er, not so much.
But the hibachi is good. And filling. And naturally good tasting. Robokyo doesn't reply on dousing the food with it's array of sauces because they are tasty in the first place. The intro salad is a little wet and below par for other Japanese places. The soup was a departure from miso but was an interesting onion concoction. The sauteed mushroom or shrimp appetizer was tasty and savory. And my NY strip, hibachi'd up, was well cooked and naturally flavorful. It's not the highest cut of meat but had a decent balance of chewy with juice in each bite.
Compared to other hibachis (not in Pittsburgh) the food was above average. Not the best I can imagine but solid. I didn't leave hungry or disappointed, just satisfied. My wife's chicken was a little done on the smaller chunks; I think they could get away with bigger slices to alleviate that problem. My iced tea was underwhelming. But hey, Robokyo isn't exactly Tennessee or Texas.
Please don't let the fatty tips go to waste. If you are blowing $20 minimum on going out to eat, don't skimp on the calories. Our Chef charred the fat into gristle nuggets and then glazed it with lemon juice; really adds a flavor plus to the whole meal. -

Worse sushi I ever had. Tried almost all the rolls are over priced and worse ever. Giant eagle has way better sushi. As for the hibachi I would give that four stars it pretty good as long as you get a good cook and not the one that pours salt on everything.

Epitome of the 3-star experience for me. Totally solid, I would go again, but not quite enough to break into the upper echelons of my sushi favorites.
Came here for lunch, and just wanted sushi, not hibachi. This obviously isn't their plan, as I was seated in the bar, with sushi chefs nowhere to be seen. Something does get taken away from the whole experience when you can't see the guys making your food in front of you. Went with a friend, we ordered a good bit as we were hungry and are both totally capable of consuming some fish. It was slow coming out, but not unbearably so. Credit to their special rolls, which tended to be pretty original and almost universally tasty. Both the dragon and red dragon roll were favorites, as was the spider. The cali nuggets were also interesting. The Kappa wrap, on the other hand, was positively atrocious. It's wrapped in cucumber instead of rice, which is an interesting idea, but so much cucumber was used it completely overpowered everything else. Couldn't find the heart to finish it between the two of us, and I literally can't remember the last time I've left sushi on the table. Also, it's definitely overpriced, but since it seems to be the only game in town that's not shocking. Still, paying almost NYC prices for sushi in the 'burbs of the 'burgh is not what I want to do.
It's slow but worth the wait, it's expensive but what are you gonna do? Avoid the kappa wrap and you'll be fine here. -

The best restaurant in a 20 mile radius, hands down. Robokyo chefs cook right in front of you, but with a unique style that made the whole night a truly unforgettable experience. Our chef was a "regular joe" who liked football and had a great sense of humor, so it wasn't impersonal or awkward as Japanese Steakhouses sometimes come off as.
The building itself is absolutely beautiful, with a modern stone-style exterior and a dark, welcoming interior.
And BOY, is their swordfish good. Yeah, swordfish! I said it. -

I have to agree with Josh. My husband and I had a wonderful time two weeks ago at Robokyo. The food was excellent. Atmosphere was great. Our chef Chin made us a wonderful meal. Might I add, she was quite entertaining. The swordfish, steak and shrimp were superb! What a nice upscale quality Japanese steakhouse in the area. We've been waiting for this!

This is probably the only sushi/hibachi Japanese restaurant you'll find in this area and it also happens to be the best! We stumbled across here for a team dinner and ordered both japanese hibachi and sushi rolls. The chefs were very pleasant and cooked our delicious meals right out our tables. The rolls were also tasty and I was actually surprised that the sushi were as fresh as they were for a reestaurant out in Greenburg. The vibe was also ambiant and great for any type of outing whether you're with a group of friends or on a date. I've been coming back here once a month and will keep coming back for the food.

This really isn't the best place to go if you want good hibachi!! I would recommend the sushi and the tako salad. I've been there a dozen times or so and always had good service. Yes I will go again , but not for the hibachi.

A pretty good Japanese Steakhouse. There are several in the Pittsburgh area that are better, but may not be worth the extra drive if you live near Greensburg.

Good habachi for outside of Pittsburgh. Their sushi is not worth the try, and consist mostly of rice. They skimp on ingredients and have you fill up on rice instead. Staff are friendly, atmosphere decor is ok, and fairly clean restrooms.
