Robicelli's Gourmet Market has everything for the everyone: from the most sophisticated gourmand to the average Bay Ridge guy looking for some grub.
Robicelli's has changed the face of food in Bay Ridge offering up hormone and antibiotic-free meats and deli, a carefully edited selection of cheeses to rival Murray's, organic produce, hard to find herbs and spices, grains by the pound, insanely unique and yummy salads, wraps and soups, fresh delievered croissants from Pastis, delicious daily specials and organic baby/kid foods. You can also find hard to get (at least in Bay Ridge) items like Boylan's and Mash sodas.
The married duo who own Robicelli's also have two young children and the offerings reflect that: there is satisfaction guaranteed for the whole family. What one item will satisfy the entire brood? The newly introduced cupcakes baked fresh on the premises by both Matt and Allison (the owners) who are currently engaged in the third round of the best "war" I've ever had the pleasure of being a part of. With flavors like Dulce de Leche with Tres Leches Buttercream Frosting, Bananas Foster- rum soaked banana cake with carmelized brown sugar buttercream The Duckwalk (Blueberry Port)- port infused vanilla cupcake filled with homemeade blueberry jam, topped with marscapone and candied blueberries. The Elvis- Banana cake with peanut butter frosting and brown sugar glazed bacon and the simply sublime Carrot Cupcake the Robicelli's crew has elevated cupcakes to a whole other level. They are so superior to any cupcake from famed NYC cupcake shops you would think that it was all they do! The cupcakes alone are worth a trip on the R train to 86th Street from any neighborhood. While you're in the neighborhood don't forget to take home the vanilla hazelnut rice pudding which is in my fridge pretty much 24/7: it's light, creamy, sprinkled with shaved hazelnuts and scented with just a touch of maple syrup.
My favorite meal?
The Mediterranean Wrap--Roasted seasonal organic veggies, artichoke hearts, goat cheese and homemade pesto grilled toasty on an organic whole wheat wrap with a Mash Blood Orange Soda followed with a Dulce de Leche cupcake with Tres Leches Buttercream.
The Husbands favorite meal?
The Bari--Mortadella & Marscapone cheese with crushed toasted hazelnuts and organic mixed greens with a Boylan's cream soda and the Vanilla Hazelnut rice pudding.
The Baby's favorite meal (7months)?
Happy Bellies brown rice cereal with DHA and a cube of Happy Bellies Sweet Potatoes and Pears.
FYI: They have a nice selection of gluten-free groceries and Meyer's cleaning products. -

So moving to a new neighborhood you dont want to venture too far and risk getting lost and never finding your way home, my husband and I happen to stumble upon Robicelli. We thought the store front looked cute and we walked in. I started to eye the cupcakes but quickly put them back at 2.50 a pop for a mini cupcake. We ended up getting some cold cuts which were not too expensive and that was about it. Their gourmet market did not have much.
We did later on buy one cupcake which was a smore cupcake and I have to say it was good but not for the price. Would I go back and get a cupcake there, sure if I REALLY wanted one and I was in the neighborhood.
