The decor's pretty dated (it reminds me of a pizza place from my late-80s childhood) but the food is fantastic. Pizza is delicious, salads are a little overwhelmingly huge but also great. The meatball sub was a personal favorite as well! Haven't had their pasta yet but it always looks delicious and seems to be a popular choice.
Take out is the usual choice but as long as you don't go during the dinner rush Fri/Sat there's never a problem getting a seat. Highly recommended.
Wait, really you guys? K first of all, we sat ourselves according to the sign, but sat at our booth unnoticed for a good fifteen minutes. In the meantime, a couple took a seat at a table across the way, and was greeted, had their order taken, and was brought salads and drinks before we were brought a pitcher of water.
The server took our order, and we didn't hear from her again until she brought bowls with lettuce, cheese, wilted tomatoes, and suspect salami covered in red wine vinegar - salad. Roughly 60 seconds later, the entrees arrived. Great timing.
I felt so bad for my mom and my grandma, who ordered spaghetti. It was obvious that the noodles had been cooked some time ago and allowed to sit and congeal until served. My mom said her meat sauce was completely bland and that she barely registered any meat in the sauce, and my grandma's pile of overcooked noodles with a can of stewed tomatoes was disgusting. Really, if you're going to put spaghetti on your menu, you should do it better than a college kid with access to Barilla and a can of Hunt's. And honestly, the bread they served it with - sliced white bread with butter and cheese...what?
I had pesto chicken pizza and it was better than their pasta, but still completely bland. There are only so many times you can shake on red pepper flakes and parmesan until it gets silly. The server asked how the food was, and my grandma told her exactly what she thought of her spaghetti. The server's response? "I'm sorry, I don't cook the food".
I'm sorry that we gave them money for the food.

Roberto's = just average.
Very solid pizza that is usually loaded with cheese. I get mine "well done", as I think they tend to undercook them, but my preference is for some golden-brown on top. They have a great antipasti salad that has anchovies, salami, pepperocinis, olives and cheese on it and it goes well with their creamy-italian dressing. They kind of go nuts with the cheese on the salads, so you may want to ask for less if that is not your thing. I've not tried their pasta or lasagna dishes, but I would expect they are at least decent from what I have seen. Overall, the pizza and salads here are consistently good and I have never been disappointed.
I was on Mercer Island recently and thanks to http://Yelp.com I found this gem. It's in a good neighborhood that is building up to be a great location to eat on Mercer Island. I went in for an early dinner. I had the place to myself. The people were young college age and friendly. The food was reasonable and tasted great. I had the Spaghetti and Lasagna combo. It looked like real Italian food. It tasted like real Italian food. It was served with two of the biggest slices of bread I have ever seen and with my soda it cost under $10. Parking was good.
The salad was great but the Hawaiian pizza left me wanting more; I wasn't a fan of the Canadian bacon they used. Cheesy bread was excellent. Awesome mom & pop vibe.
As much as I love Roberto's I definitely think there is better pizza out there. More than anything, I think Roberto's is a great place for Mercer Island high schoolers to get a fun meal. Not amazing pizza so don't get your hopes up. But the servers are great and the prices are not too bad. The environment is fun for sure, but expect to see a few high schoolers in there on a Friday or Saturday. The salads are quite refreshing as well. I would say four stars. But even tony maronies take out has better pizza on the island. The best pizza I have found in the Seattle area, however, is BY FAR tutta bella's. check it out.
I la-la-loooove Roberto's! I've been eating here since I was a kid and it's still delicious. It's a great little family-owned restaurant with basic italian food and pizza but it's the salad that I crave. A huge bowl piled high with romaine, salami, fresh mozzarella, tomato, and topped off with their bleu cheese dressing that I wish they would bottle. Pair it with a pizza or a side of garlic cheese bread and you won't be disappointed.
I love this place! The salads alone are to die for. They have salami, and mozzarella and a great vinaigrette! Their garlic bread is to die for and their pizza's are excellent. They also have great pasta's and such.It has been family run for years, and it a great place to go with a group of friends, or with the family! Definitely one of the better restaurants on the island...in my opinion. Check it out if you ever find yourself there!
Cozy place with great, better than great, pizza. This should be on your short lisf of great restaurants on the Island. Olives and anchovies. Yum!
Was looking for dinner tonight and just happened upon this place. Had a salad that was described by one member of the party as the BEST EVER. Mozzarella, bleu cheese, salami...yum. The Italian sandwich I had was very right sized. Filled me up and didn't blow me up. Very well done. Ice cold mug with the beer was nice also. Outstanding service!!!! Definitely keeping this one on the must return soon list.
So I may be somewhat biased considering I used to work here 2 years ago, but I don't care. Roberto's is great. A very simple menu with items like pizza, spaghetti, ravioli, meatball subs and italian subs. Even though there are limited items, you can get just about ANY pizza topping you'd ever want and they recently added a chicken parmesan sandwich. I always get the italian sub and dip it in their house vinaigrette (WHICH IS DIVINE). Their salads are famous for their large quantity of mozzarella cheese (which, by the way, is grated every morning from fresh mozzarella) on a bed of romaine lettuce (lettuce is also washed and cut every day, fresh for lunch and then again for dinner) with a tomato and salami. They make all their own dressings and honestly their bleu cheese is the best I've ever had. They are very decent priced, for example a soda is only $1.25. A Mercer Island favorite, everyone loves Roberto's. Oh, and they make their own meat sauce too! The only complaint I've ever heard is that they don't have dessert. Who cares. Oh and during lunch they have personal sized pizzas. Oh and yeah, their dough is never frozen either!
