Went here for a wine tasting this morning and it was fantastic. I ended up purchasing some of the Cabernet Reserve which is absolutely one of the best! If you like a wonderful cab then this is the place for you. It's a pretty laid back place too. The owners are very friendly and provided us with all the information that we wanted/needed. This is off the beaten path but it's worth it as the view is outstanding and so is the wine!
While walking to the cozy cabin-like, well-decorated estate you get a view of the small valley where the vineyards are.
All of their offerings were special. They're heavy on the reds, and they happened to turn out a very nice Syrah that reminded me of French Rhone blends. The aromas jumped at least a foot out of the glass and the wine was bright but intense at the same time. I can't stop raving about that one.
This is the only wine club that I belong to. Generally I don't believe in paying for wine that I haven't tasted, but that's how much I trust this one.
Call ahead for an appointment. The tasting includes lots of tasty cheese and great conversation.

This is hands-down my favorite winery in Napa. It's got all the things I love and none of the things I hate about the region... It is family-owned, off the beaten path, has a cozy, friendly atmosphere, and has absolutely fantastic wines.
I'll admit that this might not be for the 1st-timer or casual tourist. Although the views from Spring Mountain are stunning, Keenan doesn't have an impressive facility or an in-depth walkabout tour. At the same time, you can bet you will be given very personal attention by one of the family, and you can discuss their wine making process over a glass of their Robert Parker 90+ pointed wines and a slab of tasty cheese.
I'll readily admit that I enjoyed (and still enjoy) the Cakebread experience now and again - but it feels so manufactured in comparison to places like Keenan. These guys are not snobby about their wines, and the prices are reasonable and always represent top quality. They've got family dogs sprawled on the floor and fantastically plump chairs to ease into while you're savoring the atmosphere and the vino.
Check out Keenan the next time you're thinking of hitting wine country. You will not be disappointed.
