Go to Robert Barbutti's website and you'll understand his gifts. I was part of a recent comedy special with 3 other comics at The Great American Music Hall in San Francisco. He shot us in performance from the balcony, the wings and the floor. It's not easy to get flattering shots of comics while we're yakking and mugging. But Robert had photographic comic timing. I have several great shots in performance that I will use. Robert should work for the Chronicle..oops I forgot newspapers are buh bye.
Robert then had to photograph the four of us hyperactive types and got us all focused for some ace portraits, great angles, great ideas.
Dealing with him that night and ever since has been a pleasure and I would jump at the chance at another photo session with him. -

Robert is a GREAT photographer. As a Realtor, I use him for all of my listings and promotional material. He has a great eye for lighting, and he really understands how to make any listing look its absolute best -- and that's not easy!
I highly recommend him. Very honest, punctual...the real deal. -

Robert is a dream come true!
We've used him twice now to do both event and stock photography, "we" being a fun and very active department in a large, founding BIotech in South San Francisco (hint, hint).
The pictures all come out beautiful. He uses different styles and techniques to produce a wide variety of shots that can be used for different purposes in various mediums. This is great for when you need a lot of photos that you aren't quite sure what you're going to do with yet. Flexibility and versatility of the final product equal serious value.
Aside from all that, Robert is great to work with. He seamlessly integrates his own personal touches and creative energy into the work, while happily taking direction from us artless schlubs. He's got a great sense of humor, is always smiling, goes with the flow, and I can say with 100% certainty that the man has an inhuman amount of energy at 5:30 AM.
Last but not least, he even makes ME look good in photos. And I generally photograph like a slug.
We cannot wait to work with him again. Thanks Robert! -

Mr. Barbutti is the photo man, he does not just do this as a job, it is his life. I have known him for years now and began working with him when he was Photo Editor for Adventure Sports Journal magazine in Santa Cruz, CA. He is always willing to push the envelope of traditional perpective and exposuring to get a truly unique vision.

Robert is AMAZING!!!! I moved to San Fran from Los Angeles and was very particular about choosing who I wanted to create a new modeling portfolio for me along with comp cards and headshots. Robert is such a great guy and makes you feel very comfortable. He is extremely professional but funny as hell! He knows the business well and he knows how to shoot you at just the right angle and lighting to make you look FABULOUS! Coming from LA there is a lot of competition with great photographers but Robert is by far the BEST that I have ever worked with.
If you are looking for headshots, compcards or even a fun professional photoshoot to get started you MUST contact him. I cannot stop ranting and raving about him to all of my friends and he has really helped me get back into the industry by creating amazing shots for me.

Robert did a photo shoot recently for my son for his model portfolio. There are certainly many talented photographers to choose from. What makes Robert a cut above is his ability to connect with people -- to be there for them not only during, but after, the photo shoot.
I called Robert after seeing his web site on SF Casting. I wanted someone "good with children"...and Robert is certainly good with people - period. He is both a master technician and a outstanding creative director. We ended up with so many good shots I couldn't decide which ones to use ! I want them all ! Robert guided me in selecting which ones would be suitable for headshots, and which ones for zed cards. I always say, the true mark of a professional, is someone who will be there for you . we used rob's services while i was working for a pharma comp in Palo alto. He came in and took a bunch of pictures for our upcoming national sales meeting and he was great! He used his creativity and was able to create some great posters, pictures etc for us (of which i still have!). I also brought robert into our office on several occasions and had him take a bunch of "action" shots so i could create a slideshow...it was a joy to work with and i would recommend him to anyone.

Robert is definately the most amazing photographer I have ever met. I have worked with him as a makeup artist and I have seen how he can get everyone I've seen, even the shyest, to feel comfortable behind the camera. He's great with kids as well as adults. Robert has really great & unique ideas to make pictures and the people in them look spectacular. Plus he's just so much fun to be around! I would recommend him to anyone!!

This guy is GREAT! I wanted some photos taken that were out of the ordinary. I wanted rock star lighting, fog machines and an avant garde/goth/punk theme. Robert was amazing. He loved the idea and took some amazing shots. I am soooo happy! When I got there, I was chagrined to realize I'd forgotten to dye my hair a weird red. The guy magically produces bright red hair dye. The makeup artist, Amy Sadek, was wonderful and helped to create a few different looks. With Robert's talent and creativity, the photos came out beyond my expectations. Plus Robert makes you feel so comfortable. I felt like I'd known him a long time after only a few minutes. And I love his cat, Sylvia, who oversaw the shoot. And let me tell you, I was nervous and afraid I would come off looking like a dork and Rob made me look like a rock star. I love this guy!!!!!!!! If you have your photos done, make sure you hire Amy Sadek to do your makeup. She is amazing, too. And Amy and Robert work so well together. A super positive experience for someone who hates having their picture taken. Plus finding someone so responsible and upbeat and funny was icing on the cake. Hire this man. You won't regret it.
