Rob the Mover is awesome!!!

He came on short notice and moved a big couch in his truck from the UES to Brooklyn, and helped us pick the couch up over a fence and over a shed and all these other obstacles.

Great prices too!!! Much cheaper than other moving companies I've worked with in the past.  After speaking to him, we texted him the address and he told us he'd be there at a certain time - he arrived early, and was so friendly and helpful.

Yay for Rob the Mover! I'll definitely call him next time I need to move something.

Rob the Mover & Crew are the BEST!

I was running a bit behind and Rob generously waited for me without a single complaint. Maureen schedules the pick ups and is the nicest,  behind the scenes client I have ever worked with. They will communicate with you via text too! Very Reasonable and Pleasant to work with!

I do not hand out 5 stars like candy.
Furthermore, I never found movers on Yelp until last week.

I phoned two of the reviewed movers here and opted for "Rob".

My experience....

...the best move I've had in 13 years in NYC, a tenure including at least 7 moves.

Rob didn't actually do the job, nor did his day help.  He and the guys who actually did the move, John and Barry, were hard working dudes that obviously took value in the efficiency of a days work.

The move was careful, speedy, friendly.  The interaction with the humans moving my belongings was casual, familiar and non-confrontational.

Their service came at a more than reasonable rate.
The few extra dollars you'll spend if you chose this mover will go toward
-on time performance.
-service with a smile.
-a get-along attitude
and
-a hassle free transaction of your agreed upon price.

Use These Movers.

I think the worst part about http://craigslist.org is finding the last minute moving person. I don't like the young twenty-somethings who don't care about your furniture and look like they've been partying up until the truck is parked. I found two large club chairs on CL on a Tuesday morning, called Rob the Movers at 4pm and was able to book for the next morning at 9am. I received prompt replies to emails and left a deposit with google checkout. A deposit might be off-putting to some, but it told me they were serious about our appointment and I wouldn't have to worry about a no-show. My mover was Dave and he showed up early to the pick-up, even calling me to say he arranged parking for free with a garage next door. In other words, he came early to do some recon. It was just him and me. I'm used to carrying furniture and he was amazing at working with another person, and a woman at that; calling to watch out for corners, and little cues that if you've ever carried furniture with some one saves backs and fine edges. He drove patiently, had the meter money ready, padded dollies and was generally positive about getting the chairs into my home easily. It was about an hour of work for $80 plus I gave a tip. I think it was incredibly well worth it. With another person it would have taken twice as long, again, this guy knew what he was doing.

I heart Craigslist but sometimes deals are less so once you factor in the cost to transport the item between homes. I'm so glad I found man-with-a-van Rob the Mover. His prices start at $45 (within select neighborhoods) for curb-to-curb.

I found a Crate & Barrel Chaise Lounge that still retails for $1300 for $200 which the Chinese haggler in me negotiated down to $125. Score! Next step was to find the best mover for the least amount of money. I texted Rob the details of the move - time, locations, number of stairs and the item. Within 45 minutes he came back with a quote of $55 (the seller's apartment was a 3rd floor walk up and I live in an elevator building about a mile away) for door-to-door.

I was unable to confirm the deal until the next day so I texted Rob that it was a go. He had a conflict and offered to find someone else to do the job. 20 minutes later it was set. I really appreciate his responsiveness.

My mover, Dallas, pulled up in Rob's truck promptly the next evening. The move was quick and easy. I will text Rob again the next time I have a small move.

aka. ROB THE LIFESAVER aka. ROB THE NICEST DUDE EVER aka. WHAT A BARGAIN aka. PICK THIS DUDE.

I called half a dozen movers, easily, and either 1. they didn't move "just a couch" 2. they didn't answer their phone or 3. they weren't available right now.

I needed like, today, he was there. He moved a heavy couch, we're sitting on it now. Plus, he's a nice dude, and you should support nice dudes. We gave him a 40 tip, cuz that's how nice he was. Found him on yelp, so, p.s. thank you yelp AGAIN.

You want curb to curb call this guy!!!

All he has is his old chevy but as long as you don't need to move too much it works great! I had him move a futon and it was the easiest transaction I've had. He will even give you a lift so you don't need to get a taxi. On top of that he's probably the nicest dude ever.

Trust me you won't be sorry!

Rob the Mover is FANTASTIC!  I can't recommend his service highly enough.  He's competent, he's flexible, he's inexpensive, and he seems like a genuinely nice guy.

From start to finish, I knew I was in good hands.  I called him day-of, and he was able to accommodate me at the time I specified, no problem.  Even when I dramatically changed the details of the move an hour before his guy was scheduled to arrive, adding a second pick-up location, he took it in stride!

My mover, Jeremy, was great.  He has a gift for maneuvering awkwardly-shaped furniture through narrow doorways and into tiny elevators, in defiance of all the laws of Physics.  He was very prompt, actually arriving 15 minutes before he was scheduled to.  The job was done in record time, and he was exceptionally careful with my stuff.  I couldn't've asked for a better experience!

Thank you, Rob!  I'll be recommending you to all my friends.

Rob the Mover offered excellent service and a fair price... He sent 2 guys who flew up and down stairs and also managed to squeeze all of my stuff into my apartment without any problems. In addition, they arrived before me on a sunday morning at 7am. Despite that time and the amount of my belongings, they maintained a positive attitude and completed everything quickly! Much appreciated! Lastly, he uses text messaging which is very useful too!

Rob just finished moving a table and 4 dinette chairs into my apartment. (Hells Kitchen to Hells Kitchen) Reliable, sensible mover. Like any NYC mover worth his salt, he uses wireless apparatus for a smooth move, e.g., cellphone, GPS, etc.  Conduct yourself with integrity and he will do the same... Simply dimply, five happy stars.

I just had to move some furniture purchased on Craigslist; and needed a truck.  This guy had his ad posted, and so I figured I'd check it out.  He was great, well organized, on time, understanding of some extra waiting time, and very helpful in getting things in and out of the truck, and even up one flight of staris (though the service was technically curb to curb.)   Anyway, I highly recommend him for anyone who needs to move a little stuff in Manhattan.  You can usually find his ad on CL.  His minimum flat fee (curb2curb, midtown) is $35.
