When my mother first told me about Roaring 20s, I was skeptical. But now, I always ask for a trip to Roaring 20s when I make it down to Florida.
Sure, they have good pizza and beer but the real highlight here is the ginormous Wurlitzer Pipe Organ. Check the organist schedule before you go. You can request songs and the organist will play them - I like to try to stump the organist with something no one's requested before. (The best one: The Theme Song to Bewitched.) My father likes to request songs with lots of sound effects. They literally have all the bells and whistles to do the sound effects, and it's really fun to see how they perform them all.
This is really a fun place for everyone to enjoy. Kids will get up and dance, grandmas will get up and dance. And everyone will want to try their hand at the claw machine filled with live lobster - you catch 'em, they'll cook 'em up for you!
We love to go there. Our daughter loves to dance around and watch the organ working. We always hear our requests played.
They have a average salad bar as well as pizza and sandwiches. We usually get pizza, which isn't the best but we love the fun atmosphere!
This place is fun and the pizza was pretty good. I'd give it more stars but the pizza was over-priced. Nevertheless it is a great way to celebrate a birthday or have just a unique experience. The organ music is what makes it special. I'd come back in a heartbeat to enjoy the music.
I heard about this place from my Dad who heard about it from a retiree in his HAM radio club. So... you know it's going to be good!
My bf lives in Tampa and I convinced him to make the drive over to Ellenton to check this out. What a great time! The pipe organ is awesome, the players are very good! They take requests, and every now and then a few people get up and dance. I loved the ladies dressed as flappers. When they aren't shaking it, they buss the tables. Loved them!
When we walked in we were told exactly how to order, basically you put your order in and grab a seat, then watch on an old bingo board for your number and go pick it up. Also, they now have a full bar, so you know... that's pretty sweet. (As long as you've got a driver).
The pizza was pretty good, kinda greasy but I think that's because we ordered one with pesto vs tomato sauce. Definitely worth giving another try. Also, we went on a Sat night, and this place was P-A-C-K-E-D!!!! No reservations unless you've got a group of 20 or more.
This place is fantastic! They have great pizza set up in a beer hall style. It is a great place to enjoy great pizza and good music. The organ players are really fantastic and love taking requests.
Also they sell ice cream!
Great family place, especially if you want to bring the grandparents along. They have an old organ a couple guys play and take requests- mostly old time songs and sing- a-longs. Good pizza and sandwiches. Nice alternative to a stuffy family dinner.
