3 reviews for Riviera Laguna Hotel
We just got back from a long weekend in Laguna Beach for a friend's wedding. It was our first time actually staying here, but we lived down the road in Irvine for a few years. It was so nice to be back here. I really like Laguna Beach, I just wish it wasn't in Orange County.
Anyway, this little hotel was a pleasant surprise. We split it with our friends and we thought it was going to be really tight, but our room turned out to be fairly spacious (304, I think). They also must be turning vanity areas into little kitchenettes. We had a fridge, sink and microwave with some great little dishware too. The bathroom is definitely tight, but also newly renovated.
On another review site, trip-related, people mentioned that the rooms smelled chemically and I could definitely smell this when we arrived. We opened our slider (leading out to our ocean view deck!) and I didn't notice the chemical smell after that. I felt like everything was very clean.
They were in the process of renovations in other rooms when we arrived, but we didn't really hear anything. We also didn't hear any noise on PCH since we faced the ocean.
They have a new-looking set of large stainless gas bbq grills with tools available in the office. We took advantage of this to have ourselves a little bbq and watch the sunset at their picnic area.
Parking was tight, but they had a space for all of the rooms. I actually parked two blocks away (only one car space is guaranteed) for free on the street. It was so weird after all of the SF signage to find no signs saying yes or no to parking. Since the wedding was at Hotel Laguna, we didn't move our cars for the whole stay-- how nice!
I would recommend this place if you want an ocean view with a relatively cheap price tag. Good for kids too, casual. Also, they have an indoor pool and easy beach access.

We stayed here last weekend June 19-21st. The hotel was a great bargain for the location and view. The rooms are not 5 star, but they have everything you need. The location of the hotel is perfect, close to anything you may need. The view is stunning and even if you do not pay for a room with a balcony, they have a common area that has seating that let's you enjoy the view comfortably. Lastly, just a short trip down a walk way and you are at the beach. This will be my hotel of choice when we want a quick getaway!

I stayed here once a few years ago while on trip to Laguna to see the Pageant of the Masters. I remember it being quirky and retro kitschy and great. It's right on the beach with beach access and rooms overlooking the beach and with views of Catalina Island, a clean little indoor pool, and within a few blocks walking distance from all the shops, restaurants, cafes and bars in downtown Laguna. It also has, by far, the most affordable rooms of any hotel in that area and none of the pretense!
