11 reviews for Riverside Marriott
Came here to take care of UCR business. I've never been to Riverside b4, so it was interesting to come to this city.
Overall, I like the hotel. It was clean, nicely run and pretty mellow. There didn't seem to be a lot of ppl, but that's fine by me. Less ppl means less doors opening and closing.
Took away one star, and here's why:
When asking the staff if they had a map of the area, the response, was, "No, we don't have that." This response was a bit surprising to me. This means this person was poorly trained, or simply didn't care.
If this was my hotel, I would have said, "I am sorry sir, we don't have maps, however, there is a store across the street that carries a wide assortment of maps to the Riverside/LA area." Having said that, as I picked up the little pamphlets next to the check in desk, there was one that showed a massive foldout Riverside map. I am disappointed that the person behind the desk wasn't more aware of this. Again, if this was my hotel, I would demand all my staff to respond the obvious questions. After all, it is a hotel and ppl stay at hotels because they are from out of town.
The other gripe I had was that the AC would kick in on/off. The room cools down, and once it cools, the AC shuts off. As as u r about to fall asleep, there would be a loud pop noise and the AC will kick back on loudly, startling everyone. In addition, be sure not to have a room next to the elevator, unless u like the sound of cables and mechanical devices. It's not super loud, but u will hear it. I've stayed in hotels where the AC was a constant drone, and after awhile, u don't even hear it, which is actually better because it becomes white noise.
Parking is in the parking structure. U need your card key to enter. I like it because it's in the shade.
Overall, it's a pretty good hotel. There's some things that need polishing, but decent.
Interesting reviews....With our Luxury auto dealerships we travel to Riverside at least once a month and quite often every other week! We had been staying at the Courtyard Marriott but found this gem!! We met with the business manager and got a few things set up for us to do business there the way we like it and found them to be SO helpful and attentive to our needs.
The rooms are great and the entire hotel is wonderful (for the area!) The area is not one of the finest you will find but if you have business in Riverside, Stay here...the bar and food is great too!

At first glance, the Riverside Marriott appears to be a very nice economical hotel. Newly renovated guest rooms, granite countertops, Bath and Body Works Aromatherapy amenities.
Only when I awoke did I notice a few disturbing details:
1.) A stray chunk of feather duster (I think) partially lodged under a pillow.
2.) Clogged drain in the tub (hate that!!)
3.) A rusty brown smear on the duvet that looked suspiciously like dried blood. I rationalized that maybe it was just a few drops of the Pinot Noir from room service. One can only hope.
Overall it was affordable and acceptably comfortable. Room service carries a service charge of 18%, but the Croissant Club is pretty tasty!

This place made my time in Riverside bearable. For about four months, I had a room here 4-6 days a week. Each week, I had a different room and overall, this place is pretty consistent. Some rooms are a bit more updated. During one of my stays, all the mattresses were switched out for new ones. Only one of my rooms (on the 3rd floor) had a bit of a funk to it. Generally, the higher up you go, the better the rooms are supposed to be. Front desk staff was extremely helpful and always pleasant... even when you check-in at 2 or 3 in the morning. Room service was dependable when I needed some food/booze and the food was actually decent, though a bit oily at times.
The fitness center on the 2nd floor is somewhat odd because of the low ceiling. You feel almost like a hamster in a cage, but I liked that each treadmill had its own TV. Bring your own headphones though... the ones they provide look a bit sketchy. I was able to stay somewhat fit during my stays here (mostly out of boredom).
Generally, this hotel is pretty quiet. Sometimes, you'll hear the train (or trucks?) in the evenings. There are occasions when loud groups of teenagers are in town for events at the hotel or the Convention Center and the hallways are full of hormonal teens. According to the locals, with the exception of the Mission Inn (where you'll pay an arm and a leg for accommodations), this is the only decent hotel in Riverside.
My company paid for everything, so it's hard to complain when everything is free. BUT I'll do it anyway... 1) occasionally, the hotel would screw up and charge my personal credit card instead of the company card, 2) reservations were sometimes hard to come by with the Marriott being a decent hotel and with so many events taking place at the Convention Center, 3) the charge for parking is a bit much at $8/day for hotel patrons, and 4) they should really replace all the old hairdryers with the new ones (because some of us have lots of hair!).
This place was pretty much my home for four months and the consistency was greatly appreciated (because four months is WAY too much time to be spending in Riverside). I knew what to expect every time I came here. I would definitely stay here again if I really had to come back to Riverside.

Thank goodness for cut and paste. Nearly the same review as the one I did for the Courtyard at LAX:
"I guess if you need a comfortable place to stay, the Courtyard is great. They are just a couple of items away from grabbing that fourth star bump:
Dear Marriott,
Your 'exercise room' is weak. Don't even advertise that you have one if your guests can't really get a good workout in there.
I'm not looking for a gym that's chalked full of tons of machines, but I am looking for at least SOMETHING to do other than treadmill or stationary bike.
Next, no good bars / entertainment / restaurants worth a crap in the area.
Other than that, very comfortable rooms, great staff, and way the hell out in Riverside.

This is a nice Marriott, not of the Marriott resort quality, but for a Marriott hotel, it was pretty good. The rooms were really spacious and beds were the comfy type with down comforters and loads of pillows. This location is so much better than the one at LAX which had cramped rooms and just felt old and shabby. Everything felt new in here (which it should be for a Marriott property). Bathroom amenities included shampoo, conditioner and body lotion from Bath and Bodyworks.
Parking is free for guests, valet is available too. Within walking distance to the convention center and the gorgeous Mission Inn Hotel.

inside, the place is nice...had the opportunity to attend a banquet in a very tiny banquet room. Also had the opportunity to sleep there over night. Room was a nice hotel room - clean, no problems.
but if you can avoid staying here, do it! parking is horrible. you have to PAY for parking, in downtown Riverside...downtown san diego, pasadena, sure i understand...but no - should be complimentary but its not.

This is one of the very few decent hotels that actually served food that's above par. It was my sister's wedding reception and the coordinators did a wonderful job with the ballroom. The servers were very attentive and that made the flow seamless throughout the night. The food is what definitely prompted me to write this review though. I had a chance to try a little bit of all three choices and they were all very good. It may just be me, but I can't remember the last time I enjoyed hotel food so this was a pleasant surprise for my taste buds.
I also stayed the night and the rooms were pretty big, had very comfortable beds, lots of pillows, and down comforters. It had everything that I needed. I must say I had very good sleep. I was so comfortable that I actually slept through my Dad's snoring and you don't wanna know how bad that can be.
Oh and if you ever decide to stay here, walk a couple of blocks down and have brunch at Mission Inn. It's absolutely fabulous.

***Incompetence runs amok at Riverside Marriott***
I guess that's what happens when you hire a bunch of meth addicted hotel staff. My room was adjascent to the convention center and like most other places in Riverside, I had a nice view of the smog cloud hanging above the ground like a toxic cloud formation....actually it was a toxic cloud formation. I can't blame the hotel staff for that, but I can blame them, for losing my reservation, overcharging me for my room, losing my reservation a second time and generally taking forever to bring up my room service for dinner.
My company booked this place a few times for me and I guess because my difficult name, Owyoung, they were unable to spell a name correctly for a reservation.
The room itself was nice enough, but most in which are comp'd by a company are. After watching that Zodiac movie, I can only hope the killer didn't go insane after staying here and arguing with the front desk.

A good hotel overall. The check in process was quick, even with a slight problem of having the wrong dates for my reservation. I'll try not to be judgmental and say that the guy behind the counter was not on meth, maybe he just had a nervous twitch or 20. Regardless, he was polite, if a little too chatty.
The room was big and most of the furniture was nice. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. They make me want to get rid of my mattress at home. The microwave and mini-fridge in my room looked like they were salvaged from a college dorm. Neither matched the decor in the rest of the room, and the both had dents and scratches all over.
I was there for a conference, and the ballroom was great. Any complaints about climate control were quickly addressed. The snacks and drinks were plentiful and high quality.
The fitness center was mediocre. It was good enough to do a few basic exercises, but it's quite small and prone to crowding. The second day I went down there, a guy was doing his sit ups in the hallway.
The surrounding area of downtown Riverside is not too bad. I had much lower expectations.
i spent one night at the marriott in riverside, the hotel is well kept, my room was organized and clean and the bed was comfy as usual of every marriott. i was a little sad to find out there was no minibar to attack those midnight munchies i suddenly get... so i ordered room service and they didnt have what i wanted (tuna sandwich!), so i had to go for a roast beef sandwich ... then, early in the morning, a realized there was no bathrobe; so because of these reasons, ive decided to take away two stars off the review. must say that the staff (at least the front desk girls) was very friendly to me and the rest of my crew. room service was right on time for breakfast but, i just cant believe there was no minibar. thats really not cool at all...
