I love this place so much! It's so cute, great music, it's a SERIOUS throw back. Like mentioned below they have everything on the menu, including GIGANTIC black and white cookies that I cant ever say no to. It's decently priced, and there is always parking. If no car, its right off the BX 9 bus which is great as well!
Get the grilled cheese (with cheddar) with curly fries well done!
That side pickle make it a double
NUM NUMS
p.s. my opinion is tainted being from the west coast where we dont have diners, only cheap ass dennys.
I love the food at this place I haven't been disappointed yet. My absolute favorite is the eggs with homefries and I add the loganiza sausage. I tried the fried chicken for the first time and it was delicious. This is definitely one of my favorite diners.
It's a fancy-schmancy diner.
In the mood for Greek? Got it!
Mexican? Yup!
Italian? Yessir!
Dominican?!?! Oh yeah!
Health food? Hmmm-mmmm
Plain ol' diner food? Yeah, they got that too!
Whatever you're craving they got it. Their baked clams are stuffed with crab meat... soooo good. It's my favorite thing on the menu.
Chorizo with cilantro scrambled eggs and mangu. AMAZING.
Satellite music from the 20's-50's playing overhead. Interesting mix of people having meals, a vertiable UN of nationalities.
Service was good, with steady offers for java refills. Sadly, coffee was just eh. Food arrived quickly and was delish. They have the big fat sausages sliced in half and grilled. So good.
Decent diner experience. The food here is all pretty good, and definitely filling. Can't go wrong with the breakfast selections, which hit the spot. Don't veer off too much with something like seafood or steak -- this just isn't the place for that kind of fare.
Sundays can get very crowded, but the service is friendly and efficient, and they'll get you seated as soon as they can. Not to say that it's perfect. We've been left waiting for drinks, and once, after specifically requesting hot chocolate with milk, I was greeted with a watery disappointment instead.
Enjoy this place for what it is, and appreciate the large amounts of food you can consume for the low cost (extra tip: students get a 10% discount if you show ID).
This place is a good back up for when you cant get parking for Louie Dale's. It's a bit pricey - no doubt they are banking on the Riverdale name - but the food is decent. Nothing out of this world, just decent diner food and fairly good service. This is not the place where I would ever consider becoming a regular because the prices are too high for my liking and the food is definitely not worth a long term commitment. I would say keep it in mind as a last resort due to parking concerns.
The nearly quintessential diner... except it's not in New Jersey. Still you'll get the menu with far too much shit to choose from. Kvetching fools rejoice.
I recommend you order the tortellini. Trashy goodness!
This is s good as a diner gets. HUGE menu, food is consistently good, they bring fresh, hot bread to the table, have good soups, and the waiters are nice. Couldn't find a better diner if I tried...
Classic East Coast diner fare at it's best! I take my Dad there every time I'm in town. At any hour, of any day, you can order virtually anything, from Antipasto to Ziti! Full bar, beer, breakfast, burgers, and some great local fare, like mofongo, plantains and or course, desserts. Wheelchair accessible with a ramp and separate door. Lots of families, crying kids, arguing couples, teens on first dates, etc. Wish they had 'em like that here in Minnesota (Key's Foods come close.)
One of my favorite local spots. Like most diners, their menu includes pretty much everything and very good prices. I agree with a previous reviewer - Sundays do get very crowded. I also have had some delivery problems, but, then again, my apartment is impossible to find.
This is your typical diner. no more, no less. It supposedly had a spotty history. I went there in April 2007 and the food/service were more than adequate. Personally, I prefer Blue Bay, but this place is much larger. I'd go back.
