River Road definitely takes the cake for my all-time favorite local coffee shop. Not only is it the best in Granville, but it has the best atmosphere and some of the best coffee of ANY coffee shop I've ever been to.
The frozen River Road Mocha is one of my all-time favorite coffee drinks. It's made with white mocha and caramel, and it tastes a lot like a milkshake if we're being honest. River Road has tons of other delicious concoctions- I've never been disappointed with any that I've tried, but I've gotten so hooked on the sweet drinks that I don't think I've ever tried any of their regular coffees.
My favorite thing about River Road, aside from their epic signature mocha, is the atmosphere. The coffee house is in what used to be an actual house, so it's very...well, homey. The coffee counter is sort of in a separate room from the seating areas, which is nice because you at least have the option to get away from those awful roaring blender and espresso machine noises. There's outdoor seating on the deck, which is always a huge plus for me, as well a nice indoor porch with tables next to the windows. As you wind your way through into the back rooms, you'll find seating of all shapes and sizes: bar-top tables, larger 5 and 6 person tables, tiny and intimate two-person tables, and my favorite: the comfy chairs!
I love these chairs, so much that I seriously aspire to have one of my own. They have an awesome sort of retro pattern and are big enough for two people to squeeze onto if need be, for those days when you come with a group and the coffee house is packed. Another thing I like about the interior of River Road is that there are lots of windows and lots of natural light, and it's way more spacious and cozy than any other coffee shop I've seen. The art space inside is a nice element, too- there's always cool pottery and interesting books to look at or to purchase.
An added bonus to the awesomeness of River Road is their delicious stromboli! It's honestly some of the best stromboli I've had- not too greasy and not too big. It'd be better if they didn't microwave it, but it's still delicious. I'm also a huge fan of the stuffed croissants- both the turkey and swiss and the spinach and feta are great.
AND they have pints of Jeni's Ice Cream! What more could you possibly want from a coffee shop? River Road is THE BEST. -

I'll admit: I'm not big into coffee. I know, that's crazy coming from someone who is enough of a foodie to use Yelp, but whatevs. That being said, I love River Road Coffee Shop. The atmosphere is absolutely wonderful, there are plenty of places to sit, lots of windows, and free Wi-fi for public use. I have heard good things about the coffee, and I know for a fact that they make a perfectly decent chai latte. They have a wide variety of yummy loose-leaf teas, and they can whip up any candy-flavored coffee concoction that you can think of. They offer a limited selection of food, consisting of mostly desserts but including the most delicious bagels in Granville. They're huge and come in a wide variety of flavors, but you have to be sure to get there in the morning because they sell out by 11 am. Another huge perk of River Road is the fact that they offer Jeni's ice cream products. This literally an act of mercy for those of us who don't live in Columbus but love Jeni's.
River Road Coffee House: if you're looking for that perfect coffee shop in Granville, this is probably it. -

I can't tell you the number of hours I spent at River Road. Whether I was hungover, in desperate need of getting a paper written, or just wanting to chat with my girlfriends, this is where I was. It's where I first discovered my love for a skim chai latte.
On Sundays you need to get there early to stake out a good table, especially if you've got a lot of books. Free WiFi was an incredible plus, and the staff never bothers you no matter how long you stay. They have the nicest baristas EVER working there who often remember your order and will talk to you about whatever you feel like chatting about. There's a great patio out back for those rare beautiful fall/spring days. They've got different seating options: tables and chairs, couches, and big comfy armchairs which is nice depending on what kind of work you're doing. If you don't have any work to do the eavesdropping is equally entertaining: you may hear locals arguing about the new chain restaurant trying to get within village limits, neighborhood groups planning their next big fundraiser, or college students regailing ridiculous stories from the night before.
Whenever I'm back in Granville I'm sure to stop back by River Road. I always feel at home.Listed in: Yelpin' the USofA.

This is the perfect place to grab coffee and catch up with friends. You'll find plenty of options on their menu. Tasty tea, excellent coffee, and tons of speciality drinks. There are bagels, scones and muffins to enjoy as well. You can grab some Jeni's ice cream there too! With all the cozy places to sit, it's hard not to spend several hours here.

River Road is great. They have everything that a coffee shop needs (in my opinion). Great coffee, a cool selection of books, awesome pottery and a great atmosphere. I am not there often as I am from out of town but every time I am in Granville, this is the first place I go.

River Road was my safe haven spring semester. During the cold months its very warm and homey inside, being in a house - it's like sipping a yummy latte in your favorite armchair at home. Lots of space and you can always find a seat. I found it a great place to do homework all day on Sunday set up at a table - a lot of Denison students do that. Free WiFi very helpful - but distracting if you're there to do homework.
Very creative lattes - the biggest list of lattes I've ever seen and they're all so good - my favorite was the Snickers latte. Their cookies are also AMAZING and HUGE I would often chew on one throughout my pile of work as a reward each time i finished something. Delicious. One of my favorite places in Granville. -

This is a great little coffee house. I'm from Washington state and, believe me, I know good coffee. This is well prepared, good coffee in a lovely little atmosphere. BTW they have the best bagels on the planet! I have never had a better everything bagel. My sister, who lives in Granville, knows to stock up on them when I come to town. Bless her. ;)

A great coffee house, and the owner really, really loves and knows his coffee. This is the kind of place that most people imagine when they conjure up an image of a coffee shop in their mind. Little rooms and alcoves, funky art (and occasionally some really bad art), a roasting machine in a corner, books, a deck, and plenty of spontaneous meetings with friends. Get there early if you want a bagel, since they tend to run out, and the rest of their baked goods are not terrific **update** Andrew from Lucky Cat now makes their muffins and let me just say that I've gained a bit of weight. They sell Mootz Run tea, which is really good if you want tea instead of coffee, but if you want coffee, then go for a press pot of something he's freshly roasted. Can't be beat. I think my favorite, though, is to order the traditional cappuccino and see what kind of art they make in the foam. I'll miss this place when I'm gone.
