Tried this recently for the second time, and must say I am still impressed. River Falls is located in an old mill/warehouse building, on the end of Main Street in Woonsocket. The hostess was nice enough to give us a tour when we asked, so I got to see the whole thing.
There are river and 'falls' views on both sides of the dining room which is nice to look at if you get a table by the window. The main level has a smaller bar and a the main dining room. Upstairs is a much larger bar and a dance-floor for when they have entertainment on the weekend. The schedule on their website says they have karaoke on most Thursdays. :)There's a function room downstairs with another bar and even more amazing river views.
The food was good. The first time we went the had just opened, so we were expecting them to still be working out the kinks. The waitress was really professional and knowledgeable. I got the blackened chicken alfredo, which was delicious.
Their website leaves a bit to be desired but I did just notice two things that are worth mentioning - they have a special on Wednesdays ("Dinner for Two for $30) which includes soup, salad, entree, bottle of wine, coffee AND dessert. That seems like a ppprrretty good deal to moi! And also FYI, it looks like they are closed on Mondays.

Our intention was to try the food here, but at 9:45 on a Saturday night the downstairs was almost empty and looked ready to close. We had no choice but to sit at the downstairs bar. The upstairs had a private party going on and was closed to the public. It took the clueless bartender almost 15 minutes to finally acknowledge us after she completely cleaned off the bar and repositioned the bar stools. After I finished my first beer it took her 30 minutes to finally ask if I wanted another. At that point my opinion of this place was complete. Others talk about the beautiful decor, looked pretty average to me with the downstairs looking rather sterile with white walls, I was not impressed. I think River Falls made a mistake by opening the City Side live music venue in the front of River Falls. The crowd was basically all toothless backwoods types with sleeveless shirts and hats. They were all noticeably drunk hanging around the outside smoking and mixing with the departing eating crowd waiting for the valet. The City Side crowd also were using the restaurant bar as a quick place to grab shots and drinks and use the bathrooms. Not a good impression for anyone who is looking for a quiet evening out. Will I return to try the food, probably not. Not only did the bartender leave a bad taste but the crowd from City Side basically sealed my feeling that I would not return.

River Falls is an outstanding addition to the Woonsocket area. Located on the opposite side of the bridge from the waterfall that gave the town its name, it would command a spectacular view of the river if the stone walls of the building weren't so very thick, and if the deep-set windows weren't so relatively high and narrow. If they could have a deck built overhanging the river, the view of the river would be absolutely incredible - but their prices would probably have to go up, I suppose.

In any case, the food is *excellent* (I'd boldface that word, if HTML could be used here on Yelp). We've been there quite a few times, and we've never been disappointed. Their prime rib in particular is outstanding - large and perfectly cooked - but we've tried many different meals there, and not ONE has been less than satisfactory or excellent.

Prices are quite reasonable. On Wednesday nights, there's a special offer: two full meals (from a list of ten to twelve different entrees), including salad (or soup, I think), plus a bottle of wine or pitcher of beer, desserts, and coffee for $30 (not including tip or, I think, tax - but it's still a great deal). That's $30 for two people, which is a very good deal indeed - but if you don't drink, you can eat for even less there on other days, depending on what you order. One drawback to the Wednesday deal: the included desserts are a bit meager, and the choice is limited.

Speaking of desserts, the full-sized ones are not to be missed. They have a banana cheesecake ("Zhango", if I remember correctly) fried in a cinnamon tortilla shell that my wife raves about. And their sundae on a large fresh-baked hot chocolate chip cookie is VERY memorable, as long as you're careful not to burn yourself on the little cast-iron skillet that it comes in! It also comes with a trivet or pot-holder.

Service is always excellent. The ambiance and decor are quite pleasant, in a slightly dark, adult sense - not that children aren't welcome. In fact, they also have a family night. But this is not a typical "family" restaurant with bright lighting and an open layout. It's definitely a cut above that.

The place has an interesting history, from what I've heard. At least some of the staff used to work at the "Box Seats" in Woonsocket that closed a year or two ago. The restaurant that opened in the former Box Seats location closed fairly quickly, and has now re-opened under the old name. I don't know if it's being run by the same people, though.

River Falls has picked up on one of the nicer features that Box Seats had, by offering unlimited soup - although that might only come with certain meals, I'm not sure. They also managed to add to their menu the authentic berched chicken that used to be served at the famous but now-closed Ma Glockner's Restaurant, although that's available on Sundays only.

All in all, River Falls is a top-notch restaurant, well worth repeated visits.

I recently went to Riverfalls Resturant and Lounge with some friends of ours who live in Woonsocket and were very pleased with the food, service, and atmosphere.

I had the Thai Salmon...delicious!!

I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal at a considerably reasonable price...about $100 for 4 people.
