The Ritz in Buckhead is great - the old-fashioned Southern charm that you imagine in this neck of the woods.  The atmosphere is very nice, subdues, the antiques are everywhere.  The rooms are very comfortable and the service is great.

The restaurant is incredible.  One of the best meals I've ever had in my life time.  I would even go as far as saying that it may be worth a trip into Atlanta just for this to enjoy this amazing meal.  Of course, you've got to stay here so that you can go to your room after and have a relaxing night.

The spa is very nice as well.  I had a great massage here.  The workout room is ok, nothing memorable.

I went to the Ritz for Lumen Bar, the hotel bar, for drinks with a few girls. The lounge is smaller than it looks on the hotel's website and I liked it better when it was a tea room (I had fabulous afternoon tea there last year!). We didn't stay for drinks because the place was dead.

If you're gonna go here, take some friends so you're not by yourself.

Beautiful decor. Lovely service. My only gripe is that I would prefer that the concierge know a little bit more about the LGBT scenes in Atlanta. It'd be helpful.

service, service service.  Sorry Yelper snobs but service is key to me.  I went there this week and lovedc the lumen bar, sit on the bench, awesome.  The guitarist was so accurate with his music that I thought it was MUZAK.  drinks are reasonably priced for a Ritz.  I enjoyed will go again and again!  The Lumen looked refreshed and the service was too!

I have stayed in many Ritz Carlton properties and this one does not measure up.  Everything in this place is small.  The lounge is small, the menu at the restaurant is small, the clubroom is small, the gift shop is small, the bathroom is small.  Small just everywhere.  Maybe I'm a spoiled Texan.  Everything in Texas is big!  The bathroom does not have a stand alone shower.  Boo!  The gift shop only has Ritz Carlton signature products.  Boo!  There's no swimming pool or spa. Triple boo!  The lack of speed of the wireless internet.  Quadruple boo!  Dial up is literally faster.  This is definitely not the Ritz Carlton to book if you have discriminating taste.  However, I gave it 3 stars because the staff absolutely do not fail to give you the impeccable attention and service that you have come to expect from Ritz Carlton.

Our friend was in town from LA and stayed at The Ritz. We picked him up at the airport and took him to the hotel. When we pulled up, I could tell he was a bit perplexed, as the hotel does not look very nice from the outside. Once inside, it was a bit better. We waited downstairs in the bar area and the service was very prompt and friendly.

We ended up coming back to the hotel a few more time. The valet guys were all great. They let us leave our car right out front and gave us easy directions, as we don't know that part of town. This is not the nicest Ritz I have been to, but it did have that great Ritz service that they are so well know for.

When I lived in Atlanta, I don't remember this hotel being so cute. On a recent trip back, I had the dual pleasure of: 1) staying here 2) paying less than $200 a night for it.  I don't know which of the small touches I loved most:  was it the navy blue, floor-to-ceiling backed booths in the lobby lounge?  Or the fresh pitcher of lemon water in the business center?  It could have been outdoor balcony at the hotel restaurant or the warm welcoming staff.  The only downside was the "so-so" view from my room overlooking the MARTA station, but then again it's downtown Atlanta there's not much to see in any direction.  Bottom line: next time my travels bring me to ATL, Ritz downtown will be top of my list.

I travel alot for business so I have become somewhat of a hotel snob.  I admit that freely.  But that's okay because I get to stay at a wide range of very nice hotels all over the world.

I wish I could give this place 5 stars.  Because all the friendly service, amenities and accouterments that one acquaints with a Ritz Carlton are all here.  The bed is amazing with a duvet and multitudes of pillows and high thread count sheets that make you want to stay in bed forever.  The food at the Atlanta Grill (the in house restaurant) was good and room service came before the promised time.  The employees, from the front entrance to the front desk to any employee that you come across, go out of their way to address you and to thank you. There are free bottles of water, hot cider and coffee and an afternoon high tea all set up to make you feel pampered.   All signature marks of a Ritz.

My issue?  I have a certain expectation of a Ritz Carlton and this place just feels like it needs to be updated.  While everything looked nice on the surface- upon closer examination the furniture was scratched, there was a tear in the upholstery on one of the chairs, the TV was old and there was no wireless Internet.  They also still charge a daily fee for Internet service which makes me crazy at a hotel of this caliber and price.  The bathroom was more fitting of a Marriott than a Ritz.  Sure- all the fixtures were there- but it was tired and the ceiling needed painting.  On the plus side- they did stock Bvlgari toiletries which is a nice touch.

So bottom line?  The Ritz Carlton in Atlanta is a nice hotel.  But it could be a great hotel with a facelift to bring it comparable to the other properties that it competes with.  But if you aren't a hotel snob like me-you'll probably think you died and went to heaven!

Stayed here for business..  The place is kind of old and a little outdated.. ,Missing any sort of grand lobby.. However, the wonderful service of the Ritz Carlton chain still exists..

The Hotel's restaurant is called Atlanta Grill..  It has the oaky and dark thing you would expect at this Hotel.. Really beautiful wood bar, seating outside on a covered deck with gas laterns burning.. Steaks were in the 30's as were most things.. A sugarcane skewered shrimp and grtis appetizer  for 18 bucks seemed interesting..   All of this would good on the right occasion.. Dining a lone on a business trip brought me to a party with a bunch of conventioners.. I drank two gin and tonics with tickets I was given  at the door and watched random people dance together.  A mini pulled pork sandiwich or two might have been eaten. Also some hot cheese dip with saltine crackers was being offered..

Not a big fan of the room service menu. Although a burger I ordered was awesome..  At other Ritz Carlton Hotels I have been to, theh chef of the main dining room also creates something interesting for room service.. Maybe more Southern Items or just regional specific dishes would be cool.  It might have made me feel like I would get to see something besides work and a hotel.

Cleaning service was wonderful.. Free shoe shine at night, turn down service with chocolates and notes.. When I arrived a got a welcome back box of 6 assorted chocolates.. All  were really high quality.. I would rlike to know where they got them..

Physically, there are things that make the hotel not work.. The lobby is below the enterance from the main st its on.. It is cramped and small and makes the rest of the hotel feel cramped and small.. Service is great, the rooms are big but nothing special.. I love the bead, i love the sheets..and they give you like 7 crazy comfortable pillows.

From the professional yet friendly service to beautifully crafted rooms, Ritz-Carlton Hotel is indeed the best.  Hyeon and I stayed at their suite for our anniversary night last December.  From the Bvlgari soap, shampoo, and body wash in the bathroom to nicely-arranged flowers, I could tell they paid a lot of attention to even the smallest detail.  I am a meticulous person - always looking for something to pick at, but in here, I gave up after a long search.  The room was flawless!  Simultaneously, the room was very inviting and comfortable, accommodating travelers to feel like they are home.

Then in the middle of the night - precisely 11:20 P.M., Hyeon suddenly decided that he was hungry and he needed it eat.  Being a picky person that he is, he wanted a New York Strip, cooked medium.  Of course, there was room service; but they only serve the dinner menu only through the prime hours.  We were more than positive that he would have to eat something different.  Nevertheless, we still called and nervously asked whether it would be okay to order it.  To my surprise, they said "Certainly!"  About 30 minutes later, they indeed brought a just-out-of-the-grill New York Strip to our room!  We really appreciated this nice gesture.  This is an exceptional (and superbly nice) service.  No wonder this hotel is on AAA's five-star hotel list.

On top of all this, I was able to watch The Simpsons Movie in my room.  Now, this was before the movie came out in DVD.  Having this option was just sweet, because I was about to kill myself for not catching it at the theaters and couldn't wait any longer for the DVD to come out.  (I still don't know how they were able to play "Still in the theaters" movie.. does anybody know?)

Next morning, Hyeon and I walked out of the hotel, very relaxed and content.  Thanks to their exquisite service, we were able to have an unforgettable night.  From my experience, I would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone: Hard-to-pleasers, parents, or business partners.

I agree with other reviewers that some parts of the hotel look a little dated, but they do have some lovely oil paintings and antiques. The room was peaceful and the bed heavenly. Like passing out on a cloud ( I passed out a lot after wining and dining clients and generally being on the go the whole time).

When we arrived we were immediately asked if we would like a glass of champagne and I bottled water. I readily accepted. My roomie and i were a little unsettled after having ridden the MARTA train from the airport. We thought it would be fun. It was- till the gangstas got on at the Oakland Point stop and I had to hide my wedding rings in my bra and clutch my belonging for dear life. Seriously, it was touch and go there for a minute.

The bar and food at the Atlanta grill were lovely as was the jazz ensemble that played nightly. The low country she-crab soup was rich and tasty as was the lobster club sandwich. Room service was prompt and my poached eggs were nice and runny, just like I like them.

The only drawback and this is no fault of the hotel, but there were tons of shady characters that approached us and asked for money anytime we set foot outside the hotel. That was a little unsettling, but so be it.

The building itself is a spectacularly dull example of modern corporate design, but they've done a nice job inside of making it seem Ritz-y. I'm not staying here, but am attending a conference in their downstairs ballroom, which seems adequate for the task. It seems a bit of overkill for a room full of geeks, but the chocolate mints and Ritz notepads at each seat are a nice touch.

We had dinner at the Atlanta Grill, their upstairs restaurant, which is poorly named since they don't even sell hamburgers. But the duck confit was a roaring success, and the Sweetwater pale ale (a local brew) is well worth trying.

All in all, if your tastes run to the nouveau riche, then this will be right up your alley. Question: why does the Day's Inn have free wireless, but not the Ritz?

I've always been a fan of Ritz Carltons anywhere, and this one certainly was no disappointment.  (Yes, I agree with other reviewers' remark on the ironically dull exterior that totally contradicts the beauty inside.  Then again, this particular location is in the midst of the financial, corporate downtown Atlanta.)

On this trip, arriving at the hotel (all the way from NYC) was a trip and a half (weather issues, lost luggage, etc).  So upon arriving extremely stressed and exhausted, I was completely pleased with the hotel staff's friendly (and southern?) hospitality and top-notch service.  Without even my requesting it, the receptionist offered to supply me with toiletries (those not included in the regular bathroom supply), a cotton gown of my size (instead of the large already placed in the room), and some cookies and hot cinnamon apple cider (I was suffering from a really bad cold).  When my luggage arrived the next day, the hotel staff gave me a timely courtesy call and delivered it to my room right away.  Now THAT's what i call a splendid service!

The room was spacious, elegant, and - most importantly - comfortable as ever: large king bed with the famous Ritz however-many-count Egyptian cotton CRISP white linens, mounds of plush pillows for my tired body to sink into, and soft, light goose down comforter to ease me into sweet, sweet dreams.  Oh yeah, you also can't go wrong with toiletries by Bvlgari.  Yes, you read it right - Bvlgari.  Great cleaning house staff (LOVE the way they make the bed SO perfectly!).  Oh, did I mention.... chocolate mints on the pillow???

The hotel's in-house restaurant, Atlanta Grill, offered some really beautiful live music and a fabulous dinner in dim candle-lit lighting.  I can't recall what I had, but whatever it was, I was content with it.

Would definitely stay here again on my next business trip to Atlanta.

I think this hotel is meant to be enjoyed in more of a non-business setting (vacation honeymoon etc). It seems like the business reviewers are looking for something more contemporary but that is not what this particular hotel is about. It's classic and takes you into a different reality. The top notch service is a given with this hotel. All in all, use it for what it is and not what it isn't.

This is my first time at the Ritz.  I've been to other five star hotels though.  Great location.. really great staff.  Attentive and friendly!  They also have complimentary spring water, iced tea, and lemonade.  They have a terrific fitness center.  Great equipment and fantastic dry and wet sauna.

I really liked my room as well.  Fantastic bed.  So luxurious.. so soft.  And yes, chocolates on the pillow.  One thing I didn't like.. they could update their appliances.  The toilet broke near the sitting room.  The sink was dripping ALL night.  I would have also appreciated a bigger tub (I've been to other five stars with huge tubs).  They also didn't have any shampoo or conditioner in my room.  I would have also liked a flat screen in the bedroom (since there was one in the sitting room).

Good place though.. and it's not terribly expensive.

I stayed at the Ritz Carlton while I was traveling for business in the Atlanta area.  It was absolutely an upgrade from the crappy Indigo Hotel I stayed at the first night I got to Atlanta (see my review o Indigo Hotel...)  Starting out with the lobby -- not spectacular yet elegant, and it has a very nice bar area.  The front desk people were competent but not super friendly.  The added security feature in the elevator can be a hassle at times.  Also, it's one of those "slide in slide out" sensor, which is not sensitive at all half of the times.  The rooms are HUGE!  The bathroom is very spacious and it has Blvgari toiletries!!!  The furniture seemed to be from the last decade but I suppose they were trying to maintain the classic look?  Same with the electronics in the room...the TV was pretty disappointing.

I ate at Atlanta Grill one night and had room service (which offers food by Atlanta Grill) the other two nights I was there.  Was not impressed with the food overall.  The night we dined at the restaurant, it took us three hours to finish our dinner.  Not that we were taking our time, the servers were just not the most efficient crowd.  I started with the four onion soup, which was decent, but not to die for.  The seared scallops were awesome though...but one order comes with only 2 pieces??  seriously...

All in all, my experience at the Ritz was pleasant.  I would only give it 3 1/2 stars though because I found holes on the bedsheet (the thread count was awesome though!!!) and the area outside the hotel is a little sketchy.

Jeff G. is right on. With your first step into the lobby, you know you are somewhere special. I love the outside dining area (Atlanta Grill) that overlooks the hustle and bustle below on Peachtree. The rooms are beautiful, the toiletries are by Bvlgari and the room service is excellent.

1st stay in Atlanta - and only for a long weekend at that.  Feel was sort of that of a boutique hotel - smallish, not that grand of an entrance area  (We stopped by the Four Seasons in Midtown and this seems more on par with this caliber of hotel).  Restaurant was very good and priced in line with the few area nicer restaurants but tasted better.  Very good personnel and very pleasant.  Hotel itself could stand some more face-lifting.

It was my first stay at The Ritz-Carlton downtown Atlanta.  The service was friendly which is always nice.  Though it could go for and update  of some type.  I have stayed at other Ritz's and it does not seem to have that charm and grand feel as some of the others.

BLOWN AWAY!  -- O.K. not literally, we stayed a few weekends BEFORE the  tornado - but blown away by the customer service!  We booked a 'reconnect package' which included complimentary valet and breakfast. We opted for breakfast in bed and were basically able to order anything we wanted. "Would you like to add a fresh fruit platter?"  YES, PLEASE!  Breakfast had to be a $60 value. The lobby is stunning. We walked in, were showered with friendly service - not suffocating, annoying service, but helpful, thoughtful staffers. We enjoyed complimentary champagne at check-in. The mayor was standing nearby! Our room was very clean. Sure, it wasn't brand spankin new with modern amenities, but that is NOT a top priority to me. We were granted a late 2p checkout and enjoyed every last extra minute. Location:  Um, it's downtown Atlanta. Grab a cab and go to many of the cool restaurants and/or concert venues this city has to offer.
