Beautiful view of the RIver, Statue of Liberty and the stars if you get a room on the waterfront side.  Good sheets, Bulgari lotions and soaps in the bathrooms and free shoe shine service they deliver first thing in the morning.

The bar opens up a terrace in the summer wher you can drink and enjoy a great view.

I loved our room. It was amazing.  I think there have been enough reviews written about them and the pictures are all up online.

My only gripe was that after using the Club Lounges at the Ritz in Palm Beach and the Ritz in Key Biscayne, I'd say this location's food is quite *blah*. From my previous experience I was expecting it to be pretty amazing especially since it was New York, but honestly, besides the breakfast, the rest of the food serving were a real let-down.

My sister and I put our parents up for the night here as part of the celebration of their birthdays.  They got a Harborview Room which comes equipped with a telescope for checking out Lady Liberty, Ellis Island, the Verazzano and that place known as Jersey.  The room was beautiful and the bathroom was immense and loved every minute of it.

PS.  If you have a Platinum AMEX book your stay through them for extra perks.

Go to the Ritz in Westchester!
I may be partial because I live there but honestly, I couldn't wait to leave the Ritz in Battery Park to get back to mine in Westchester.  I thought it would be more convenient to stay in the city but it definitely was not. Battery Park is so out of the way you honestly should just stay in Westchester. It's 25 min into the heart of Manhattan on the express train that runs until 2am. The hotel has a Bentley that will take you to and from the train station although it's honestly walk-able. But who wouldn't take the Bentley. The hotel rates are also significantly cheaper with a much larger space. The hotel itself is more reserved and attentive out in Westchester than it is down in Battery Park. Honestly, check it out.

BATHROOM REVIEW:

The nicest toilet in the financial district.  If you can hold it after seeing the statue of liberty, this is the place to take a load off and have a nice rest-bit.  Sturdy John, dark mahogany doors and dividers from floor to ceiling, and plush Egyptian cotton towels.  This bathroom has the best insulation by far.  You don't have to worry about outside conversation.  It's just you and Mother Nature working together and taking its course in the daily cycle of excretion.

NOTE:

I don't know if it's nerves or it's because I'm a high maintenance when it comes to toilets, but I prefer to do my thinking in a first class establishment than a cesspool.  Sometimes, you don't have a choice and when "you got to go, you got to go", but when you do have a choice, I highly recommend doing your business in the nicer establishments.  I have not personally stayed at these fine hotels, but when I had to use the bathroom I walked in pretending that I owned the place and fully observing, experiencing, and appreciating their fine clean-up amenities.
In many NYC hotels, the bathroom may not be on the ground floor or nearby the front desk either.  Go to the second floor, climb the staircase, head towards the hotel restaurant or café.  If you still can't find the bathroom, head to wear the conference and banquet rooms are as well where the pool and gym areas are.  There's bound to be bathrooms there.

We won't stay anywhere else. Period.  It was that good.

OK I really wanted to stop there, but I will elaborate a little more.

The Ritz has the best service around.  I love the view of the water & lady liberty.  After years of staying in midtown, it was really nice being away from it all .  I liked that it was closer to Soho/Little Italy/Chinatown for shopping and restaurants. The Rise Bar is on the roof overlooking the water and the Statue of Liberty with the most beautiful sunsets.  The food and drinks are great up there too.   It was just a short walk to Wall Street and the South Street Seaport.  We actually got our room at a very reasonable price too compared to other hotels in the same category.

Like I said, it doesn't get much better than this & we won't stay anywhere else!  Love it!

Went to a wedding here at The Rise and the view is just amazing.  Their terrace is nice too... you have a feel of a garden with the view of the Statue of Liberty.  Service at the hotel is also great.  I've stayed here a couple of times and I think it is a nice getaway from the "city" feeling.  On nice days you can walk around Battery Park and feel like you are away from home.

Maybe because I sat ten feet away from Elie Wiesel as he spoke during a women's benefit social celebration when I went here that I'm giving the Ritz-Carlton 5 stars. Maybe I was drunk about halfway through the night, but the venue for such events is perfect. Intimate and grand both gave this place a sense of transcendence as I found myself being lifted up by the greatness of a man speaking at the podium while my wine kept me up there.

GREAT rooms in terms of size and views but there is NOTHING to do at the location (downtown manhattan). You have to walk a great distance to any eats, bars (if not even take the subway). And if its a weekend, pray that the closest subway is running, bc it's usually not--I've actually had to walk to the Path station E one time, and everything is either closed or closes early.  Very close to Battery Park, Staten Is. Ferry and Wall St, but again, location hurts when you want to go out for food/entertainment. Location also hurts when trying to get a taxi and trying to get to upper manhattan will take time this way.

Breakfast is no good. I have not had any other food at the restaurant bc I was dissapointed every time I ate breakfast. The high bar has nice view, but has approx. 5 tables, if that, and maybe 2 hightops. Very cramped, but usually not packed because there is no one who hangs out downtown except the hotel patrons who may be there. Has a balcony which is a plus. Closes pretty early though.

Service = great. Bathrooms are huge and rooms are amazing...Beds = awesome...I have never slept in a better bed. And views again are unlike most other hotels. Decor is on the modern, almost art deco side, which is refreshing. It's never crowded or packed with a tourist scene, which I like as well. Obviously there are going to be tourists, but they are more discreet than the usual kind you see coming out of hotels in midtown wearing birkenstocks and a green bay jersey, looking upward at all times.

Overall I would highly recommend it, but keep in mind the location if that is something that bothers you. And eat outside of the hotel.

I've stayed at quite a few hotels in New York and I am never, ever impressed. The rooms are always disappointingly small, especially for the amount of green you are dropping a night and little details such as chipped paint or weird stains seem to the norm.

And then there is the Ritz Carlton, Battery Park. Most people know by now that I am a hard girl to impress, in fact, since Yelp, I RELISH in bad experiences because I can give scathing commentary and feel better knowing I have done the world a favor.  With that said, I could not find anythingterribly wrong with the Ritz, infact just the opposite. The rooms were nice, not over the top but very nice. I had a harbor view and could see the Statue of Liberty from my room. It was such a good view with the telescope they provided in the room!! What?? Yes, there was a telescope in my room!! Big points for that!

The tv was not that impressive, it was large but it was no 26 inch plasma flat panel that comes almost standard in hotels of this caliber, which was disappointing because when I am not working, I am laying flat on my back channel surfing on a tv that I can only drool about when I am dreaming in my dreams.

The service here was impeccable which is the main reason why they get 5 stars. They were amazing; it was like they read my mind. What ever I needed, it was already there.  They even had a room for me at 9:30 am. The bed was so nice and get this; they knew I was coming in early on a red-eye and had the bed turned down for me, at 9:30 am! I love chocolate before I fall into a fluffy, warm, cozy bed! I was in choco-hog heaven when I fell face first into my bed.
PSA: Warning- their beds promote stone-cold comas. I fell asleep and was so comfy I missed a meeting. Oops!

If ever given the opportunity to stay at a hotel in New York, given factors such as hard to get to and there is nothing around (hello, subways), I would still stay here over other places because this place is classy and makes me forget that I hail from the bowels of Kentucky.

Team Spider Monkey was VERY well taken care of at the Ritz at Battery Park. We were upgraded to a beautiful suite, gratis, and they comped our mini bar trashings, which took place nightly. AND they never mocked us as we rolled up at 8:00 AM every morning, stumbling out of cabs/limos/jitneys/rickshaws/paddywagons etc. We will be back, be forewarned!

Oh, the bar on the 14th floor is gorgeous as well.

Some may say that the location is less than ideal - I say that's the best part!!  I live in the city and I feel that this spot has an understated charm.  It is peaceful and commotion-free.  Most tourists tend to stay in the midtown area, so here you can relax, enjoy the water view, enjoy the amazing service and wander through Battery Park.  Not to mention it lives up to the standards of a world-class hotel.  I guess its no wonder I chose this venue for my fall wedding - I have no doubt that it will be an elegant affair with great food and ritz-quality service.

Not much to complain about except maybe that they couldn't let me check in early unless I chose to upgrade.  But then again, it was 7AM and check-in is 3PM.  Anyway, since they didn't have my room ready, they let me use the spa locker room to shower and stuff.  And that's pretty much all I would have done in my own room anyway, so that worked out.

New York Times each morning, bed turndown service with chocolates each evening.  Pretty standard stuff.  The bed was awesome though.  Sunk right into it.  Was comfortable enough that I got a decent 1 hour nap between a late night and an early morning flight.  Can't think of any other great highlights since I literally did not spend any time in my room except for sleeping.

Complaints: The doormen didn't always hold the door open for me.  They'd say "good morning" or "good evening" and smile, but wouldn't necessarily open the door.  Minus points.  The hotel is far away from everything else other than Wall Street, but it is fairly close to the subway.  Minus half a point.  One of the towels ripped while I was using it in a completely normal fashion.  Another point deduction.  And lastly, it was a little difficult getting a cab back to the hotel.  Seemed like all but one of the drivers knew about the hotel and didn't have to ask me for directions.  How can a Ritz be so low profile?

I'm a Four Seasons girl.

No, I'm not pretentious, or spoiled! Ok, sometimes I am spoiled. However, I've stayed in almost every type of hotel....Sleep Inn, Hampton Inns, Hyatt, W, Four Seasons, Ritz, Westin....close to everything.

I was never impressed with Ritz Carltons. I always felt like they missed the mark on things that the Four Seasons managed to pull off so effortlessly. So needless to say, I wasn't expecting much at this RC hotel. I was pleasantly surprised.

****Disclaimer****
Since the UN is in session this week, security at the hotel was crazy. There were a zillion cops, & other government agencies posted in and around the hotel. They had a security tent with a xray machine set up on the street. So my experience was probably not your norm.

The Good
Great location if you want some peace & quiet away from the tourists.
The best thing about this hotel is the bed. I could have slept for a whole week. A mountain of pillows and down comforter goodness! Harbor view rooms had a beautiful view of the water, Ms. Liberty & Ellis Island. The marble bathrooms were tastefully decorated & had Bulgari bath products. Most of the staff were very nice.

The Bad
Towels were super rough. The bathtub is way too narrow! I'm not a big girl and I can't imagine anyone who is a little wider being able to fit. Bulgari is nice but the bath products stunk BAD! Holy CHEAP Street Walker!!! Also, room service was a rip off.

More Good
My husband had called a few days in advance to arrange for a few special items for our anniversary. They executed everything perfectly. Beautiful floral arrangement in the room, chocolate covered strawberries (the best I've ever had) and a trail of rose petals from the door to the bed. They did a great job.

More Bad
I spoke to a front desk manager about having a picnic lunch packed for us . He was super nice & assured me he would take care of everything. I was very specific. 1 sandwich & 1 salad of any kind, 2 bottled waters, cheese & fruit. We had to leave the hotel at 5pm for a sailboat cruise, so he told me it would be ready at 4:30. I called down at 4:35 and the front desk had no idea what I was talking about. After speaking with 3 people, a giant bag was delivered to our room at 4:58. Talk about cutting it close! We got 2 sandwiches, no salad, no cheese, juice & like 4 bags of chips. We didn't bother complaining since we were running late. Oh, and don't EVER order their continental breakfast. 2 coffees, 2 OJ, and 6 pieces of plain old toast is $76!!!!! no pastries just bread! We got it for free but were still irritated that they had the balls to charge that much for 2 drinks & bread.

Also, when you pay $400+ for a room per night, they should give you free internet. I mean charging $76 for toast should cover the internet costs, don't you think?

The best thing about this hotel is the view.  Our room faced the Statue of Liberty and there were NO buildings between our room and the statue!  That's amazing!  There was a telescope in the room, but it was of surprisingly poor quality.  The room was big by New York City standards, but not as spacious as most Ritz-Carltons.  The restaurant  was good, but not especially memorable.  The weak point of this hotel is the personnel.  Some were the high caliber you encounter at other Ritz properties, but many were not.  Prepare yourself for sticker shock--our room was $755 a night and it was not a suite.

My family stayed here (free, due to a meeting)
... and being my freeloader self, I decided to hop on board.
Hey, my cheap Asian butt is not one to pass up a free weekend at the Ritz.

Even better? The family left Saturday, allowing me to indulge in the room all by my self for the remainder of the weekend.
Because I was not going to let that $550/night room go to waste.
Think of the starving children in Africa!

Honestly, I wasn't wowed.
It's a hotel room.
We checked in early but couldn't get a harbor view. Our relatives checked in at 11:30 at night the same day and got a spectacular view of the Statue of Liberty.
Their beds were nice, but honestly, it felt just as comfortable as DoubleTree's.
There are too many people trying to cater to your every move.
... I laughed at the woman in the fitness center in the 4 inch heels wiping down the treadmills. Oh, and the woman who walked over to open the door to the gym for me. Yeah, because that was necessary.
... And the cardio machines were old.

And the restaurant food was mediocre.

Really, you pay for the name.
But really... I confirmed my thoughts. People with too much money tend to be really rude.

If you are looking for close proximity to Central Park or Times Square area this is not the Ritz location for you. If you want a quiet location especially on weekends this is it. Area reminds me more of Boston than New York City, with the water views and nearby Seaport area. Located right across the street from Battery Park with great views of the Statue of Liberty. Rooms are usually very reasonable compared to other NYC hotels of similar caliber because it is somewhat off the beaten path. Be prepared to spend $20.00 each way for a taxi ride to the Central Park area. Rooms are getting somewhat worn for a Ritz, not in need of a total make over but will be in a couple of years. Rise Bar located in the hotel, great views, appetizers, and drinks, but expensive, this is a Ritz. Nothing going on at night in the immediate walking area. This is the financial district and it empties out early during the week and is dead on weekends. Of all the NYC hotels I have stayed the service here is by far the best, always friendly and accommodating. Rooms are large and modern for NYC standards.

So this place was amazing... everything Amanda said was true.  I was really impressed with the fresh ice in the room when we arrived.  The room was massive, everyone on the staff was extremely friendly.  The bed was rediculously comfortable.  I loved that it was in a quiter part of town (atleast this weekend).  They had an amzaing chocolate easter display and apparently a great brunch becuase it was booked solid.

They do get bad marks for internet service though.  After paying the price for one of these rooms they want another $13.95 a day to access the internet.  I hate to see that when your basic courtyard marriott gives it away for free.

Attended a wedding reception here last month. The reception and food were perfectly orchestrated and prepared. Most impressive cocktail hour and entrees I've ever encountered in my 20+ years of begrudgingly going to weddings. Beautiful view from the 14th floor lounge, but I didn't feel like paying $40 for a glass of wine. Not much to do in this part of town, unless you're there for a work or family-related thing, I'd save a few bucks and get a room a bit further uptown.

FOOOD REVIEW not HOTEL...but the hotel and bar are great, too.

I eat Breakfast here once in a while and it is out of control, especially when I lived down in Battery Park. The eggs, orange juice, the EVERYTHING is amazing. Real real real chill vibe. You can either sit in the comfy dining area and read the Times with a glass of fresh squeezed OJ and hella good coffee or do the buffet thing which is really high end. The Chef's cooking you whatever you want, completed with savory deserts. Peep this!

We started a weekend In New York here at their rooftop bar on the 14th floor. The view overlooking the river was gorgeous. especially as we hit the deck just before sunset. The drinks are typical NYC prices. $18 for a cocktail, $15 for a glass of wine, but it's worth it just for the view.

Was here for a company meeting from 6-8pm yesterday. We reserved the Skyline Vista room on the 2FL. They passed out whores devours (risotto balls, tuna maki - super cold hard rice ack! (MINUS ONE STAR), lamb chops, quesadillas, goat cheese balls, etc), laid out a bread basket, and Ritz (yes, their own) bottled water. It was open bar. The food was OK. The decor is a bit outdated now albeit the great view. The service was attentive and friendly though. The closest station is the 4,5 @ Bowling Green.

The 14th floor bar at the top of the Ritz Carlton, Battery Park is romantic and fun and a classic New York experience not to be missed.

The view is just amazing. Between ground zero and the statue of Liberty, if this doesn't create a stir then you have no pulse. All gravity aside, it is a sexy experience.

I seem to be drinking alot of champagne, however, I did sample a friends dirty martini and it was filthy good!

This is my idea of bar hopping.

Rise the bar on the 14th floor of the Ritz has one of the best views in NYC.       The drinks are pricey, but the views make it worth while.   They don't compare to the views in SF, but they're as good as they get for the city.

I've stayed at a number of hotels in New York, and this would have to be the best. The room had a stunning view of the statue of liberty and even came with a telescope to get a closer view. The service was fantastic, with everyone there being extremely friendly and helpful. Not a single bad experience with any staff at the hotel. The bar on the 14th floor was also very nice. The buffet breakfast was OK, but nothing special.

Let's just say that I could get used to this kind of living.  A special part of my birthday gift (and to my boyfriend's good fortune at a discount through his company's insurance program) I stayed here on my first visit to the Big Apple. From the moment we got out of the cab we had first class treatment.  Our room was a luxurious 850 sq. foot apartment complete with a guest bathroom off of the foyer, a sitting room, master bedroom and bath, and walk in closet - not to mention silk pajama sets, heavy weight terry cloth robes, and bulgari products in every corner.  Each evening when we entered our room after our long day trekking the streets of NYC, the lights were dimmed, our bed turned down, ice bucket filled, and soft music playing on our Bose alarm clock.  We had breakfast delivered to our room, which was wheeled in on a table and set up with chairs next to our window with a city view.  One night when we returned, I was craving just a simple bubble bath, and when the concierge did not have any available, he sent up a Bath Butler to draw me a candlelit bath of foaming salts and accompanied it with a bottle of wine.  The service was impeccable and the accommodations easy to rave about.  It's enough to say that for my first visit to this city - the hotel was indeed the highlight of the trip!

The Ritz Carlton at Battery Park is fabulous.  I think the Battery Park location is one of its best features.  For those wishing to go uptown, the subway is directly across the street and cabs are plentiful in front of the Hotel.  It is a gorgeous, clean, and exclusive respite from the noise and crowds of 57th street and 5th avenue.   It also has two bars -- a beautiful lobby lounge with attentive service and strong cocktails, and then another bar called Rise on the 14th Floor, which has a view of the Hudson River and the Statute of Liberty.  The concierge and housekeeping staff are very polite and extremely attentive.  The Hotel is also relatively new and is well kept.  Bvlgari products are in the bathroom.  I will always stay here when visiting New York.
