So this little attraction is located in Newport, OR, next to the waterfront.  I was pretty excited to go, since I had been to once of this sideshow attractions in a long time.  Well I was disappointed.

The attraction basically consisted of a bunch of replicas from africa, asia, etc.  Other than some chair that a guy attached ballons to I don't think there was anything original in the entire place.  Most of the items shown were pretty cheesy.  However there were some interesting facts, but not enough to make up for the lack of items/displays and poor displays.  In addition it was fairly short for paying $11.00 to get in.

All I can say is that it wasn't worth the time or money to go in.  I was really disappointed by this attraction.  If you're thinking about it, I'm pretty sure you could skip it.  I didn't bother with the associated wax museum and other attraction.

Way overpriced, a huge ripoff.  Sure the kids would like it, but they will be just as entertained by the barking sea lions across the streets, and they are free.
I mean, most of it was just video footage of ripley's shoes and there were very few actual artifacts, most of it was just crappy reproductions.
Really, don't go.  Take a fishing boat or something instead.
The franchise (wax museum, butterfly house, undersea adventures...just as crappy).  Go to the aquarium.

For the first time, and subsequent trips spaced 5 years apart (enough time to forget maybe half the exhibits), I might give it 3 stars.  It's just not big enough to stay in any more than an hour or two.  Half the exhibits are just tv screens playing Ripley's episodes and clips.

Overall, its fine for visiting once... with a coupon maybe, and for the kids.  It will grow old quickly though.  They did add one thing that was not there 3-4 years ago, a large portrait of Taylor Swift made of Good n' Plenties!

I'll stick with a 3 on this - It's kitschy, a little outdated - the last time I was there it was taking on the look of a ghost town - but that's coupled with the area.

Still a good time to walk through once with the kids.  I don't think I'd recommend it as a yearly deal though (like my awful parents did to me - I probably have a mental map of the entire place)

I think I have been to this place at least a dozen times since I was a child. I don't think they've updated it EVER.
It's kitschy and woth going to once. You can get a pass for the 3 museums for $20. Come on, you only live once!

I'm giving this three stars because it's for kids and kids like it. Adults will be bored out of their mind. This might just be because we grew up with the TV show Ripleys, and we've been  to Ripleys on the coast every year since birth thanks to school outings, girlscout outings, etc.

I just took my 7 year old son a few months ago, and he loved it. No surprise. I was trying to race my way through. I've seen this stuff so. many. times.

It's worth it for kids, or someone who's never been. I don't recommend this place as a weekend destination or anything.

I wish this was like the one that I went to in the Oldtown Neighborhood in Chicago as a kid. It just doesn't have what one comes to expect if you remember the old show with Jack Palance from the 80's...more like the new, tame show that has aired recently - not-so-exciting.

I don't think it's because I've grown up. I still like curio places. Still if you have kids, it's a nice detour.

I've been to one other Ripley's in SF. This one is comparatively tiny. It is quite outdated and very exploitative. As others have stated, it's overpriced and a waste of your time. It cracks me up that both this and the wax museum exit into their gift shop, as if they haven't absconded with enough of your money already! Go visit the sea lions across the street. They are free and far more entertaining.
