I bought a $30 haircut through Bloomspot (worth $65, which is what my regular stylist charges me; I decided to "cheat" on her because finances were tight). It was exceptionally done by Nichole Glenn at Ringolevio! I was pleasantly surprised by her shampoo massage skills (I'd go back just for that!!), she did exactly what I was looking for which was to just clean up the damaged ends & relayer everywhere while maintaining the length, she patiently and attentively listened and responded to my boy troubles, and she did all this in less than an hour, just as I'd requested. Thanks Nichole!

I like this salon and the location a lot, and I love that I can bring my doggie!! The truth is I go because of Anna Mae, and I would follow her to the Tendorloin if that is where she went!! (hopefully that wont happen though!!). I have been going to Anna Mae for 10 years now I think. She always does the most amazing work, The color is perfection! and the cut is also always perfect. Gets better everytime if that is even possible. Additionally I am happy to count Anna Mae as a friend after all these years, she is warm and wonderful and adores my dog!! We always laugh and have a lot of fun when I spend 2 hours there in the chair! I highly receommend her, you will be very pleased.

Lori D'Ambrosio is the genius who whips my baby-fine, limp, dishwater-blonde hair into one cool cut after another.  Random people are constantly asking who cuts my hair. Panhandlers spot my gorgeous highlights and yell, "Hey lady with the pretty hair...have any spare change?"
My friends, my 18-year-old son, my step-daughter, their friends travel from all over the Bay Area to visit Lori at Ringolevio. She's technically brilliant. She's charming. Small wonder she's built up a cult following--talent like hers is incredibly hard to find. Join us!

The one star is not for the hairdressers it is for the customer service before you even get to them! I called this morning to try and set up an appointment with Marisol Cubas who I used to see there. I was told that she was no longer there. I explained what I needed, haircut and color stripping then color and highlights.

I was reading the reviews on Yelp and saw that Lori seemed to be the one that people were happy with regarding the cuts they received. I told the receptionist what I needed and she mentioned Lori. I asked if I could speak to her and see if she and I would be a good fit. They said she would call me back when she had a free moment. That was fine as I am home today.

I just got a call from a Kamrin (spelling) instead of Lori. He stammered about how she did not do correction color (which is fine) and that she was busy and he could see me. I said I could wait on the color just wanted a haircut consult. I just had a bad haircut at another salon, don't want to repeat it! He acted like she was not taking new clients. If so then just say so! All we did was go back and forth! I finally said, "Forget it, this is not very good customer service"! When you get a bad feeling and have not even set foot in the door that tells me "Don't go"!! They just pass you around!!

While all of this was transpiring I was reading more reviews and found Marisol's phone number. I have called her and she is at "Head's First Salon" right on Union down the block from here! I am going to see her. I can only imagine why she left!! I know she is great as I have seen and known her from the past.

So I'm still new to the city and have been looking for someplace to get my hair "did" that wasn't outrageously cost in-effective. Tried a few smaller shops in my area and was tired of getting the typical hack-job, so I decided to give Ringolevio a shot. Called in the morning and the very friendly receptionist helped me book my appointment the same day with Ney. The salon is upstairs but (unlike other yelpers) doesn't take a genious to figure out how to find the entrance. Once there I was greeted by Ney and was promptly washed and in the chair.  There wasn't a specific style I was trying to achieve so I just told him I wanted it ...shorter.  After about 45 minutes of causal banter I was impressed with the results. To my dismay no clippers were used as Ney worked with surgical precision cutting and styling.  Finally I have found my San Francisco stylist. Thanks Ney!!

I would not book an appointment with Nicole.

She is way overbooked and has zero flexibility to work with you if you have to reschedule your appointment.  Granted, I had to cancel last minute because the appointment was @ 2PM on a Wednesday, but I had to wait over 3 weeks to even get in with her!!! I think it's due to her Bloomspot offering, even though Nicole insisted it had no correlation. Apparently, it's due to the holiday season! Please. The fact of the matter is, I don't normally wait 3 weeks for a haircut appointment (oh, I could have waited another 2 weeks for a weekend appointment!) so a little bit of flexibility would have been nice.  She also said she worked to 11PM the night before and was going to work to 9PM the day I tried to reschedule/work something out.  So, It sounds like she's either the "Jesus of hair" with a ridiculous following or she ....... overbooked.

There are plenty of other stylists in the city who would have at least TRIED to work something out (just HUMOR me).  I know I was wrong to try and reschedule last minute so I'm no angel (I did however, call earlier in the day to see if there was any other availability), but the thing that really irritated me was the fact she didn't seem to care about customer service. All she cared about was "her time" and the "holiday season business" and the fact she has a "24 hour cancellation policy" and the Bloomspot "forfeiture of voucher".  I mean, can you really blame her? She had like 900 other appointments that week, so why should I really matter? I'm just some schmuck who works for a living!  At the end of the day - I would check Nicole's availability FIRST before buying any type of reduced price service with her.  Otherwise you'll have to wait a long, long, long time for your golden hour of hair service.

I hope she enjoyed her "free" hour and $$.  It sounds like she really needed the open time to rest.

Bottom line: AVOID AT ALL COSTS if you have curly/wavy hair.

About a month after my haircut, my hair is just as awful if not worse. Usually after my hair grows out a bit, even a bad hair cut looks decent. This time, I've actually had a couple people (including my mom) ask me, wow... where did you get your hair cut? and not in a good way.

Nichole cut my curly hair as if it was straight (wet, pulled straight.) Now, after air drying or blow drying with styling lotion, the curls splinter every which-way and basically is an unmanageable mess. My only option is to tie my hair up or blow dry it straight.

I would not recommend this place at all. It's terrible.

I bought a $30 haircut (worth $65) and had a great experience with  Nichole Glenn. I have (or had) long thin straight hair and asked her to "help" me get something stylish for the upcoming SFS Centennial Gala; she did just that! She cut and styled my hair so that I could style it in no time and now it looks healthier and thicker (which is not an easy task)
    Thank you Nichole!

I had purchased the groupon to get a wash, scalp massage, cut and blow dry for $30 and wow, I am impressed!

Nicole is great! She probably has given me the best hair cut I've had in a long time. She made really simple suggestions about what I should do with my layers that completely made sense and it turned out for a great cut. Why my prior hair stylists haven't understood what I've meant by "layers around my face" and "I take two minutes to get ready every morning so give me a style to work with" -- I don't know why.

Anyway, Nicole took her time and I could tell she didn't really care she was only making 30 bucks for the cut (though I did give her a nice tip). I'll most likely be going back =)

If you have any kind of event you are attending, you MUST see Nichole!

I went for a trial for my upcoming wedding (!!!!!) and she was very open to what I had in mind, and didn't do the ever-so-annoying "I'm a hairstylist, I'm going to do something completely different to your hair, and you WILL like it" routine that soooooo many artists seem to do.  (WHY? WHY!?)

She listened to what I wanted, and with the VERY FIRST try got it exactly how I pictured! I went back a couple months later just to tweak it a bit, and it was even better than before! (IF that's even possible!)
What I like about her most, is she is compassionate and listens to what you want to achieve, she'll give her opinion, if and when needed, but ultimately makes sure you leave the salon happy and with what you came in looking for.  She told me I need to grow out my bangs, and that's what I'm doing, I totally trust her! She's very artistic, and very good and what she does.

I can't wait for her to work her magic on my big day! My mother and sister are so impressed with what Nichole did with my hair, that they are having their hair done by her as well.  She's very affordable for the amazing work she does, and I highly recommend her!

When I am going to get a hair cut I want it to be a relaxing and casual experience.  The entire staff at Ringolevio, starting with Bob, the owner, is friendly and outgoing.  I have had my hair cut but Bob, Kamirin, andnow jennifer and all are outstanding.  I have even had facials from Kathleen and massages from Jamie, whose rooms are clean and their bedside manner is amazing.  My Practice is built on customer service and this saloon has customer service nailed down!!!!

I am a serial stylist hopper and always weary when visiting a salon just for layers. Every time I request the stylist to keep my length I always come out with 3 inches chopped off. What part of don't cut my length don't they understand?

I used to have a short bob and trying to grow it out, so my hair is at that awkward soccer mom length. I made an appt with Nichole Glenn as she was recommended by a friend. Nichole is really sweet and took a lot of time trying to gauge exactly what it is I was looking for.

I told her my hair just needs some life and bounce as I am growing it out and don't wish to take any length off. After analyzing my current situation she did recommend I take at least 1/2 inch off for a healthier look. I was totally fine with 1/2 inch and got exactly what I wanted!

I couldn't even tell that my hair was slightly trimmed and my layers look amazing, lots of volume and sex appeal =) It was a great experience and I would definitely come back since I can now trust her.

I won a gift certificate in a raffle from Underdog Rescue to Ringolevio, called and talked to Bob about my crazy idea and got an appointment with him in a week! (which was a big deal since I was leaving the state) Having never been to the salon before, the drive was quick, parking pretty findable (and 2-hours free!) and the salon itself had a nice big sign and was easy to spot.

Bob did a great job with my hair, I brought some crazy pictures but we tamed it down a bit. It took almost 3 hours but was totally worth it, I now have blonde highlights with dark chestnut layers with auburn tips on the inside. I'm definitely coming back for touch-ups/fix-ups whenever I'm in town. Super friendly and personable staff, affordable ($145 + tip for this trip) and overall a very enjoyable experience.

Ask for Anna Mae Braun. Anna Mae has been cutting my hair for close to 20 years, and my styles have been short, long, and everything in between. My thick, wavy hair can be tricky to cut (many others have failed), and I have always been happy with haircuts from Anna Mae. She listens to what I want before she starts to cut. Anna Mae also colors my hair and applies highlights. I moved to Palo Alto 14 years ago, and she's worth the drive to San Francisco.

I had limp difficult hair, but Lori at Ringolevio really figured it out.  She studied my hair and the shape of my face and ears, then boldly (with my permission, of course) cut it really short on the bottom, with fullness on top.  It really works for me and the way I live.  She also did color streaks that look great and give it a lot more body.  And she showed me how to use gel and the blow dryer to make it work by myself.  I love it and get a lot of compliments.
I noticed that the people who came before and after me had completely different hair types and cuts, so I think she gives everyone the style that works for their hair and way of life - both men and women.

Bob recently cut and highlighted my hair and I'm very pleased with the results. When I asked him what cut and shape would give my hair a more sophisticated style he proposed a couple different ideas and I decided to give him creative license to create the look. I couldn't be happier, every time I look in the mirror I'm like "yes!!" Never before has a hair stylist given me a look that I can actually duplicate at home. 5 stars for Bob. I'd definitely recommend Ney and Nelaine as well. Both of them have blow dried and styled my hair and I never have to worry because every time they do my hair it is flawless. The rates are very fair for their service too.

In addition to the stylists, I've seen Kim (aesthetician) and Jaime (massage therapist), and have been impressed with their work as well. Not only is Kim one of the most knowledgeable aestheticians I've ever met, she is hilarious. She is up on the latest facial and waxing technology and has even found a way to give painless extractions. After a facial with her I don't leave red-faced and slathered in product, rather I leave with my skin looking and feeling fresh. Jaime gives one heck of a massage too! So far I've seen her for belly and swedish massage and can say that she's awesome. She's consistent with the amount of pressure she applies and is responsive to my comments about what areas need work.

Ringolevio is professional and friendly, the best combination. It is worthy of the five star rating for sure. I'll definitely be back.

I held off on writing a review because although I loved the cut and my stylist, I didn't think the salon was quite luxurious enough to warrant 5 stars. Well, luxury is overrated. My hair looks so much better since I've been seeing Jennifer O'Neill, and at the end of the day that's what counts. It's affordable and fabulous! You have to book months in advance, and parking can be a vile trip to hell, but believe me, it's worth it. I actually get compliments on my hair now, something totally new to me. Thank you, Jennifer!

Seems like all the stylists at this place are excellent but unfortunately I'm gonna have to bring the ratings down. For those people who bought the groupon, Nichole is the only one who accepts them and I can see why she needs the extra clientele. She is horrible at what she does! I told her the kind of cut I want and absolutely no bangs and she gives me the shortest bangs I've ever had! I was dissatisfied immediately after the cut and she tried to fix it by cutting it even shorter. I was hoping it would grow out nicely just to give her a second chance but it's been 6 weeks now and somehow it looks even worse. No way am I ever skimping on hair cuts now cuz my hair ends up suffering the cost instead. Avoid Nichole! She's all talk and has no idea how to wield scissors to cut hair.

Looking for The Best highlights in the bay area? Call Marisol Cubas at Ringolevio. (415) 921-2335

Seriously, I have never gotten better highlights anywhere. Marisol is meticulous. I have a lot of very curly hair. I'm very lucky that way. I frequently get compliments on it and questions about where I get my hair done. But most people assume I have a perm and the color is natural. They never believe I have highlights. Marisol uses these special papers instead of foil, which allows her to get closer to the scalp. So not only do you get the most fabulous highlights they last longer then the mediocre ones.

She's also great at cutting hair and she's very reasonably priced too!

Go see Marisol. You won't be sorry.

I had posted this review for Anna Mae when she was at London Lass.  She has since moved to Ringolevio and I thought it only fair to repost, since my review was really about her and not about the salon.  Ringolevio is fantastic.  My first time in I was offered a glass of wine and just hung out chatting with all the hairdressers.   Very welcoming people.

Now, on to the important part of this review, Anna Mae:

When I first moved to SF, I didn't know where to go and ended up at a Super Cuts.  BIG mistake.  I have very thick, naturally curly hair. I told them  I wanted layers.  The woman cut my hair dry and added in a shelf. I was miserable!  A co-worker who has similar hair recommended Anna Mae Braun.  I went to see her and have never looked back.

I love Anna Mae! She does amazing things with my hair.  I have sent multiple people to her and they all love her as well.  She's not only a wonderful hair dresser, she's just someone that you want to spend time with and has become a friend.  She makes me laugh.  Heck, one time I even went in as a bit of a basket case after getting dumped and she was even more glorious than before.  How often does one find wit, charm and talented skills in a hairdresser?

If you want good hair, I highly recommend her!

I am one of hundreds of people who bought a groupon for a cut and blow dry from Nicole Glenn.  The day after purchase I left a message to set up my appointment. Nicole responded within an hour.

Today I ventured to Ringolevio for my cut and dry. Though I agree with Trisha that the suite number was slightly confusing, I found the salon with no problems.  Nicole was right with me and before we began, asked what I had in mind.  I usually like to let my stylist make suggestions based on my hair, face shape and goals (right now I'm trying to grow it out, don't want bangs and like low medium maintenance hair).  After listening to all this, Nicole came up with a cut suggestion and reference to the style she suggested (a long bob a la Gwyneth Paltrow, who has the same square face shape as me). Then she got to work!

The final product was exactly what we discussed and Nicole gave wonderful tips on how to style it.  She was also very pleasant to chat with but didn't lose focus.  The groupon price for a haircut was a good deal but her regular fee is still great and I would definitely go back.

My coworker came to work one day with a fabulous new haircut and gorgeous  highlights. I couldn't help myself and complimented her new look in the middle of a meeting.  She immediately started raving about her new stylist, Marisol Cubas, at Ringolevio. What a small world, I respond, she's been cutting my hair for years and now does all of my friends' hair as well. Not only do her haircuts and highlights rock but she's really cool and lots of fun!  I'm lazy and hate doing anything other than washing and air drying but when I have something special coming up, I always schedule an appointment with Marisol right before and that way my hair is perfect every time, check her out for yourself!

After years of looking for the perfect blonde highlights at a reasonable price, I finally came upon this cute little Salon located in my hood.

Nelanie is an amazing colorist and also does a nice cut.  She is from Brazil and her dad, Ney, works at Ringolevio as well.  She gets the color super close to your scalp so you don't have to come back monthly for more color. I highly recommend her for perfect highlights at great prices.  She is super sweet and it's not a pretentious place at all.  You can actually relax while your head is covered in tin foil.

If you are reading my review, you must be looking for a good hair salon in your area. Well, congratulations! You found the right place! I have been coming here to see Nay since I moved to the city. Nay does an excellent job with the cut I want with a little European twist. I started cutting hair in 2004 at Aveda in Chicago and can be quite picky about who I let touch my hair. I am so happy that some of my Brazilian friends introduced me to Nay. It can be difficult to find a good stylist at a reasonable price in the city. So, what are you waiting for? Call Ringolevio and ask for Nay, today!

I know I look really good in short hair......but finding a stylist who knows how to do a precision cut is a very difficult thing.......that is, until I met Lori D'Ambrosio!  She absolutely took the full hour of my appointment, cutting and shaping my hair while all the while checking in with me about what I thought.  Lori made what could have been a very scary experience into a fun and liberating experience.
Going from shoulder length hair to a really sassy, very short hairdo takes artistry on the stylist's part and courage on the client's part.  Together, we achieved success but mostly I give all credit do to Lori!  And one more thing......I am loosing my salt and pepper color to the salt side.  Lori works with me to put some of that great pepper color back with low lites.....a very difficult task as I am allergic to something in hair color.  She carefully paints on the color WITHOUT actually touching my scalp......keeping me from experiencing a itchy negative reaction and the results are very natural looking.
And one last thing......she is a great chair therapist...it's really fun going to my appointment every 6 weeks!

John Yaskevich has done my cut and color for at least two years now. I have really thick hair and some hairdressers actually complain to me that they "have" to do my hair. It doesn't even faze John. He is not only great with cut & color, he's fast and his prices are reasonable. I was referred to John by a coworker who was referred to him by a friend, and all of us still keep going  back because he's awesome.

I have been going to Lori D'Ambrosio for over 20 years now.  I have fine hair that I never let get too long because it just doesn't work for me.  She has taken me through many styles and age ranges!   I repeatedly get compliments on my haircuts.  I NEVER spend more than 10-15 minutes in styling.  She also does color that looks VERY NATURAL.  I will never go to anyone else for color because of the care she takes to make it look like it comes from God instead of from a bottle.

Loved Jennifer O'Neil! She was so precise, careful and very detailed when it came to my highlights and cut! Something that is RARE, I find. And all of their products (fairly certain) are Vegan and smell great!!!

KAMIRAN is amazing!  He is better than any color specialist I've been to- and I've been getting highlights for 14 years!  He listens, hes talented, uses quality color, my hair looks very natural.  Kamiran was able to create the exact shades of blonde I described... beige and carmel, his prices are more than fair and the salon is nice.  I'm very critical and obsessive of my hair.... and I am very happy with his work.

I have been a client of Lori D'ambrosio at Ringolevio for many years:10+!
Lolo, as I call her, has gently guided me through many genres and styles saying "well maybe not for you Susan, or that would be great."  She has transformed a crazy ball of curls and frizz to total glamour, a true miracle by any standard. She patiently consults, advises, and deftly handles those scissors with skill and finesse. Lolo applies color and the correct accents to give depth and interest to a graying head. When you are in Lolo's chair, by the window overlooking the historic Octagonal House and its pretty garden, you are treated like royalty. There are good magazines, juicy gossip, movie and restaurant reviews, andy everything you want in a well-managed, friendly salon; including Lolo's open ear and smart conversation. Go and discover for yourself.

I also followed Ana Mae over from London Lass to Ringolevio.  She's great, good with my hair color, easy going, fun to visit with and warm and friendly.  The salon overlooks the Octagon House on Union street and has a nice warm feeling.  I enjoy my visits there and recommend the place highly.

John Yaskevich has been highlighting my naturally colored brown hair to a golden blonde with blonder highlights. He has been doing my hair for more than 10 years and I could not be happier. I don't like that I have to drive to the city and look for parking but really in the long run, I'd almost drive anywhere to get the highlights he is able to do. I don't often get cuts from him, but when I do they too are great. He has had top training and it shows. He is very popular so book him way in advance....come to think of it, why I am praising him,,,,,now I'll never get in! He is fantastic at his color blends, I get a lot of compliments on my hair, people think I am naturally blonde - ha!  I have referred 6 or 7 people who are also addicted to his color abilities.

I have lived in SF for 4 1/2 years and I had yet to find a stylist that seemed justified in charging $60 or $70.  I realize that is the going rate, but just because everyone charges that should not  be a green light for mediocrity or worse!  For a while I was frustrated with blah results, so I started going to Cinta Aveda, a beauty school that charges $15 for haircuts.  Their job was no better or worse than other haircuts I had gotten at higher priced salons!  The only problem is, they take 2 hours to do a simple cut since they're students.
Then I found Helene Renee - wow, am I happy!!  First of all, she is really down to Earth, very innovative without going over the top, and really wants you to feel your best when you leave.  She even offered to do my makeup free of charge over the holidays.  What I find interesting about Helene Renee is that she actually knows exactly what's in all of the products she uses and understands which ones in the stores are marketing to be more "natural" and which ones are actually good for your hair.
I can't say enough about how happy I am to have found this salon, and I now make all of my highlight and cut appointments here.  When I asked for highlights, she gave me the perfect color (normally they are either too light or so subtle that I can't see them).  I will be a regular here indefinitely!

Recently relocated here from So Cal and have been with my stylist for 26 years at a well known Beverly Hills salon.  I have short hair and I am extremely picky, but I did my research here on Yelp and found Lori D'Ambrosio, she did a FABULOUS job on both my cut and color (Red, not easy to do).  I will definitely be back again!  Thanks Lori!

I have been going to Helene Rene for my hair needs for over 20 years.  Never a bad cut, never a horrible color.  Helene always listens to what you want.  The only person who can touch my hair is Helene.  She is absolutely the best in the business.  Walked away once again today very happy.  Thanks Helene.
