Phenonenal staff, amazing selection.... a bit pricier, but I think it's a minor investment to support a local store with an awesome guest experience all the way around.  It was  *FUN* to shop the day before Christmas. That's madness.... Thanks ladies! Hope the husband did muck up Christmas Eve din din, and you got home on time! THANK YOU!

Walked in for the first time hoping to get a couple of frames repaired - one had been badly mauled by an inept technician at another optician. 15 minutes and there back in shape. The other frame ideally needed an earpiece replaced, which they could only repair as they don't carry Gucci frames. They recommended I first try to order through my original supplier but gave me an estimate for a solder fix. Very friendly and helpful and to top it off would not accept any payment for the adjustment on the first frame!
As it turns out, I'll need a new frame for pair two - and I'll be buying it here!

Oh, what a pleasant, fun shopping experience it was.  Compare this to the rotten experience my wife and I had at the obnoxious, snotty Michael Quinn in downtown Mill Valley.

The sales clerk, Stacy (Stacey?) was extremely helpful, obviously having fun at the job.  She had us try dozens of different frames, and even though I wasn't planning on getting a pair for myself, we were having so much fun that we ended up spending a rather obscene sum for two pairs of glasses.

This business has a wider selection of frames than Michael Quinn, and the total experience was so much more pleasant.  Rather than being told to come back when we were serious so that I wouldn't waste their time, Stacy was engaging, knowledgeable and very attentive.

I'm not sure if I'd ever plan to spend nearly a thousand dollars for a pair of prescription glasses, but if you want a pair of fun glasses, I cannot imagine a better place.

I've wanted glasses for as long as I can remember, but I didn't want to look like I was *trying* too hard to be one of the bespectacled cool girls. Girls with glasses are taken more seriously as they appear smarter. It's true!

I'm an editor & since getting my new glasses I've actually gotten two jobs I just know I would never have gotten without my perfect frames.

"Lisa" helped me in December & not only did she find me The Glasses, but she listened to me to learn what it was I was hoping to achieve. Lisa brought out a variety of frames & even though I liked the very first pair she had me try on, she insisted I try on more as she explained glasses as an accessory were a very important purchase.

She was right & I now own the hippest pair of Sama frames any girl could ever want or wish for. If Lisa had shown me the neat little box those frames nest in when not being worn, I would have bought them just based on the case alone.

The Rims & Goggles store has frames for every face & style you can imagine. If you're like I am & become overwhelmed by too many choices, Lisa or any of the other help (I witnessed more than one purchase while I took my time) will narrow down your choices. They've all got great taste!

If you need new glasses or your first pair ever, Rims & Goggles will not let you down.

The glasses they carry are some of the best I've ever seen, I now have 3 pairs just from this store alone!

And the ladies working in the store are so sweet and made me feel great after just 5 minutes of conversation, thank you R&G!

Going to the eye doctor for my annual visit is not the most fun thing I do each year, yet I know I should.  God knows I might be developing cataracts or whatever and early detection is always better.

I have great eye insurance, but I only get about $100 credit for frames, and for $100, you can't get anything creative.  In that price range, they all look the same.

I have a break in Strawberry Village every day for about 20 minutes and I've always admired Rims & Goggles'  trendy displays and large variety of frames.  So ... I decided to venture in to see if I could find anything I liked.

Well, I did and I did.  Guido greeted me as I walked in.  I told him I was looking for a unique frame and so after looking at my face and taking it all in, he disappeared for about three minutes and came back bearing a dozen different frames.

I tried each of the different pairs on and none of them really rang either of our bells.  He scooped them up, and came back a minute later with more.  My frame was not in this group either.  Finally, on the third try (isn't there something about the third time being a charm?) we found the perfect frame.  As soon as I put them on, we both smiled in agreement.  Voila!

I made the purchase and when I took the frames to my optometrist, for my annual eye visit, I showed him the frames.  I expected some enthusiasm, but he sighed.  I asked what was the matter and he told me that, sad to say, he can't stock "up-scale" frames because the vast majority of clients in Santa Rosa won't shell out the money necessary to buy the quality of my frames.

I put them on and he and his wife both looked at each other and in unison said, "Now that's a great looking frame!"

Thanks Rims & Goggles for having such a great selection!

I really wish I had a better experience here because I was so excited to finally be shopping for glasses but I was approached with a pompous snob who hated life, his job, and breathing.

I wasn't bothering any of the sales people because I wasn't greeted so I just assumed they were too busy to help me and proceeded to look alone. Not knowing what I wanted I asked a sales person if I could try on some glasses and had some questions. I ask if these glasses come in a certain color which I had tried on at a different store and he sighs, looks at the case and continues sighing and says tells me some excuse so he doesn't have to go get the look book. Finally, he gets the book because I say I'd like to have it written down and writes my name on a card and files it away. He explains to me that its "store policy" that he cannot share the glasses names/colors with me and sounds pathetic, irritated, mad, dumb, and ugly. He doesn't even offer to show me other colors or something similar. I write it down anyway because that is the dumbest policy in the world and I walk away as he sighs for the 100th time and he doesn't even TRY to sell anything or give any service.

At this point my boyfriend had to leave the store to refrain from being rude.

I walk to the front counter, complain about him and the girl is surprised that he is a jerk. I will never, ever go into this horrible place again. His name is GUIDO (according to urban dictionary, guido is a "sad pathetic excuse for a male" ) and I hope that he reads this and realizes that he need an attitude adjustment, an intervention on how to be a happier person, and someone to punch him in the face.

And I really hope his manager reads this and knows that I went to 20/20 Optical in San Rafael and spent $600 dollars within the first 15 minutes of being in there and I will continue to tell everyone my bad experience at Rims and Goggles.

I finally went to R&G after aimlessly visiting a heap of shops, trying on frames, receiving little or no advice.  Rims and Goggles was completely different.  The sales assistant was beyond great.  I tried on tons of glasses and completely appreciated the feedback.  I narrowed it down to a coupla of frames and she had me try them on in front of a full length mirror - so I could get the overall effect.  Voila, the choice was obvious.  The frames were not nearly as expensive as I anticipated.  The digitized lenses are $$$ but HEY, these things work for reading, computer and distance.  Excellent.

Ho damn there is no way my snarky little Yelp review could possibly convey just how much this place rocks.  Wifey was going full-blown bat-sh*t crazy running around Marin and SF looking for THE PAIR of glasses, and let me tell ya', it was not fun anymore.  Enter Rims & Goggles...and heck, the prices were steep, but not the steep-est - especially given the mindbendingly great service we had.  And we're difficult, pain-in-the-bootay customers, and could even be considered EON (Every Optician's Nightmare): tough prescription, can't decide on a whole slew of pricey frames, various problems every step of the way, that sorta thing.  Through unyielding patience and flexibility (even when they thought we might buy a frame elsewhere), these folks easily worked out all the rough edges without battering us to the ground and instead made us happy campers without any smoke & mirrors.  Nice goin'!

Rims & Goggles in Mill Valley is the ONLY place for fashionable eye wear.  The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and really strives to make my purchasing experience really positive.  The quality of the collection of eye wear is unbeatable anywhere in the Bay Area.  It is worth traveling across a bridge!!!

believe the hype!  this place is great.  i went in last week to pick out a new pair of frames after reading the great reviews from fellow yelpers.  i was greeted and helped by Gina.  she helped hone in on what type of frame i was looking for and promptly brought me many pairs to try on.  she was great to give me feedback about what colors and style looked best with my face shape, coloring, etc., which i greatly appreciated.  i found the perfect pair, but, alas, Rims & Goggles does not accept my insurance (VSP).  sigh.  Gina was understanding and made a note of the frame that i liked, telling me, if i couldn't find another frame within my network, i could purchase the frame from them and get the lenses put in by a provider.  i'm still searching for the frame within my network, but i know my backup is Rims & Goggles.

the frames were all different price ranges... the one i found was made by R&G and was $250.  others i tried on were up to $400, which would definitely be too much if i were paying out of pocket.

Having to get prescription glasses for the first time is daunting. Guido was great and extremely helpful. He and other staff answered my dumb questions without a problem. I now have two pair of glasses and am very satisfied. Keep up the good work. I will be back and will send my other family members and friends.

I had a very unprofessional and bizarre experience here. I typically go to the city, but wanted to try something local. I went to have some high index lenses replaced, when I went to pick them up they were not the thickness that I ordered. Rather than apologizing for the mistake, they called it a misunderstanding and said I needed to pay $100.00 more and reorder and wait for the lenses I originally ordered. As a small business owner, I would never place the problem back onto the client. The manager did not see this as their mistake, but out of  "good faith" offered me 20% off. When I told her this was unacceptable she had the tech put my old lenses back in, which were clearly more scratched up from the handling of taking them in and out. She then gave me a refund. I  emailed the owner, who was unavailable by phone, to discuss the issue. Rather than listening to my experience, she emailed me back after speaking with the manager. She declined that a mistake was made on their end and sent a rather attacking email. It seems they must be treating other customers this way because the store appeared to be empty both times I went. For those of  you looking for high quality product and service, I would make the journey to the city. Save yourself some time and frustration in the long run.
