The Rock Body Boot Camps at "The Rock" are challenging, effective and fun. My friend and I joined after both becoming bored with our standard elliptical/run/bike workouts and honestly, I've become a bit addicted to the high energy and group mentality that goes into Riley's sessions.
A typical boot camp consists of repeating quick rotations through planned stations which keep your muscles confused while working them to exhaustion. It's a sweaty affair, but oh! how good you feel when you're done.
Beyond the workouts, Riley's "Rock" is a great space and the trainers are knowledgeable and helpful. Any level of fitness is welcome (as workouts can be adjusted to personal strengths) and the 45 minute classes fly by.
I'd highly suggest Riley Athletics's as a strong alternative to DIY fitness. It's amazing how far you can push yourself when someone else is pushing you. Get yourself to "The Rock"!! -

Two years ago, I was a happy member of LA Fitness and consistently went to the gym at least twice a week, but I couldn't shed those last couple of pounds to go from good to great. On a whim, I tried Ryan's Rock Body Boot Camps with a two month Groupon (shoutout) my friend told me about. For those two months, I went twice a week (coupled with occasional gym visits) and got back into the same shape I was at during my HS football days without the nagging coach and 3 hour a day practices.
I'm still a member of Ryan's Rock Body Boot Camp classes and here are some key reasons why:
1) He consistently keeps his facility clean and updated with new workout equipment to keep the workouts fun and challenging. Not to mention a flat screen to watch ESPN during our cool down.
2) Ryan is an awesome guy who keeps you motivated to push yourself to do your best. Very knowledgable, in shape, and more than willing to give great advice on workout habits, form, diet, etc...
3) The results speak for themselves. I ran a half-marathon last year for the first time and thanks to his once-a-week 40-min interval training boot camp on top of twice a week runs (started running 2.5 months before the run), I had better a better run time than people who trained for 6 months (1:45 if you were curious).
4) Great price points considering the type of equipment and one-on-one attention Ryan offers.
I'm still a member of LA Fitness and attend Ryan's Boot Camp class once a week to keep my shape up, but if you want to shed those last couple of pounds and the gym isn't doing it, there is no doubt in my mind that taking Ryan's class at least twice a week for two months like I first did will get the job done!
