This sushi bar restaurant is very conveniently located for me so I go frequently. The Sushimi is very fresh and comes in large chunks. My son is addicted to the Spicy Spider Rolls, Sake (salmon) and Unagi. Loves em better than pretty much any other food. Great because seaweed, rice an fish is very healthy and because he loathes salads.
Great lunch specials and frequent coupons for so much off given to frequent eaters.
Very courteous service. Voted Best Sushi on the East Side.
Located a stones throw from Hot Yoga.
This place used to be authentic with some GREAT food. I just recently went back here last week and the menu has changed. I was surpised to see things like Honey Walnut Shrimp and Thai dishes on a Japanese menu. Regardless we ordered only the Japanese items. They are trying a new modern spin on some of their dishes. Some work and others don't. The Crab Tower was good, but if you're looking for traditional I wouldn't recommend this place anymore.
I tried the Black Cod thinking I would get something traditional... think again... It was not very good and the portion was an appetizer size. Good thing I was already full.
Went here with a large group yesterday...
The food was good: 4 stars.
The service left a bit to be desired, which is the reason for the 3star rating. I would definitely be willing to give them another shot though, since we had a large group (10-12) and weren't a particularly easy table.
Extra points for taking 20% off the bill with a prime/passport card, minus points for only allowing you to split the bill 3 ways when doing so (2 cards + cash). Still worth doing though, IMO.
Ugh, some haole neighbors seem to think this is good stuff, but it's lacking in just about every way to my taste. Even my son doesn't like it, and I wouldn't think of taking my friends and family from Japan or Hawaii there.
In short, I am unimpressed.
It's a boring place, and I don't do boring.
It's an expensive place for its average quality.
It's a place that charges 5$ for sunomono salad. And for edamame.
It's a place that I probably will forget and not go back to.
This place is not good at all...
We went there after the gym one night and we were hungry! We ordered several different things, including a fried calamari appetizer, and all the food we ordered were over-cooked! On top of that, he fishes are not very fresh, the Udon soups are too salty and don't have the essential bonito & seaweed flavor in typical Udon soups.
It feels like a place to get a drink, not food - I mean, if you wan to get sake cocktails then go for it, but if you're hungry, go somewhere else!
Yummy food.
Sit in the bar or get a tatami room (if you have at least 6 people). The service here can be a little slow but there sushi is excellent and their bento boxes are better than average. The sake cocktails are great for $6, especially the Gingertini, and they make a kick ass dragon roll. I got a picture for proof. I have yet to try their happy hour but, when I can get there before 6, I am partaking. There is a spot right near the QFC around the corner (where you should park in the garage to stay away from the 24 Hour Fitness knobs on the north side) where you can get a chair massage when you are done for $15. Best dessert ever. Almost.
Good sushi, good for a group. Not the best I've ever had but I would go back. Great service and they have private tables in the back.
Went to Happy Hour (4-6pm) here last night - they have a good selection.
I ordered some standards that I always get when I see them on a menu - Spider Roll (6 good-sized pieces), Tuna Poke (large serving served over cucumber and lettuce with a sesame dressing), and Agedashi Tofu. They were all served fresh and just out of the kitchen.
Service is always friendly here, I know I'll be back often. Parking in the complex is a little difficult with the after-work crowds.
I used to live in Kirkland & went here a fair amount because I thought it was pretty good. That was nearly 10 years ago & I guess I have had too many other good sushi experiences since then to put this at the top of my list.
Today I stopped in & had a bento box which was nice, but not fabulous for $11.50. And they charge extra for green tea. So for 1 person, it was $15 w/ a tip.
The bento included a couple of pieces of veggie & shrimp tempura (I'm not a huge tempura fan, but this was super light & crispy!), a few pieces of chicken teriyaki, 4 spicy tuna roll pieces & a small salad w/ green beans/peanut sauce. All decent flavors, but nothing that knocked my socks off (the tempura was the best of all of them IMO).
I was full but not stuffed (good, but not great if you are looking for huge portions). Service was pretty fast (after I waited 5 min at the door). It is definitely clean & it looks like they have a good happy hour & on Saturdays they have a "girls night" type thing that says ladies get happy hour pricing.
I would give it 3 stars, but based on being over priced, combined with the fact that I've had better, I'm knocking it down a star. California rolls are always a good base for the price of a price, and it was $8.95. Although, they did make an awesome devils roll which was very good...just not sure if it's worth $12.95. Wasabi Bistro and Umi's in Seattle is far better.
The sushi portions are very large here. The quality of the fish seems okay but not as fresh as it could be.
I ordered the Kirkland box and it was more food than I could eat.
We arrived when it wasn't super busy and the service was pretty slow. It could have been better.
I'll come here when I want some sushi fast but it isn't my favorite place.
The sound my tummy makes before I dive into my sushi here!
Rikki Rikki has good sushi at a reasonable price. Fish is generally fresh and the food is always consistent.
I suggest getting the crunchy rolls if you are into rolls. The spicy tuna roll never disappoints and neither does the California roll.
The restaurant is nice, with cute make shift tatami rooms in the back.
If you go with a big group, call to see if you can reserve one of the special rooms.
The restaurant is clean and a nice place to go for dinner, service is always good and the servers are attentive. The anime art on the wall is cute and fun to look at.
Take Note: parking can be horrible after work due to the movie theater and gym crowd.
Not just another sushi place in Seattle. Okay fine, it really is just another sushi place in Seattle, but it's really good. It's big and spacious which is near slanderous considering the best sushi is always served in cramped places. The "big" restaurant feel is at first surprising, but very welcoming. The food is not mind blowing, but it's confident and tasty. Lunch specials are generously portion, but more expensive than a typical lunch special, about 9.99 and up. Its late evening operating hours is a truly welcomed novelty for the Eastside. After all, when that 9pm craving for sushi hits few things in life are harder ignore.
I was a bit thrown off from the soft jazz that was playing...Sure, there was a time I enjoyed listening to Kenny G. But that was before I realized that I actually wanted friends and wanted girls to like me.
Last month I spent three weeks in Louisville Kentucky. Every time I went out. EVERYTIME... I wished I could get some Rikki Rikki. There are a lot of great restaurants in Seattle, but nothing makes me know I am at home in Seattle quite like Rikki Rikki. If you like sushi it is the place. The staff is super friendly and if you make weekly visits like I do they will no doubt learn your name and your favorite menu items. The food is consistent and every once in a the staff will offer you a surprise treat that isn't on the menu. I love sushi and for me a great sushi place is clean and has fresh large portions.
On the down side I agree with other posters that parking is difficult because of the gym on the other side of the building.
Cruncy roll every time. Or Devil Roll. best sushi in town, great restaurant service. There is one barteneder in the bar who is rude and has been every time i've been in. I have even had friends say the same thing.
But doesn't keep us from coming back!! Love Rikki
Usually one of my faves in Kirkland, but may have had an off night last night. I am still reeling from puke fest at about 2 am this morning... hmmm I ate Rikki Rikki 8 hours prior. Hmm... something smells fishy.

In the past few years, Kirkland has exploded with new sushi restaurants. In Juanita, within one… Read more »
We have been for sushi numerous times and it is just OK. The rolls aren't anything spectacular and they are a bit overpriced, as many places in this plaza are.
OMG! Huge fish portions in all their sushi and sashimi. Competent, talented sushi chefs, and delectable salads to help round out the meal. Their Rikki Ark is a great way to sample the current sashimi, and the chefs are more than happy to provide you with their specials of the evening to sample.
This is a great place for a celebration--sit at the bar to talk to the chefs, or if you have a large group (six or more), make a reservation and enjoy the partial privacy of Japanese screens in the back. The himachi melts like butter on the tongue, they *do* carry quail eggs, and if you like spice, give their wasabi tobiko a try or their devil roll.
They're also *right* next door to the Kirkland Park Place Theatre, so you can plan a dinner and movie event with your friends or sweetheart.
this review is for the happy hour.
This is one of my work friend's favorite places to go... we go nearly once a week for their happy hour (which is really our dinner). by now, we've tried pretty much every food item on that menu! and the bartenders recognize us. for the happy hour price (e.g. $4 for a roll), the food is amazing ;)
this is what a typical happy hour might look like for us:
for drinks -
house sake
saketini (for something sweeter)
for appetizers -
agedashi tofu
tuna poke
for rolls -
spider roll
unagi roll
spicy tuna roll
NOTE: for happy hour, don't forget your ID! The first time i went to Rikki Rikki with a group, not everyone brought their id's. The bartenders were very strict about not letting our group sit in the bar area even if the no-id people weren't drinking alcohol.
For dinner, they accept the Microsoft prime card!
The two times I came here, I had good experiences. First time it was in the bar, and the second time in the dining room. I'll write about each separately because I'm organized and I like that.
1. Bar- just in time for happy hour! we came in, and ordered few things here and there accompanied by japanese beers. sushi was very fresh, and portions were great! good happy hour!
2. Dining room- i noticed that in the back of the restaurant there is an area where you can sit down traditional style. too bad my back would hurt after a while. just like the happy hour, the portions of my dinner were large, and yummy! the lady who served us was so sweet, and very very VERY attentive. i dont think my tea was EVER left empty. she came constantly to refill- but im not complaining.
Maybe I made a mistake of not trying their Sushi. But nothing on the Sushi list was appealing..., so I tried their Tempura Soba. Mistake. Tempura was very light and crunchy as it should, but the noodle was overcooked and seaweed was undercooked. The soup was over-soy-sourced and no flavor at all. I tried my husband's Nabeyaki Udon. Again the soup has no flavor, only strong taste. It almost tasted like to me that they skip the process of making broth and seasoned water with soy source. Good Japanese chefs would take pride in making good broth because it's the base of many of the items they cook. So, needless to say, I was very disappointed. Or is it only because I grew up in Japan?? I would have given one star based on what I had, but I decided to be generous since I didn't try their sushi, which seems to be their thing... I hope.
COCKROACHES!!!!!! I went there last night for happy hour and ordered sushi rolls, when the tray was set infront of me I looked down and watched a medium size coakroach crawl out from inside the ginger pile!!!! I jumped out of my seat I was so grossed out!!! NEVER AGAIN will I go back!!! Where theres one cockroach, theres bound to be another!!! YUCK!!
I'd probably give it a few more stars if the manager wasn't an idiot and if I've gotten a simple take out. Well there are nights where you just want to grab take out and eat at home in front of the TV. Came here at 9pm. The sign said OPEN. Walked in and it was half full. Chef still making food and people just getting their meals. Server tells me, sorry were closed. I told her I just wanted a few items for take out. She then goes back to grab the manager. Manager says the restaurant is closed, but you can have happy hour in the bar. I asked her if they serve food during happy hour in the bar and she says yes. Then I asked if I can pay full priced dinner to have the food to-go since I don't want to stay and she says no. Happy hour only, you can't take happy hour to-go. And I try to explain I don't want happy hour, I just want normal priced food to-go. But still no. So whatever. Business owner just lost business and gained a review on Yelp.
I'm never fond of restaurants in a mall but this one is a must for sushi lovers! If you can get past the 'Nagel-esque' you'll be fine. Maybe someone should suggest they play Duran Duran to match the decor.
Decor is rather.... 80's but just get your sushi fix out of the way then go somewhere else for drinks or catch a movie afterward next door or hit the gym around the corner.
Every bite melts in your mouth. Price is fair as well.
Fresh fish, recently expanded, not so cheap though - but it's worth it.
Fun fact - they opened almost 20 years ago, and nailed their decor on the first try. The place looks both the same for 20 years and fresh & modern? What is this pixellated manga magicss?!
..oh yeah - tempura ice cream. Not like the tempura on the veggies, but more cake like, surrounding a chilled earth-like-core of ice cream. good.
.....and they've been selling their salad dressings in all the grocery stores in the area for at least 15 years, though they recently changed the branding to something independent. (and their main flavor title: used to be Wasabi dressing, now "Asian Ranch". Pure marketing genius I tell you)
The misses wanted to grab a nice meal before catching a red eye to Louisiana shortly after Apocalyptic Disaster 2006 - but, of course, our first three picks along the 405 corridor were closed. Running short on time and desperate for something better than airplane food after three days without power, we even considered a couple chains that happened to be open, but the gods spared us by intervening with hour long waits and half-stocked kitchens at TGI Fridays. And then, just as airplane food was starting to sound acceptable we passed Rikki Rikki and decided to give it a shot. Completely random.
The sushi was of an expected quality. The unfiltered saki recommendation was superb. But what made Rikki Rikki memorable was the wait staff. Despite the stresses of irritable masses worn ragged by days without power and desperate for a seat in one of the few open restaraunts, the waitress was friendly, helpful and accomodating. We told her we had twenty minutes to eat and she made a point of providing exceptional service. We enjoyed three rolls of sushi, two glasses of saki and the welcome warmth of miso soup and were out the door in record time - and yet, thanks to the service, it felt completely relaxed and comfortable without the worries of being rushed.
Next time I'm in Kirkland I'll definitely stop by and spend a proper amount of time enjoying their food. I am certainly sold on their service.
Rikki Rikki has good sushi for the area but that's not saying much. Their prices are on the high side for sushi restaurants in the area so be prepared to spend some money if you want to actually eat enough food to feel full. A few bright spots... their bento boxes are a decent value and do a good job of filling you up and their fish always tastes fresh. Their private tables in the back are nice so be sure to request one if you have a few people in your group. I would go back but will be searching for something better.
Went here a couple weeks ago with somewhat high expectations but I might have set it too high, having heard all the rave reviews. Plainly put, it was just OK. Everything was fresh and well made but like one reviewer mentioned, there was just no taste in the dishes at all. The sushi was average, nothing to rave about for me. I did like the cali rolls though because they had fresh snow crabs.
The place itself is kind of reminiscent of a diner a la japanese accents. Service was fine. Good for casual, reasonably priced simple sushi dining. Some deals on specific days too.
One word: uninspired.
On the website's sushi menu, they proudly claim that "your sushi dollars go farther at Rikki Rikki! We use a higher-than-average fish to rice ratio!" I can't help but think that they've missed the mark with their goals.
Yeah, the cuts of fish are generous. They don't taste or smell weird. The rolls are well-made and there's a good variety. But everything was just okay, and the fish didn't really have any flavor, which was just bizarre.
But this place did save me when I was driving around all of Redmond looking for a place that served sushi after 9pm and ended up going to Kirkland instead. $2.95 drinks, $3.95 gyoza, $4.95 rolls, and other good stuff. I got enough food for 2 meals for less than $20.
By far one of my favorite sushi restaurants, and I eat A LOT of sushi. Not sure why some people don't like it-- but I guess everyone has different tastes!
This place is close to me, which is a plus, but I would definitely choose it over many restaurants in Seattle as well. I usually go on a Friday or Saturday, and it is busy, but we've never had to wait too long. I always order the same thing, and it is always just filling enough to keep me satisfied, but not STUFFED. They do use more fish than normal, and it is delicious! It's also nice that the rolls look different depending on who makes them, etc. It's not the same fish to rice ratio every single time, but I sort of appreciate that. It's not cookie cutter.
Love their green tea as well. I really have nothing bad to say about this place, but yet, I do order the same thing every time!
Also-- The Rikki roll is AMAZING! (All veggies, and avocado, yum!)
You know, I was underwhelmed. I recently started working in Kirkland, and when a friend came to have lunch with me we went across to Park Place and deciided on Japanese.
My friend had the lunch bento, I had the lunch sushi combination. While the sushi was nice enough, my 3 pieces of cucumber roll, 2 prawn sushi and 4 pieces of tempura prawn roll really didn't cut it for the $10 price. Seriously: I expected more to eat! The quality was all right for being on the Eastside, but nothing that had my tastebuds singing. Service was perfunctory. The dining room was very loud too and distracting -- and there weren't a lot of people there, so it wasn't a volume thing, it was an empty drum thing if you know what I mean.
I expected more, especially for the price. We'll try something else the next time.
This place is decent for fullfilling your sushi craving. The decor is kind of suggests it could be apart of a chain.. but the service is good. The place is busy but not crowded.
I tried their ankimo (because I love it). It's a standard appetizer and you definetely get a big bang for your buck. It's $8 for a heap. I also tried two of their rolls.. spicy yellowtail roll and paradise roll. Both were pretty good.. not totally innovative.. but solid.
I would definetely go here again if I was looking to fill my sushi cravings cheaply. And you get a 20% discount if you have a special card.
Pretty tasty Miles Davis blowing his horn in the background. Friendly waitstaff. Nice Saketini. The fish was delicious. Service was prompt. I like this place..
Rikki Rikki popped my sushi cherry, and they were gentle about it.
The service was spectacular: we were seated right away, the waitress was kind and helpful, and the staff was more than happy to wait patiently for us to finish our debate (on the current age of consent) before we ordered dessert.
As a sushi n00b, I can highly recommend the sake (salmon) and maguro (tuna) nigiri (laid on rice - not a roll). They're easy on the palate. The unagi (eel) roll was also delicious, and the tobiko (flying fish eggs) were hilarious and strange as they popped in my mouth. For dessert, try the ice cream (mango, strawberry and/or chocolate, with rice paper) or the green tea and ginger creme brule. Yum!
This place is somewhat pricey: the bill for three of us was about $80, which included a la carte items, a sushi platter, three drinks and two desserts, but an "Entertainment card" gets you a twenty percent discount.
Whether you've never had a "sushi experience" or are an old pro, Rikki Rikki is friendly, helpful, and non-judgmental. I'll definitely go there again with my sushi-loving friends!
This place has alright sushi; food is good, quality is good, but nothing that made me craving to go back for more.
Parking is always a pain; it's a tiny parking lot that shares with several other stores. You fight traffic to get there, then be prepared to fight for parking.
Atmosphere is good, food is good, but for all the trouble it's worth there are other places I'd prefer to go for better sushi.
I am giving Rikki Rikki 4 stars b/c good sushi on the eastside is hard to find. I went last night and ordered 4 rolls and was stuffed beyond belief...I have no concept of what I can eat! Anyway the rolls were good and the waitress was nice and super fast. The bigger tables or booths are nice and behind a rice paper barrier which I thought was cool. However there was a hobbit sitting next to me that I could have killed b/c apparently this grown man didn't take his ADD meds! Making fart sounds with his mouth, whistling and using his chop sticks as drum sticks against the table. Seriously. If that little man is reading this beware b/c you are on my list!
Other then being delicious you must beware that you will smell like fried food when leaving. Weird for a sushi place but whatever.
Found this place recently.. had a great experience.. Ladies Night was amazing and the food and service were fantastic... I thought the sushi rolls were a good value and absolutely will be back...
Rikki Rikki is my favorite Sushi restaurant on the Eastside. The salmon and yellowtail tuna are their best fish -- very very fresh and large portions. The best appetizer is the honey walnut butterfly shrimp -- my family and I sometimes come here just for that! The flying fish eggs are also good (if you're into that).
I think the menu is somewhat limited compared to some other local sushi places, not much variation among the sushi rolls, and the decor is fine, but the food quality really puts it on top.
And hey, if you have a Prime Card, they'll give you a free bottle of Rikki Rikki sauce/dressing.
