This is the best non-dealer Saab repair spot in the Los Angeles area. Trust me, because the others have all put one over on me! I've suffered so you don't have to-- go to Walter because he's the best. On top of that, he won't try and upsell you on repairs you don't need. He's all about making sure you understand what went wrong, how it's being fixed, and how much it's going to cost. Plus, they give you a great reliable older Saab to take with you if it's going to take more than a few hours-- and they're REALLY cool about making it easy. I love this place.

SOO unfortunately I got ripped off somewhere else - EuroTech Motors.(You can read my review about them). SO I brought my car to Right Solutions right after to get a second opinion.
Thanks to HUGO - he did a thorough inspection on my vehicle and showed me with a flashlight and pointer that the repairs that Artie from Eurotech scared me about were not as urgent and dangerous as they described it to be.
I love this place.

Call me a reluctant fan. I came here after my rear window glass refused to participate and didn't roll up, just sitting there, exposing the fine leather in my car to the elements. If I were in East San Jo, I would have ghetto'ed it up, using a black plastic bag with some duct tape to cover the gaping wound and would have felt just at home. But seeing as how I was driving around Beverly Hills and the like, I guess I had a reputation to maintain. So I fired up the trusty 'ol iPhone and searched for places nearby that repaired European cars. Turns out this place was a mere 2 miles from home, so I stopped in there and decided to give it a go.
The guy who came up to greet me was nice enough, and gave me what sounded like a fair estimate. He gave me the worst case scenario and best case scenario, how much it would cost, and how long it would take. Fantastic--300 smackeroos to fix the stupid rear window regulator (damn German cars and their finicky parts). He said that he would try to finish by the end of the day, and told me he would call when it was done. Feeling satisfied, I was suddenly met with the realization that I had no way of getting home. Although the guy offered to give me a ride, I decided to walk home.
The entire fix took about 2 hours, much quicker than I had expected. This time, I did it right and took the bus (yes, the damn bus. Shameful, I know.) back. Everything seemed to be working, and the rear window was now fully functional. Somewhat expensive at around 350 bucks (that's like a full moonlighting shift!), yes, but I guess you have to pay to play.
Los Angeles has a few good Saab mechanics. Walter is unique though.
I've never been to a mechanic that approached repairs in this fashion. He insists on spending extensive time going over your car with you, foot by foot. When you are finished, you get a full state of the union on your car. He'll give you a list of items he suggests you replace and what timeline he suggests you replace them in. He encourages you to shop online for parts and bring the parts to him or even buy secondhand. You're an active part of the process here.
Walter does not attempt to up-sell you, and clearly has a passion for Saabs. He has to be the most reasonable Saab mechanic cost-wise I've ever taken my car to--that's for sure.
Walter does not replace what does not need replacing like many other shops do. For that reason when its time for a mileage service, 60k, 100k, etc., I really like bringing my car here. He's not following a list of items and blindly replacing them all. He looks at each part's condition with you and you make a decision what stays and what goes.
In any case, this is a highly regarded place to take your Saab, especially if you're a little bit of a gearhead and enjoy learning a bit more about your car.
Am surprised a bit by the handful of negative reviews here--but the shop does have an unusual feel and style. I can understand the one reviewers complaint about not feeling like the center of attention. The shop is swamped all the time and Walter does have to hop around a lot. That is one drawback I suppose.

Walter is great! He takes great care of my Saab. He went over the entire car the very first time I met him. It was like being in auto mech class in high school! Saabs are expensive to fix but he is fair and realistic about whether or not I need to fix something. He's the only mechanic I have known who takes walk ins so easily and they usually will fix your car right away.
In response to Walter's response:
I don't ever prefer to deal with you again, therefore do not want to be contacted in any way, but again, I was told by you that the odo did read the 200,000 mi, but that the engine had been replaced, and had less than 100,000 mi on it.
When I took it to another shop for the other repairs, I asked if the engine had been replaced. They said it had not. This would mean the odo reading was correct at over 200,000 mi.
Also, if you all want to see the validity in my post, simply search through the old craigslist postings for a saab for sale at right solutions, that clearly lists: Working AC, Replaced engine, "Never been in a wreck, I should know, I'm a mechanic".
You'll see it black and white right there on your screen, and I was the poor sucker who bought the car, which I later found all of the above to me untrue.
I now see there are others going to the BBB based on walter, and these reviews that say he tells you "not to repair it" saving you money, well, just sit in the shop for an hour, as I did. Walter overbooks his shop, and then turns people away saying they don't need to do the repairs as they fill, just go sit on the couch for an hour and see for yourself.

Walter wasn't in this morning. I needed some work done on the ol' 9-5. Hugo, one of Walter's more reliable guys approached me in the same manner Walter would've. He identified the problem, EXPLAINED the problem and how needs to be repaired. In at 8:00am out by 8:45am! Topped off my fluids and checked over the other stuff that needed to checked. I love this place! and I will never go anywhere else!

My boyfriend and I met Walter Wong at Right Solutions soon after moving to Los Angeles earlier this year. We were looking to buy an inexpensive car, just to get us around town until we got more settled, and found Walter through a Craigslist ad offering an older VW Rabbit for sale.
We met him at the shop on a Sunday, despite the fact that the shop was closed, his whole family (and dog) in town, and he took the time to let us drive a few old loaner cars he was trying to get rid of. We trusted him immediately, and though we didn't buy from him that day, we kept coming back around to him everytime we looked at yet another sucky car being sold by a questionable person.
That first day Walter told us that if we found something that we liked and wanted to buy, that we could bring it to him and he would inspect it for free. We were dubious of this generosity, being fresh from NYC, but we have since found that Walter is this generous and then some.
So, after much fruitless searching, we ended up back at Right Solution, where we purchased Ernie, our beloved 1990 Saab--yes there's no A/C and the power windows are a little cranky--but for a mere $1,000 we purchased a car that we LOVE and is still working incredibly well for us today, 6 months later. (We only expected it to last 3).
Since then, we have gone to visit Walter many many times. If we have questions about Ernie, we go see Walter. If we have questions about buying a new car (we've recently become a 2-car family), we go to Walter. We have brought him cars that we are looking at and considering purchasing and no matter how busy the day, he has taken the time to drive the car with us, to put it up on the lift and to walk us through every piece and part we have questions about.
We find Walter, and all of his mechanics to be kind, honest, and unbelievably helpful. Walter has talked us out of spending unnecessary money on numerous occasions and we will take every car we ever own to him, without a doubt.
We drive all the way from Silverlake to see Walter. He is THAT good.
Let me break it down for you:
I love this place. I have an old crappy volvo, but I love it. Walter greeted me personally raised uo my car and walked me through what's going on with it. he had me take notes and gave me a crash course on why and how my car is terminal. I thought uh-oh he's gonna tell em the dolphin that swims in the radiator needs a flusibatsis injection. Not at all. He told me it's inmportat that a person know what the realities of their car is and prioritize work based on if they want it as a "for life car" or for the moment.
Not only that, he was honest that my baby wasn't gonna make it past the one year, mark but just wasn't worth spending ton of money either. He showed me that the "gas smell" i complained about was the main fuel line actually spurting out gas! He called his suppliers to get me a comparable part cheaper than an exclusive volvo part. Although it was a long process (Walter does a walk thru and test drive with all new customers) I was out of there in a matter of hours instead of leaving my car days. The work with part about $160 and that's with tip!
While I was there I also met guys from his Saab Club and got to see a car they had rebuilt & finished for a young member that had passed on tragically . It had been his project car. They bought it from his mom to help her pay funeral expenses, and they finished it up, and were ready to gift it back to her in his memory!
This man is an experience!

This place is more than you could hope for.
I brought in my car because I thought I needed new brakes. Hugo put my Audi up on the rack and then personally walked me through the underside of my car and explained that I absolutely did not need new brakes at all. He showed me that one of my shocks was mushy, but said I should go to the dealer because my car is under warranty. He then brought the car down, and without my asking he gave my engine the once-over.
In the meantime, Walter, the owner, introduced himself and Hugo notified us that my oil is low. Walter suggested that I take the car to the dealer (I have free oil changes while under warranty) but I insisted I'd rather buy some oil to top it off from them. Then Walter took my car out for a drive with me to make sure that it runs correctly and there's no funny noises. He then pulled over and explained to me why my car requires a better grade of gas.
When we returned, Hugo reattached my front license plate (it was sitting on the floor of the passenger side of my car.)
All in all, they spent nearly an hour with me checking out my car and taking the time to give me a thorough explanation of its finer points. Amazing. I only spent $20, and that was because I insisted on buying some oil from them.
It's obvious Walter takes great pride in giving great service, and the rest of the gentlemen that work there seem to share this sentiment. I'm flat out amazed by these guys. This is some of the best customer service I've ever received anyplace, anywhere. And the fact that it's from a car mechanic, where I'm usually out of my element and uncertain if I'm getting the straight story...
I heart Right Solution. And I wholeheartedly recommend them.
P.S. I talked to another customer who said that they rebuilt a starter for him, and charged him one-fifth the cost of the dealer. Over-the-top service for an affordable price!

Walter rocks!
I almost want to keep his place a secret since I have been to so many crooked mechanics in this city. I believe it is imperative to find an honest mechanic because in all reality you are putting your life in their hands.
Walter is extremely thorough and meticulous about cars and a real people person with a warm understanding of people's aversion to getting stuck with an overpriced car fix. His friendly efficient staff gets the work done in record time.
Today I saw a post office truck in his shop- think about it, if they trust Walter's expertise so should you. 5 stars all the way baby!!
(^_^)
Walter definitely specializes in Saabs, but he also took good care of me and my Honda (I swear when I first moved to SoCal I had no idea Asians = Honda drivers, I grew up in the midwest for chrissake). He insisted on doing an extremely thorough walkthrough of my car (inside, outside, and underneath) and took special care to make sure I was following him and knew what was going on. Afterwards, I asked what it would cost for the hour-long explanation, and Walter said: "Nothing. It's free." Whoa. My favorite moment of the tour:
Walter: Blah blah blah car stuff blah blah blah.
Me: Uh huh.
Walter: Blah blah blah car stuff blah blah blah.
Me: Uh huh.
Walter: Blah blah blah car stuff blah blah blah. Do you understand?
Me: (argh, caught in the act!) Um, not really, but it's okay.
Walter: No, no, it's important that you understand. This is your car, you are driving it, you should know what it needs and what it doesn't need.
Me: *sheepish* Okay, yes, you're right...
Walter: Blah blah blah car stuff blah blah blah.
Me: Uh... huh.
He gave me a slip of paper to write down things that I needed pretty urgently, things that I could fix but didn't have to, and things that were just important to know. I ended up choosing Walter (thanks Yelp!) to do the necessary repairs (brake pads, etc.) to my car and the final charge was literally thousands less than what other places had quoted me. Plus I got a cool loaner Saab to scoot around town in while my Honda was being repaired.
Two thumbs up for Walter and A Right Solution, thanks for trying your best to prevent me from being completely ignorant about my car!

I've been taking my car to Walter's shop since 2003 and I can't believe that this is the first time I'm reviewing his shop. I think subconsciously I haven't wanted to rave because he will become too popular and change his business model. But after five years and numerous miles and accidents upon LA's sub-par streets, Walter consistently provided excellent service and it's only right to pay him back (since he had never overcharged me and in fact should've charged me on many occasions for his consultations) through another fabulous review.
I bought my first car, a '97 saab, and drove from NY to Los Angeles. As a young, naive twenty-something girl, I thought a car would stay in good shape if you just kept changing the oil.
After a year in LA, my car would stall, sometimes not start, and had to run for at least twenty minutes before you turned the car off, otherwise it would not start again. I knew it was going to be bad bill to repair it. I started researching car repairs online and came across the site saabtech. In the message boards, a mechanic named Walter Wong kept offering free advice to queries online. He was based in LA, so I thought I'd bring my car into the shop.
As i feared, the prognosis was not good. But Walter spent 40 minutes walking through the list (which was loooong) and showing me what was wrong. He then did the most shocking thing of all. He explained what needed to be fixed immediately, and then broke down a time line of when everything else needed to be repaired to bring my car back to excellent working condition. No BS that everything needed to be fixed immediately.
So I left my car with walter and rode off in my free loaner from his shop. When I returned to pick up my car, Walter handed me back the list of problems and told me to bring it back when I was ready to address the next list of issues. Over the next year, I consistently brought my car back and addressed every repair. The result - for the next three years I had no issues with my almost decade old car. And the cost for the mountains of repair work (i kid you not - the list was two pages long) $2,600.
Over the years, I'd bring my Saab back for routine oli changes, where walter would always top off fluids and personally inspect my vehicle before it left the lot. My then boyfriend (who brings his car to JiffyLube) scoffed at the cost of $40 for an oil change, but it was well worth it for 1) the premium oil and 2) to know that Walter would check out my car a couple of times a year.
Last month, my perfectly running car was totaled when i was hit by an uninsured motorist. I had my car towed to Walter's shop, where before the insurance adjuster came Walter told me it would be totaled as the frame was bent.
It was a week before my wedding, which was taking place back east. Realizing that the insurance battle was going to be a long one due to the other person's lack of coverage, I was going to have to pay out of pocket expenses for storage of my car. I called Walter and he said he would not charge me for storage before the adjuster came (Once again - he is amazing). When the adjuster came and confirmed it was totaled, i didn't have time to deal with disposing of the car myself. I was getting on a plane and leaving LA for three weeks, I needed the car out of my life. I called Walter looking for a recommendation and he said, 'I'll take it." And he actually gave me decent money for it. I was so happy to just sign the car over and leave to go get married.
When I returned to LA, my husband and I shared a car while I was looking for a new one. Within the first week of me driving his Honda, a check engine light came on. I immediately drove to Walter's shop that Saturday morning. After a small wait (if you go on a Saturday, you're going to have to wait) Walter checked out my car and said nothing was wrong, He explained the issue with emission sensors and how they cause the function light to go sporadic with warnings. He then handed over the keys and told me I could drive cross country with the car and have no problems. And he sent me on my way with no charge for checking out the vehicle.
Which leads me to my review tonight. It's been long overdue. Walter and his staff are amazing. However, this shop is NOT for everyone. If you can't handle waiting up to an hour and half on a Saturday for Walter to personally check out your car, then pick a week day. If you are going to be upset when Walter takes phone calls during his consultation, then you must be aware that he does this. But I've been on both sides - the girl frantically calling Walter with my car that is stranded in some random part of town and the girl who is receiving a detailed breakdown of what is wrong with my vehicle, with Walter shining the light and showing me the parts. I'm grateful that he does it all, and if you are a savvy consumer, you will appreciate his dedication to ALL car owners as well.

I give my heart away so easily, only to have it pummeled and flattened like a veal scaloppine. "Here you go...for your destroying pleasure!" I say, perkily. "Why thank you very much, I think I'll rip it in two!" sez bad boy/snarky girlfriend/evil boss.
That said, I'm also tough as nails, so the heart regenerates, I get over things, I smile, I don't obsess (much).
But all this rending and tearing has left me....cautious. I stretch out that heart in a closed fist, open it a little at a time, and then snatch it back. "ow ow ow! I know you're gonna hurt me!"
That's pretty much what happened during my first visit to Master Walter Wong's "A Right Solution," a no-frills spa for SAABs and other Swedish automobiles. My little Cricket had died on me suddenly, leaving me in a panic. "How much will it cost?" "Will I have to let go of her?" and worst of all "I'll have to trust someone!"
Well, darling yelpers, I trusted you...all of you excellent reviewers of "A Right Solution." I called, made an appointment, and was seen first thing the next day. Walter Wong took a look at the engine, took a guess at what was wrong, and then lifted the car on one of those lifty things, and then had me walk underneath the carriage, pointing out flaws and imperfections. He made me write them all down on some paper he'd provided.
"Okay, dear: here's what you need to fix, here's what someone might tell you that you need to fix, when you actually don't" He showed me some things that MIGHT be problems down the road, and some that were slightly bigger problems. He told me NOT to sell Cricket, but to give her the $500 all-told fix (which included an oil change). His team of swift mechanics ("my kids" as he proudly called them) had her fixed up and ready to go in about an hour. I spent that time in the pleasant-enough little back room (free bottled water) talking to another customer and petting Turbo, the completely un-scary German shepard guard dog.
And since I didn't want to believe that this man wasn't going to let me down, I didn't yelp him at first. "Wait and see...I'm going to be disappointed." And so, when the "Check engine" light came on suddenly, I just sighed and said "what else could I expect..." But I called Walter, and he told me to bring it in, and diagnosed the problem as a broken fuel cap. Solution: $20 dollars for a new one, the light went off, and I drove away thinking: some of them really are gentlemen.
Which doesn't mean you can trust every British director with a Morrissey haircut and flattering patter, she said, cryptically....but you sure as hell can grab all the gusto out of that situation, and move it on down the road. Last I checked, my heart's still beating, and my car's still running. Onwards, girlie!

Car overheated going North on the 405 (morning commute) near the getty. My car hadn't broken down since I moved to LA so I didn't know where and the AAA lady suggested I go here (A-1 SHELL):
http://www.yelp.com/bi...
Said my car had a blown head gasket then pressed hard to get me to go to a dealer to get it fixed. I suspect they didn't even check the car, let alone do a thorough inspection.
Then, when I was getting it towed to another place I found on Yelp (I'll get to them later), he said he was going to give me 20$ off the "inspection" because he said he felt sorry for me or whatever. After the 'discount' was $60. Then I remembered the AAA lady said I get a discount for being a AAA member, and asked for that discount too. He said that was the discount he just gave me. Yeah, I guess he wasn't all that nice after all.
When I was getting it towed, some of the mechanics were making fun of me for blowing my engine. Thanks. Insult to Injury (to the checkbook).
So I went home and looked for a second opinion and went on Yelp and found A Right Solution. I had it towed there.
Literally within 5 minutes, WHILE I WAS THERE, Walter showed me the problem. It was just fan malfunction which got my car to overheat which blew some hoses. That's it. Went from a minimum $3000 to a little over $300.
Overall:
Walter is amazing mechanic / person and you can call him up anytime and he'll tell you what he thinks. Real nice, straight up king of guy. Once you go there, you'll be hooked as evident from his shop ALWAYS being full.
They have loaners and it's no rush, as he'll work around your schedule.
I don't know what that other guy is talking about. An oil change is $43 and they put in the good stuff, that Saab's pretty much need.
A Right Solution doesn't only do Saab's so feel free to take in whatever you have!

"That's it?" was my first thought on my car repair.
"Yep!" he said with a smile and double-FOB voice -that is half mexican, half chinese...i think - (Walter Wong?). "Well I guess what I should say is we need to fix this and fix that so I could feed my family."
Honest, good repairhouse, and great communicator it is no wonder his shop is full. Fixed the coolant system and fan clutch for $375...giving me the exact OEM product without the name brand. He is currently restoring a 1958 Victoria and 1972 Corvair.

I came here because I thought my other SAAB mechanic was ripping me off, me being a girl and all and knowing very little about anything that pertains to my car other than where to put the gas and how to fill a tire (Yes, I am ashamed). Well it turns out my other mechanic wasn't ripping me off but I'm still glad I came to the Right Solution. I know they do more than SAABs but all I saw were SAABs in the lot. Walter was really awesome and took the time to show me what my car needed, showed me what good brakes look like, and good tire wear, etc. On top of that, he showed me how to top off my fluids! A very educative experience!
FYI: You can buy parts somewhere else and Walter will only charge for labor. Ask him about it!
They seem to be good!
My gas light went on so I went over to them after reading some good reviews and they were one of the only ones open Saturday.
They saw my car right away and stupidly, the reason it was on was cause I left my gas cap loose.
Then, I also had them look at a dent someone kicked in to my car a long time ago. The guy pushed it out with his hand...totally crazy.
Then they filled my tires with air. I was there for about 45 minutes because I had requested an oil change but came too late and they couldn't do it since they were out of oil, but one of the guys spent like 15 minutes looking for some which was nice.
The one thing I didn't like is that they have a huge dog there. That's not the problem. The problem was that the dog didn't have any food and water in his bowls and it was really hot out. They have a nice little fridge of cold bottled water for their customers so I took one and put it into the dogs bowl while no one was looking. I mean really, dogs need water people!
Other than that, it was great. They charged me nothing in the end and I got free ice cream out of it in the end. I recommend them.
Oh, and oil changes are 49 bucks. Not sure if this is an LA thing, but where I'm from they are NOT that much.
Good guys, wont f*** you over as far as I'm concerned - they did my shit for free!

Walter is the poo. He always, ALWAYS, gives me an honest opinion, a thorough explanation, and an awesome price. Thank GOD for Walter, as a single girl in LA, it's HARD to find a mechanic that doesn't look at you and see dollar signs.
Owning a Saab is stressful enough without every mechanic in town trying to screw you. Thanks WW, you rock.

I almost want to keep his place a secret since I have been to so many crooked mechanics in this city. I believe it is imperative to find an honest mechanic because in all reality you are putting your life in their hands.
Walter sold me my car.
It used to be one of his loaners, and he said he's upgrading his loaner fleet. The car is in amazing condition (88 4-door SAAB 900 for $1500!!), and he offered me a guarantee on parts and labor--free!
That was way back in August, and it's been going strong ever since. I just opted to replace my tranny so that I could make longer trips outside of the city.
It was totally by choice, and Walter did everything he could to present less costly alternatives. Finally, he also helped me negotiate the best price on parts. He provides a free loaner while he works, and his estimates are always fair.
He's the BEST, most HONEST mechanic you'll ever meet.
EVERYONE loves Walter:
I was sitting at light on La Cienega and Santa Monica, and a pedestrian came up to my window and gave me business card for Right Solution. The guy was so happy and enthusiastic, and he sang Walter's praises. I told him that I already knew and loved Walter, and he just gave me a warm and confident smile.
"Spread the word!"
And like that---he was gone!

Walter is awesome!!!!!! If you have an older model Saab (1990s or earlier), you should be taking your car to him for sure. He knows Saabs in a way that most mechanics around these parts don't seem to. He is logical, thorough, and really a nice, cool dude. If you're having a problem, he will personally figure out what is going on and take the time to explain it to you. And if you have a non-Saab car, they have a shop across the street for other makes. I've taken non-saabs up there and had work done for about a tenth of what it would have cost me at the dealership!
Never had great service like this from a mechanic before. Never. First thing Walter did was to ask us if we had any questions or concerns with the car. Then, he took us under the car and explained, part by part, how the car is doing and approximately how far in the future some additional service would be needed. Service was quick, friendly, and down to earth. Why take you car anywhere else? Oh, and thanks to Yelp for making it possible to find places like this, which, unlike a good restaurant, can be very difficult to find!
I have owned two saabs in my relatively short driving career, and the one thing that I always hated was going to the dealership, or any mechanic to get it repaired.
Walter Wong is a genius when it comes to fixing Saabs.
I almost enjoy going to his shop.
He's the only mechanic of three who correctly diagnosed a problem my car was having and fixed it for the cost of an Engine Flush, instead of a new Turbo or a Ring Job.
This is the only mechanic I've been to that works his way from the cheapest thing to possibly cause your problem to the most expensive problem. He's also the only mechanic to tell me to not get something fixed if there is a way to avoid the problem.( I.E. if the problem only happens below half a tank of fuel, keep your tank full.)
Things to note:
1. If you have to leave your car there, they'll give you a loner (most likely an older saab)
2. You can walk around the shop looking at other jobs they are working on, and get up under your car to look at it.
3. Oil changes are not cheap.
4. Finding it can be tricky, you have to drive around back of the store front.
5. The huge German Shephard Turbo, is big and friendly. (or has been to me)
In short, if you own a saab, and you have a problem, go see Walter and his crew.

Taking my car to Walter's shop has made me realize this: I will NEVER purchase a car if it isn't a Saab, because as long as this shop is around, I know I can trust their work!
I bought a certified pre-owned 'vert in 2004. The seatbelt went bad just after the warranty expired, but I took the car to the dealer service shop anyway because it seemed to me that a seatbelt replacement is something that should be covered even if the car isn't under warranty (yeesh- it's a safety issue!). Unfortunately, I learned that dealer service shops aren't as friendly when your car is no longer under warranty! They wanted more than $700 just for the PART (not including labor) to replace the seat belt!
So I went home, surfed the net, and came across http://saabnet.com, where I found a community with a treasure trove of information - and more importantly, it's where I found WALTER! I called Right Solution, they ordered the part, and I brought my car in and had the part and installation completed for less than 1/3 of the price that the dealer wanted to charge for the part by itself.
I've been back to Walter's shop regularly to have other work completed. Hands down, this guy KNOWS his cars and works to save customers' money too. That, ladies and gentlemen, is why I will always own a Saab because I know I can bring it to Walter and get knowledgeable advice, comprehensive service, and honest prices!

My 1991 Saab had its share of problems until I visited Walter. He's very thorough in explaining and showing you the problem, then giving you options on how it can be fixed (or if it even needs to be fixed). He really emphasizes saving the customer money and avoiding unnecessary repairs.
The free loaner cars are huge help and cost savings.
I would highly recommend Walter and Right Solution. He's simply the best mechanic I've found.

I concur with everyone! Walter is def. the guy to go to with your Saab. They are a Saab only shop, so you and your Volvo are out of luck. He's very through in explaining your problem and offering solutions to fit your budget and lifestyle. Someone said the oil changes weren't cheap. I think it ran me around $45 when I got mine done by Right Solutions, which was much cheaper than the other indie mechanic I went to or EZ Lube (which I am convinced never actually changed my oil, just topped it off).

If you own an older Saab, you must go to Walter Wong/Right Solution.
Here's why:
#Walter is brilliant, honest, and very experienced with SAABs.
#He will explain your car's problems, prioritize the repairs, and present cost-effective solutions.
#You can call him at anytime on his cell phone.
#When your car needs to stay at the shop overnight, or even for a few hours, he will give you a free loaner car.
#The shop is run efficiently.
Overall, I have had a very positive experience with Right Solution. In fact, I often leave feeling I should pay more...
Its true! I love Yelp for leading me to this place. I always have problems with auto mechanics, and Walter and his team are wonderful. He had my car (GMC Sonoma) done in two hours, and after extensive diagnostics, explanations, etc. he only charged me for the three bottles of transition fluid he used on my car. Really great experience!
owning a saab is an experience. owing an old saab is an even better experience, 'cuz they're so wonderfully quirky and well built. and if you're a car guy you'll likely become a saab convert. and part of the saab experience, for me at least, are the underground communities of saab fanatics and independent saab mechanics. this place is the perhaps the pinnacle of independent saab mechanics. i love coming here 'cuz there usually so many saabs there just to look at, sometime really old and fun ones. and walter here really knows his saabs. and he's a great guy, too. basically, if you own an out-of-warranty saab in socal, this is THE place to go for quality work and fair price
