Rico Pan smells beautiful in the morning.
I'm slowly moving my way through the case, trying everything. The pastelitos (little stuffed cookie things) and the Quesadillas (a sort of sour cream cake with sesame seeds) are big hits.
Unfortunately, their coffee is very bitter. I think that one coffeepot sits there all day...
I recently discovered Rico Pan Bakery & love it!
This bakery sells authentic Salvadorean baked goods that are delicious!
When we walk into the bakery, you are always greeted by the worker with a huge smile on his face! He is extremely friendly, helpful & patient! I always ask a lot of questions about the baked goods and he takes the time to answer them all so I'm always a satisfied customer!
The pastries are baked every morning so when you get there early morning, it smells like heaven!
They also sell coffee, tamales & Salvadorean cheeses; all at reasonable prices.
If you are out of cash, they accept credit card with a minimal amount of $10! There is also metered street parking available.
THe best El Salvadorean Panaderia ever!!! I've become addicted to their Pastellitos de Guava aka Guava cookies and their items are so affordable and delicious that I've become a normal customer! The workers are also friendly and helpful.
Rico Pan Bakery was my introduction to Salvadoran pan dulce, and I am hooked! A good place to start is the dense, sweet cake topped with sesame seeds (a Salvadoran specialty known as quesadilla, interestingly enough). The small, hockey-puck-sized version should be enough to sustain you for a while. Also good are the pastelitos, little round pastries filled with custard or jam. (My vote: custard.)
If you don't know what to get, ask the proprietor. Or just point at something that looks good. Everything costs about 50 cents, so you can hardly go wrong.
Best classic muffins in town!
The smells! I was drawn in by the smells. I was biking home while in a blindly ravenous state. I was brought back to reality first by the smell of fresh baked goods, then by the sight of shelves filled with treats. I went in and scrounged up some change enough to buy one fritter which was delicious.
Cookies, breads, treats, bars, I think also cakes. They had A LOT.
The recently opened Rico Pan Bakery offers an array of baked goods from pastries, cookies, to breads. Though walking by this spot always smells fresh- you gotta have right timing to buy the goods fresh as well, like early morning or midday. Pineapple and custard filled pastries stand out the most. Custard filled churros are not too crispy. Best suggestion; get a loaf of their tres leches bread to take home, slice it up, and toast it.
