Review from Vanessa S.

We always stay here when we come into town and have yet to be disappointed.
Staff is courteous and go out of their way to make your stay pleasant. Rooms are clean, spacious and well-appointed, although don't expect flat screens here. The Marriott bed....well......zzzzzz. One of the best parts of the whole stay is that fluffy, snuggly bed.
The pool? Great amenity to have, particularly when coming to visit from the snowy northeast. The gym is small but more than adequate; machines have individual tv's and there are always an abundance of towels. Breakfast was good and service attentive.
Overall - a great stay! -

The hotel is quite beautiful and the staff is friendly and helpful. The pool and small gym area is pretty good. The rooms are nice, clean and spacious.
Why then did I give them only 3 stars? There is no in-room microwave or personal refridgerator and wifi costs an extra 9 - 12 dollars a day.
No wonder I could get a room at such short notice. Next time I'll book earlier and go back to free breakfast and free wifi at Hilton or Hotel Sierra. -

I have held off reviewing this place because I don't have a very strong opinion about it, but maybe my "eh" will be helpful to the Richmond-area visitor.
It was fine. It was a typical Marriott. The room was clean, the staff was competent and courteous, and the room rate for the wedding we attended was reasonable. The wedding was held in one of the Marriott ballrooms, and while the bathrooms were a bit of a hike in heels, overall the hotel seemed like a lovely reception venue.
On the flip side, this was one of the worst hotel buffet breakfasts I've ever had. The two elevators weren't really enough to handle the crowd at the hotel, especially right before and after the wedding when large groups were heading to the same place at the same time. And it was definitely noisy in the room when I was trying to sleep (thanks, hallway revelers!).
So in conclusion, this Marriott was totally, absolutely fine. Do with that what you will. -

Staying in Courtyards all the time, it's hard to tell if I like or dislike the offerings of a full service Marriott. On paper, king size bed, TV, desk, bathroom, I would say they're the same as Courtyards. But no free internet? No free breakfast? What's up with these "full service" hotels?
Although, being platinum status hooks me up with access to their members lounge with free appetizers and sodas, if you weren't a platinum member, you would be totally jipped.
Their beds are pretty damn comfortable though. If that's the only thing that matters to you, then sure, go for this place.
They do give you free q-tips though. Courtyards don't give that to you. -

Richmond Marriott West meets my expectations for a Marriott brand hotel. The decor is modern and feels very clean and classy. The hotel is full service with a friendly staff, fitness center, pool, restaurant, and free parking lot.
The rooms are nice and the beds are incredibly comfortable. Internet is not free ($9.95) but that is expected of a nicer, more expensive hotel (why?!?) and no points will be docked. If your a platinum member you get the benefit of a nice concierge's lounge which is good as a free bonus but not worth a premium. The water pressure here is also through the roof.
That said the TV's in the rooms are nubbins and in dire need of an upgrade. My TV goes ape shit whenever the color white is displayed (which is a lot). My iron is also crusty and their is no fart fan in the bathroom. Also, breakfast was a big disappointed. No bacon? :( -

off to richmond, where you can apparently still smoke in bars. gross.
this place is a fine marriott, with solid business traveller beds, mediocre tv's, and a small bathroom. but then again you wouldn't be staying here for a vacation. you'd be here to sleep and work. so it works fine.
the gym is a joke, the pool was closed, but i slept fine. oh the in room coffee is horrible too. staff=super nice. -

This will help people not too sure about staying here. Lets put it this way: COME AND STAY HERE. There is NOTHING wrong with this hotel. In fact it is wonderful. It has complimentary Wi-Fi, nice rooms, clean, spotless, flawless, bathrooms nice, many restaurants and Short Pump nearby. Also, it is in the heart of Innsbrook, one of the largest office parks in Virginia. The Marriott Richmond West is golden standard, and I believe it has a Starbucks, though I could be wrong, because I didn't see one. Don't let others fool, you, for this matches the gold standard Marriott hotels usually sets.
