Richard's Bistro may be the thing I miss most aboutgood old Manch Vegas. I'm not sure if the menu is the same, but if it is, definitely try the Monte Christo on the lunch menu, and the mini beef Wellington as an appetizer on the dinner menu. You can't go wrong with anything there, though. I once misheard my waiter when he told me a lunch special and mistakenly ordered  a tuna salad sandwich. I hate tuna salad, but I didn't mind it at Richard's.

The only downside is that dinner is a little pricey. It's well worth it, though.

I'm a fan, big-time!
Everything is simple, easy, and convenient, even the service.
A nice menu with Brunch item for $10 or $15.
($10)You can get stuffed french toast -raspberry and cream cheese
or an amazing omelet ($15) that melts in your mouth and with just the right punch of garlic aroma that makes all the ingredients in the omelet even more savory.
That's not all!
You are first served a fruit and cheese platter...yum my fav!
Then a pastry basket with fresh danish, cinnamon roll, coffee cake, and something else.
The fresh O.J. really tastes like fresh OJ is supposed to taste like. none of this from concentrate 100% juice crap.
The coffee! Oh my-the Coffee!!! Mmmmmm....coffee aroma lovers and coffee lovers come one, come all!

The bread box that they serve at the beginning is the best!!! The food has always been delicious and we love the atmosphere. We love this place!

Manchester's original "Really Good Restaurant".  I remember a time when they were the only game downtown, now they still remain one of the best.  Has always been a shining light in the Manchester Dining scene.  Consistency has been their calling card for years and newish chef, Matt Provencher, is bringing a fresh outlook to the menu (braised pig shank is a winner.)  Tough to do worse in Manchester.

(new to Yelp, but have been active on Chowhound,  all reviews are based on dining experiences from the past 3 months from date of this review)

My boss took me to Richard's for dinner during Eats Week so we could order of the special menu at a discounted price of $33 each for a three course dinner. That's definitely a bargain price at Richard's Bistro. We made a reservation for 8PM, we were seated in the small dining room with few tables. Our drink orders were taken and we ordered off the special Eats Week Menu $33 each for appetizer, entre and dessert. Several kinds of fresh baked bread was brought out, which were excellent.

APPETIZERS: Ox Tail ravioli with walnuts and wild mushrooms was very hearty and the handmade raviolis were doughy on the outside. The Cauliflower Soup with Lobster Salad was very good too!

DINNERS: The Spinach & Sun Dried Tomato Stuffed Veal Breast (on a mascarpone polenta with crispy olives) and the Grilled Salmon (on a saut of beets, baby beet greens, fingerling potatoes and a horse radish sour cream sauce) were both fantastic.

DESSERTS: We each had a Goat Cheese Cake with a bing cherry black pepper compote, which had a sweet and tangy taste and went well with after dinner coffee.

Overall, the food was very tasty and the presentation was very nice. The service was very good and attentive with several refills given on the house water and reorders of bar drinks. Richard even came over to see how things were going with the meal. Fantastic!

I'm mystified at the good reviews.  I've been here twice...both awful.

Weird house salad, OK bread (stale one of the times we were there), overpriced, service fine...but nobody at the table had a good meal.  The second time, I was taken for a business dinner.  I wouldn't have gone back on my own.

Gloppy sauces, bland fish, dried out chicken.  Not even a good dessert.

Whenever I take someone out for a special occasion, I usually will take him/her to Richard's Bistro. This place is amazing! The food is fantastic, from the breads to the salads to the meal. The braised chicken was perfectly cooked, and the bacon rolled lobster tails were delicious.

Haute cuisine doesn't get any better than Richard's. Yes, I know, there are far more arrogant food snobs out there (there being places like New York, Boston, Chicago, etc.) who will automatically thumb their noses at the possibility that a restaurant in unpretentious Manchester, NH could actually be haute cuisine, but screw them. Richard's has an impressive bread basket, excellent drinks, desserts to die for, and the best meals I've my humble palate has ever tasted.

I've eaten at Richard's Bistro several times since they first opened, I've always had a great meal here! During my most recent visit I ordered the Steakhouse Salad which was nicely prepared with greens, Gorgonzola and a nicely marinated steak. It was delicious and just the right size for lunch. The bread basket is always impressive with an assortment of breads and muffins which vary between visits. I sampled the cheese bread and the blueberry bread which was amazing. Others at my table where negotiating for the last blueberry bread slice!

Typically we eat dinner here which is always excellent. I tend towards a fillet while my husband tends towards anything seafood when we eat out. The meal is always perfectly prepared and the service is some of the best in the area. The salad is surprising with a mix of greens and fruit which is a nice change from the ordinary.

I don't know if the menu or quality is going to change with the new chef but I hope not! Make a reservation and give this place a try, it's worth it!!

We had a great experience at this place for Sunday brunch. Our first impression was good when the waiter brought out a board with a whole pear, a whole apple, a thick slice of cheddar cheese and a knife. Then the most astounding bakery basket of homemade banana-cranberry bread, apple turnover, cinnamon roll and more came out. The egg dishes were lovely, though my son found his steak tips overdone. This was a true find in Manchester

Right when you walk in you see the open kitchen with all of the chefs prep'n and cooking the meals. There are 2 dining areas, the one that you see when you 1st walk in, and then one around the corner, that you can not view from the front door.
We had reservations for 7:45 and we sat down at 7:45. I highly recommend reservations as the place can not sit more that 100 I don't think.
The wait-staff was more than friendly. I ordered the Porterhouse, medium rare with what they had called Porterhouse potato's. The steak was cooked to perfection and the potato's are the best tasting(worst for your health) that you will ever eat. I asked teh waitress for the recipe which she was more than willing to give to me, but the chef was not available when we left :(. They had index cards already filled out with other recipe's on them ready to go for anyone that asked. - to my surprise!
Dessert = banana's foster! No doubt one of the nicer establishments in teh Manchester area!

I can't recommend this restaurant enough. Their food (a rotating menu about once a season) is fantastic, even though you might stuff yourself on the savory breads beforehand. I wouldn't mind going just for the bread basket and a few appetizers!! While the prices are higher end, it is DEFINITELY worth it. The waitstaff is amazing and very accomodating. I've gone here with groups ranging from 2 to 15 and they have always given us great service (though I recommend calling in advance so they can set up). This is truly one of my favorite restaurants.
