I have had gym memberships forever. This gym however is SO nice. This location is brand new, so of course its shiny. The equipment is not only brand new; but there is a lot of it and they have many state of the art machines.
The rates are pretty comparable; especially since the place is so nice!
The staff is very friendly; they have clean, large locker rooms; and free clean towel service. No more taking that wet towel to the office in your gym bag to stick up all day! -

Voted the Best Gym in DC by City Paper in 2008, my gym Results the Gym opened its 4th location in October, located between the Mt. Vernon metro stop on the Green line and the Gallery Place/Chinatown stop on the Red line.
The new gym is located in the same building as the brand new City Vista condos and the bright and huge new Safeway. As you enter the door to Results, you'll see a foosball table, a pool table and a pingpong table on the ground floor. Ascend the stairs and you will reach the main level of the gym where the front desk, all the equipment, workout studios and locker rooms are.
The new gym has many state of the art equipment, all new weight machines, free weights, treadmills, elipticals, arc trainers, and bikes that you can play games on while you ride. There are 2 studios at this location, one's for yoga, pilates and other lower intensity classes, and the other one's for cardio kickboxing, boxing, chisel, step, and other higher intensity classes. There's also an Abs Platform where everyday in the morning and evening there are 20-minute ab classes every half hour. There's also a video workout area where if you want to work on your abs while no ab classes are running, you can slide one of the abs workout dvds in and workout to the tv.
The cardio kickboxing class led by Frank at the gym is the best cardio workout you'll ever get. The class starts out easy but intensifies as it goes. It's funny to watch some people who are obviously in very good shape come in the class and do jumping jacks during the water break at the beginning, but then later on are left out of breath and can hardly move.
The locker rooms are kept meticulously clean as all Results locker rooms. This location has the luxury of having a steam room and a sauna in both locker rooms. There is also a jacuzzi that you can access through the separate inside doors in both locker rooms.Listed in: My Neighborhood

I've never had a gym membership in my life. Not to say I didnt do my fair share of working out over the years -- I swam competitively through college aka 15 years of waking up at 430am to go jump in a cold pool, going to class all day, then jumping back in the pool for afternoon workout...that's dedication, like whoa!
But I digress. I don't swim anymore...had enough of that for a lifetime...but needed to do SOMETHING and since Mr. Cook got back from Shanghai this summer he had been pushing to join a gym and ruin all the fun of being lazy.
So when we moved in December we joined the closest gym....the new Results in Mount Vernon.
I have nothing to compare this to, but the gym is sooooo nice!
1. The ladies locker room is very clean and spacious. It has a steam room, sauna, plenty of showers, and tanning booths.
2. They have a nice co-ed hot tub--havent been in it yet--but I hear it's pretty popular with the Euros. There is a huge salt water fish tank that is positioned in front of the hot tub so people can look in and apparently some hot-tub users have been caught behaving...inappropriately. Not that I'm going to player hate...if you like an audience you like an audience!
3. They have tons of free weights and lots of equipment. Mr. Cook is pretty obsessed with this one brand of super fancy equipment that is called HOIST. It uses your body weight against you as you lift. It's pretty bad ass. I was waaaaaay off with "body thrust" haha.....whoops!
4. The staff is pretty nice. But I would rate them the lowest on the list. The front desk staff are always friendly, and the manager that registered us is always really nice and yelling witty, funny comments to us, but some of the other staff arent as approachable.
I heard a rumor that Results is known for being gay-friendly. Not sure if other institutions are not, but I have noticed a lot of stares in Mr. Cook's direction by the hot dudes and NOT a lot coming my way.
Not cool guys, because I look damn good in a tank top and sports bra, but I'll take it as a compliment....Mr. Cook is quite tall and does have amazing hair and super zexy legs.
Results also has a lot of flexibility when it comes to your membership. They are currently offering pretty decent registration rate deals, and when the warm spring/summer months come along you're welcome to freeze your membership and just pay $15 a month or so until you're ready to come back full time when autumn returns. -

An update to my last review on here, I actually DID make the switch (lost the cushy corporate discount at WSC when I lost my cushy corporate job) and I'm super happy about it! Restults is spacious, clean, and have really fun, attentive staff - it's almost like they ENJOY being there. Amazing. I've since convinced another buddy to join as well, and now we're going regularly. Also got a trainer here, and they are great!

Review from R P.
Washington, DC
First and foremost, I would like to say that I do not work for the gym and I am not affiliate with any gyms or fitness centers what so ever. I to, am also a person who is very skeptical when I read a really good review for a service, a place, or a product, and I always think "this review must have been written by somebody who actually works there'.
I promise you people, this is not the case.
I relocated down here to the DC area about 4 months ago. I was in need of a 'real' gym outside of the 'fake me out' gym provided by my job.
I read many reviews and decided to do free trials at the gyms around where I work (Chinatown). (WSC, VIDA, Results)
I ended up signing up with Results. I signed up because I am not bound by an annual contract, there was NO enrollment fees charged in the month of September, and I also managed to sign up at a student rate, which is about $70/month.
I really like results thus far. The gym is NEVER fully packed. This isnt the best location for a gym down here in the area, so the foot traffic is not the greatest, BUT, this works out better for the gym members, because not many people actually use the gym. Everything is brand-new.
There is also a good amount of 'real' gym equipment. Bench presses, kettle bells, lots of dumbells, many machines and even those elastic bands that Terrell Owens uses.
The only reason I was a bit skeptical about signing up, because I was told that there is a heavy "gay' presence and vibe in the gym. I have sensed this vibe here and there, but nothing too major or fruity, that makes me uncomfortable.
I do wish that there was more 'eye-candy' tho! There is nothing like seeing a fly chick in spandex, getting her work-out on. At this location I don't see many good looking chicks, that often. But I am here to workout, not pick-up women, so that is my only con thus far, lol.
Take a tour. Get a free pass. Give it a shot. Its a lil more expensive that WSC, but is also more 'hard-body" than Vida but its clean and well kept.
Ok, this review is getting entirely too long and I should be working.
Hope this helps someone out there. -

I've been away from the gym life for a long time.... so long it seems they've updated the equipment! I love the new machines at this gym. I go in the evenings and while it's crowded it's not overwhelmingly so. I love the showers and the steam room... a real draw for me. I'm a little disappointed that the trainer never got back in touch with me after my free consultation but it's probably for the best.. I'm going to keep the money I was going to give her, purchase some new workout gear and keep working out on my own.
