2 reviews for Restaurant Mez
Ok, yelpers, this is only based on my own personal experience as the guy to first review also had his.
We stayed at the hotel and usually most hotel restaurants are pretty horrible and over priced. Anyways, we were tired from sightseeing all day and would have eaten just about anything bu this has nothing to do with why I'm giving them "four" stars.
For a hotel, we were pretty impressed. I had the crab cake sandwich like the guy who gave this place "two" stars. Seriously, the crab cake was delicious! I'm from SF and we have an abundance of fresh seafood and honestly, most crab cakes I've had are filled with fillers and hardly any crab. At Restaurant Mez, the crab cakes were filled with lots of lump crab meat and hardly any fillers!!! It was also tasty as well.
I came with my boyfriend as his two teenage children and we all approved of the food. In fact, we came back a second night to eat here again. The price is moderate not super pricey. The portions are decent.
Must try:
Crab Cake Sandwich
Fries (delicious!!! bistro style, a bit more fancy than your typical burger joint)
Dessert - not bad either.
for being the main restaurant inside of a hotel, this is pretty disappointing. if all it takes is feta cheese on a pizza to make a restaurant mediterranean, then OK...
the location and setup of the restaurant is very nice and we liked how it was quasi open w/ the hotel. the service staff seemed friendly enough too.
the food was lackluster to say the least. the wife got the pizza but it had the aforementioned feta cheese which both of us overlooked on the menu and we both couldn't go past one bite. to their credit, they saw that we didn't enjoy it and took it away and comped it. i had the crab cake sandwich but it wasn't what i was hoping for given the close proximity to the home of blue crab. we ended w/ the cheesecake and it tasted as if it were gotten from the store.
i'm assuming that the marriott figured since there is enough choices close by that it doesn't matter how good the restaurant is.
