Excellent Food! Everything was cooked to perfection. I had the Grilled Salmon with Veggies and they served it cooked with a butter/creme sauce that was awesome. They served it with Au-Gratin Potatoes and Green Beans which were both excellent as well. Definitely recommended!

from far far away the best place for lunch in financial district : quality, value, taste
I do miss the delicious Los Socios burritos, but this place is a worthy replacement. I just had a smoked salmon baguette for lunch and it was absolutely delicious! They have happy hour Thurs and Fri and it looks like a nice HH spot, so I plan on returning.
Went there today with a co-worker and we had a wonderful French lunch: onion soup (fantastic), croque madame (very good) with a side salad (comes with the croque and was fresh and tasty), spinach quiche (very good) and espressos after the meal (good strong coffee). Total with good tip = $40. I will be here regularly until my arteries scream - it's really good with great service, relaxing/casual atmosphere, and everyone who works here seems to speak French.
OK, I'm biased. Upon the return from my last trip to Paris, I sorely missed the ability to get a reasonable sized lunch of well prepared straight-forward french food at a reasonable price. This October my wish was granted. Brothers Ettienne and Remi Ducroix have created a lunch place where I can get a perfectly delicious coq au vin, cassolet, magret du canard, moules frits, etc.. for under $15, without fuss or intimidation.
Right now they're only open for lunch, but they tell me they're working on a dinner menu. I love these guys.
Just found a great place for lunch! Thank-God! For $9 you can have a nice range of french bites! Really good selection of baguette sandwiches and decent plates - we were surprised to see a great menu for lunch for very reasonable price.
Excellent spot for lunch, I might even come back tonight for dinner. The owner is extremely friendly and efficient, checking back often on the food but not too much to annoy. Great French food at reasonable prices. The steak frittes was perfectly cooked, and the herb butter had a hint of tarragon which really set it off. I usually play it safe at a new restaurant, but this was superb. Now I'm ready to dive in to some of their other dishes!
this is a great place for lunch downtown. They have quick hearty french food at a very reasonable price. My favorite was the coq au van and the french burger. Really nice owner chef's, brothers. Make you feel at home, like your a member of the family. They gave me a free drink to get me in the mood and a bottle of wine later, I didn't want to leave. Merci
Tasty and affordable French food, tucked away in an alley, but a definite gem. These brothers cook well and are super nice to boot. The menu isn't too huge, but what's on it is tasty and a great price for what you get. I've tried the mussels, croque monsier, duck, chicken sandwich, escargot.... it's all wonderful. Gotta say I like their chef salad a lot too.. with oodles of swiss and ham with walnuts, it's divine. Definitely give them a try!
Very excited about this new restaurant opening in the Financial District tomorrow (Tuesday, Oct 20th). Apparently, the menu resembles that of a French bistro. Will grab lunch there and confirm...
UPDATE (10/20/2009)
Just came back from a spot of lunch there with Tim V. The place was only about half full at 12.30 pm - perhaps not surprising, given they didn't really hit the PR machine in advance.
My very reasonably priced lunch ($9 for Canard aux pêches) was well prepared and authentically French - as are the wait staff and the chef/owners. The dining area isn't huge but table spacing is big enough not to feel cramped. Service was attentive and speedy.
All in all, a welcome European addition to the lunching landscape in the Financial District that won't break the bank.
