I think more places should be like 4580. In today's world you go out with a group and invariably someone in the group doesn't eat dairy, gluten, peanuts, etc... Me, I eat everything except monkey paw.
While making our plans for going out and I saw an press release in the paper that said "85% of the dinner menu at 4580 was gluten free" . This cinched the deal for my daughter who has real gluten problems. So off we went.
My only warning - this place has about a hundred glass doors that are all locked and you must go ALL the way around to the back to get in. I tell you this so that you don't look like the fools we did grabbing every door only to have it be locked and have everyone in the restaurant look at you like you're idiots.
4580 has a warm, attractive atmosphere and is a little quieter than many restaurants by Boulder standards anyway.
Service was prompt and attentive. The entire menu was clearly marked with what was sans gluten. This simple feature makes so much sense and avoids the back and forth with the server running back and forth to the kitchen asking about various items.
Food was great all the way around. The Osso Buco was tender while contrasted by the chewy grain that accompanied it. Others raved about the pork chop (I think from Long Family Farms), soups and salads were nice sized and tasty. Pricing was great and seemed like a good value. Wine by the glass was a nice big pour.
The owner or manager came around and seemed truly interested in what we thought of the food. The only disappointment was the gluten free chocolate torte was sold out for the night. They comped us a pear tart, which was excellent, but didn't satisfy our groups chocolate craving.

when i sit down and give my order i expect to be served some food. that didn't happen at 4580. we went there because we heard it was family friendly and that kids ate free during happy hour. however, they couldn't even get a grilled cheese for my son out to our table in 75min. it's one thing to make my wife and i wait, it's a totally different thing to make a 2 year old wait for something that simple.... and then when i asked to have the order boxed up and brought to the table asap (because we had reached the end of our son's limit for sitting still) they charged me for his meal which should have been free! that was all we could take. we didn't pay and left without being fed. we will never go back. they were pathetic.

Great service and amazing food! I talked to both Michaels' they have there (one is a bartender and the other is a server) and they are both amazing at their jobs! I will definitely be back the next time I am in Boulder!

what a tremendous value. what tasty food. what a great and interesting wine list. what friendly people. can't wait to go back for the rigatoni with sausage and a glass of vino at the bar....or another all out meal. or graze on tapas (featuring quite amazing prosciutto and house made dips)
