Pro-Tip: They often have deals on LivingSocial or their own website/email list.

This is the only resort that has their own dedicated lift to Squaw Valley. That's pretty much all that needs to be said.

Everything about this place is well planned and pleasantly executed. My gf and I stayed here for a few days and it was pretty magical (we used an online deal). Initially we were on the ground floor, but there was cigarette smoke in the room so we were upgraded to a room on a higher floor. The view was breathtaking. We could see the entire resort and the Lake.

In hindsight, the ground floor rooms are pretty sweet as they allow ski-in, ski-out access. Meaning, you can strap your board onto your feet and jet over to the lift and head into the main resort area.

Our new room smelled like someone had just gone to the bathroom, so we opened up the windows and checked out the rest of the resort. They had a lovely fire going in the fireplace in the lobby, a huge Santa chair, and a gingerbread VILLAGE. There were a dozen gingerbread buildings fully furnished with different things inside and out.

We had a spa certificate so we both got massages. The woman making appointments wasn't the best (she made us confirm and re-confirm multiple times), but the masseuses were fantastic. The waiting area was super comfortable.

The breakfast buffets were delicious. I don't know how they got so much fresh fruit up into the mountains.

They even have a heated pool! We didn't get to try it out, but we will next time!

Not terrible but not up to the standard their price would require.

Rooms: the rooms are pretty average, the fridge is small and inconveniently placed, the TV is small and the wireless connection, while free, is spotty. Beds are just ok, but the pillows are worth a mention: the most uncomfortable pillows ever. They have two kind, one is limp and useless, the other is plump and uncomfortable, pick your poison.

Service: the staff tries to be helpful but they are a bit out of their depth sometimes, and when they organize special events they are completely overwhelmed and fairly disorganized. The valet service is manned by ASSHOLES and the parking is very, very inconvenient, far and oddly placed (in order to force you to valet, I'm sure).

The food around here is good, not great but good (if you think this is great food, you don't know great food, sorry). Again, very overpriced.

I had high hopes coming here, the place itself is beautiful and the view is really something out of this world, but the resort is annoying, hell bent on stupid nickel-and-diming (what the hell is a "resort fee"? do I have a choice? no? then roll it up in the price of the room, morons) and in general doesn't live up to the expectations they set with their pricing and advertising.

If you get a good deal and you know what you're getting into great, just don't come here paying full price because it's not worth it.

Spent an October weekend here with the missus with the aim of extreme relaxation, and the Resort at Squaw Creek did not disappoint.

Long story short, the suite, food, spa, service and location were all top notch.

The place isn't cheap but it's five star all the way. I will return here again.

Got a SniqueAway deal and stayed here over Christmas. It was lovely-- really, really nice, but at full price just don't think it'd be worth it. Stayed in the fireplace suite with a view of the Valley-- the view was absolutely magnificent, but the view was really the biggest thing that differentiated it from any other hotel suite. The fireplace was a nice fireplace, the bathroom was a nice bathroom, and the kitchen area was a nice kitchen area-- but it wasn't the kind of thing that I left wanting to tell everyone I knew about. The nicest thing besides the view was the bed, which was incredibly comfortable and super warm. It was a very nice, beautiful room, but with a $700/night price tag I expect a bit more. I loved spending Christmas in our suite, but I loved it for the discounted price I got it at. If there is ever another Daily Deal I'd happily return, but not until then.

A beautiful resort in the prime of the Lake Tahoe area with a helpful staff, lovely buildings and rooms, and a prime selection of restaurants including Sandy's Pub and the flagship Six Peaks Grille. The pool, I should add, is also exceptional--even by upper-end resort standards. Needless to say, the skiing is also top-notch. And that lobby fireplace is exactly what you've always envisioned for an après-ski fireplace--you know it is.

All that said, the Resort at Squaw Creek is geared towards a middle-aged to older client base or family's with kids more than younger peeps I feel. What Northstar is for snowboarders, Squaw Creek is for older skiers. If you're under forty, you may feel bored and out of place, despite The Art of Flight (snowboarding film) holding one of its West Coast premires here.

I find the reviews that complain about the stairs and parking lot situation a little funny: yes, you have a lot of stairs to transverse, yes, that may be unwelcome to out-of-shape older folks but ummmm, it is a ski and golf resort, y'all. You know? I think they kind of expect active people here.

This resort does its very best to strip you of any vacation money you may/may not have planned to spend. When I payed the "resort fee" I was confident it covered the many luxuries and amenities this hotel offered, however I was wrong. In addition to the daily resort fee (and an insane nightly rate) there was a host of additional fees/inconveniences: i.e., hourly fees to rent a bike, $15 cocktails (seriously?!), etc . Also, the rooms have mini-fridges... but no freezers. Lovely tennis courts.. but the tennis balls are locked up.

And if you stay on the sleeper bed the pillows are the WORST. For the cost of this resort, I hoped to sleep on (almost literally) a cloud, not a cotton bag stuffed with springs.

However, the customer service and pool were fantastic. All the staff were
incredibly friendly and accommodating, and the pool area was very nice.

Taking advantage of a recent living social deal, I was able to spend an amazing weekend at the resort at squaw creek.

Nestled between the beauty of Lake Tahoe, the resort at Squaw Creek has everything you need for a wonderful stay.  The lobby is huge with checkerboard and chess tables, card tables, couches, and a fireplace.  The concierge was extremely helpful and the front desk staff were very pleasant.  To walk to our rooms we exited the lobby only to find a little street with shops and snacks.

Our room felt like paul bunyan went on an episode of what not to wear.  It still had its rustic, woodsy vibe, but with a very modern, sleek twist.  The pool area is huge and the pool bar is a sweet touch.

The breakfast buffet was one of the better hotel restaurants I've dined at.  Usually buffets seem crowded, messy, and unreplenished.  But here, the food was bountiful, yet very neat.  A personal favorite was the omelette station with an array of fresh ingredients.

I would definitely recommend staying here as I have not one negative thing to say!

'Just came back from an overnight getaway here (from a groupon special) and I have to say I'm really looking forward to my next visit! I'm just docking one star b/c everything is so f'ing expensive and the toilette did that gurgling thing in the night. This is something that happens a lot in big hotels, and it always wakes me up. I guess the expensive part is to be expected because it's a fancy place. Still, it would have been nice to be able to get a massage without spending $150. Partly you are paying for the atmosphere and resort feel. In fact, you are literally paying for that. They will tack an $18 "resort fee" onto your bill, even if you did the groupon thing.

Otherwise it's great. There are aspens growing all around the property, and great vistas of the surrounding peaks from everywhere you look. The beds are super comfy, with feather pillows and soft sheets (I stayed in a Forest Room). The decor is somewhere at the intersection between rustic and tasteful, so you get that lodge feeling without having it be overly kitsch. You get a mini-fridge, too, so you can keep beverages cold if you bring some. Even the windows open, which is rare in a big hotel.

The thing that really makes it is the staff. These people are very friendly and go out of their way to be helpful. It's almost weird how nice they are. I would say that I'll definitely be back, but since I bought two of the groupons it would have happened anyway. Instead I'll say that I'm very excited to go back!

Oh, a word of advice: bring flip flops if you want to use the spa after 6. They leave it open but you are on your own for footwear (you can use the giant plush robe that comes with the room). I always bring a pair of flip flops and was glad I did.

Also, if it's summer & you have a road bike, bring it! There are tons of great looking paved trails going all over the place! Not too crowded weekdays, so you can probably even work up some speed. Next time I am for sure bringing my bike. They also rent bikes but they are the slow beach cruiser kind. If forced to ride a giant pink bike with fat wheels I will do it, but only if there is no other option. Still it's a nice gesture that they provide them for guests with no bike of their own. There is a lot to see by bike so you can avoid driving if you wish.

Nice resort, even better with the Yelp deal of $179.00 per night with a $25 spa coupon & free breakfast coupon of $25.
Mrs D. & I took advantage of the late spring snow this past Memorial Day weekend & really enjoyed this place.
Recently remodled rooms had nice, beds, bathrooms & a bitching view of the snow/ tree covered hillside behind the resort.
I discovered I had left my I-Pod in the room, when I returned home, spoke to house keeping & they called me back with the found Item.
Said they would contact me for shipping payment to return it,but it showed up in a Fed Ex envelope @ my home a couple of days later ,pre-paid.
    Excellent customer serivce.!
Shuttle runs up to Squaw valley from the resort(free)every 20 minutes.
Also a nice walking path, leads up the grounds to the end of the valley.
Comped breakfast had quite a variety of items & included the tip.
    All Good...
    Can't wait to return.!

Smack dab in the middle of nature, it's a beautiful serene hotel if you're looking for a quiet relaxing stay. One of the nicest that I've stayed at in Tahoe. It's well-maintained on the inside and it feels like you're walking into a big cabin with a nice warm fireplace for a cozy "home" feeling. My family, being hella asian and all, were taking pictures all over the place as there's a lot to awe about here. It's a large resort and there's plenty of room to stretch your legs and explore the place from one end to another.

The standard room was clean. Nothing spectacular and very typical but what more did we need after a long day cooped up in a car!

    I'd come back, for sure.

The place is very beautiful and the staff is very helpful and friendly.  It was quite a nice change from staying at the smokey/dirty sheet Nugget in Sparks the night before.  It was ironic that the Nugget cost more than here.

The breakfast buffet was good also (e.g., omelet station, lox, etc.).  Didn't really appreciate the automatic 18% gratuity though for a less than 6 person party.  The self-parking is a bit far from the hotel.  It kind of reminds me of hotels on the Big Island where you have to walk past the valet car lot before you get to the self-park lot.  Kind of makes you feel like a second class citizen.  And, it seems like a waste when you see empty spaces in the valet area.  To me, valet service is a luxury for those who are in a hurry, don't care who drives their car, or they just want to focus on enjoying their vacation.  I don't have a problem w/ people using that service.  It's just that when it penalizes the self-park people it doesn't feel right.

Didn't like that they charge $5 to store your bike.  Since you can't bring your bike to your room, your only choice would be to leave it on the car then.

We had friends staying at the Village at Squaw Valley down the road and checked out their place.  Our place was definitely nicer but their place was roomier and had a full kitchen and dining table.  We also had a very nice pool area and theirs didn't have a pool unless they paid for the gondola ride and paid for the pool up the mountain.  The room price was comparable although I got my room via priceline bidding and they got theirs from hotwire.  The funny part is that we thought we were staying at the same place.  Hello, what's your room number?

Minus a star b/c of the resort fee, especially for not telling me ahead of time.  Nate the manager was helpful in working it out for us but it basically messed up an almost perfect stay.  Odd how this surprise fee bugged me more than the stained sheets at the Nugget.

FYI, priceline categorizes this resort as a four star hotel instead of a resort, so be aware of those extra resort fees.

I'm starting to think that these "discount" websites like priceline or hotwire are sometimes not the best deal.  When my friend compared the packages offered directly by the hotel websites they were very similar.  For instance, his hotel had a gondola/pool package that would have been a better deal than his hotwire price plus paying for the pool separately.  Our hotel had a breakfast buffet package which would have been just a bit more than getting it separately, but would have saved us from the priceline hassle.  It seems that the hotels cannot blatantly advertise a cheaper room price than what you get via one of the "discount" websites, so they offer these packages to get around any potential violation of the low price guarantees of the "discount" websites.  So, when you are trying to figure out what is a good price to pay for a hotel, I would suggest that you analyze the packages offered and check if you can really piece things together separately for a cheaper price.

We spent our one year anniversary here and had a great time. They have a lift that most of the season let's you ski in ski out, great pool spas and dining options and the view was amazing!

Another nice touch was that when we told them it was our one year anniv they surprised us with chocolate covered strawberries and champagne.

Another plus was all the cute stores in the resort, and the spas. The casual restaurant was nice but pretty pricey for bar food. Overall and amazing trip, we will be back!!

I'm poor and I'm cheap. A Yelp Deal took this out of the insanely expensive category and put it into once-a-year treat. We came up here for our anniversary ("13 long years" as my wife puts it) and, in late may, got ready for shorts and tees weather and margaritas by the pool. Snowed 6 inches. Almost never stopped. And. it. was... beautiful. True, it was snuggle inside instead of hike outside, but what a view! What a great place to stay warm! Lovely room, courteous staff. And hey, they knew who we were. No problem with the reservation or the Yelp Deal. No problem with the billing. No hassles at all.

The lift that serves the Resort was closed for the season, despite the late snow, but we weren't there for the skiing anyway. Must be great to finish your run a short walk from your room. The bar looked very inviting.  Very very tempting after a day tweaking your knees on Headwall.

As a Home Theater fanatic, this place would lose points for the tiny, standard-def TV... but really, should anybody be watching TV in their room when there is so much beauty outside. Unless they broke their leg, in which case, thumbs down on the teeny tiny TV!

There is an open walkway lined with shops separating the rooms from the lobby and restaurants, so we got as covered in snow as the flowers in the planter boxes (spingtime at Tahoe!) but we are tough cookies and read the weather reports, so we were all parka-d up. You can go straight out of your room, down to ground level, and then walk (run screaming in the snow) to the jacuzzis.  Next year we'll come back in the summer and take the hiking trails, or maybe climb straight up the mountain. But can we outrun the bears?
Loses a star for inconvenient parking unless you use their valet service. Also, the breakfast (included in the deal) was good, not great.
    Recommended. I'll be back.

My husband and I stayed here over President's Day weekend.

Let's start with the good: best thing about this place is the access to the mountain. You can literally roll out of your room and hit the slopes.

    Now the bad:

    (1) When we arrived at 5am (after 10 hours in the car...horrible traffic) the valet told us to self park because he was "busy". It was so rude! The woman at the front desk wasn't helpful, and they clearly did not plan for the predicable rush in guests as a result of the long holiday.

    (2) We had breakfast at the Six Peaks restaurant buffet and at least two of the plates available for people to pick up had already been used. Very gross and unexpected.

    (3) Finally, the cleaning staff didn't even clean our room one day! We left  in the morning and were gone all day so we have no idea what happened.

Overall, the room was "meh". For $500 a night, this hotel is definitely not worth it. This definitely doesn't seem like it should be included in the Top 50 resorts in America. I feel like the hotel has a captive guest audience because of its location and proximity to the slopes, but they don't provide high levels of service.

    Would not recommend.

The Resort at Squaw Creek is a bizarre but marvelous place. It rises dramatically out of the forest like an obsidian fortress and has an austere exterior, yet once inside a deluxe fireplace suite, it feels like a cozy and inviting cabin.

My mother and I came in August; I prefer warm weather recreation, and as beautiful as I imagine it is in winter, I found it enchanting in the late summer. We stayed on the top floor in a fireplace suite, which was the perfect size for two. Laying out by the lagoon of pools (three of them) and hot tubs turned out to be my preferred form of recreation that weekend, but walking around the grounds (195 acres!) was great too.

The service was five star across the board. From check-in to check-out, everyone involved was perfectly accommodating.  While I loved the room, the lobby was expansive and provided sweeping views of Squaw, and I felt like I was on the set of a Squallywood romance. Mom and I only ate in the Sweet Potatoes Deli for breakfast, but it was good and simple, and I bought a coffee mug.

Whether you're a sun or snow bunny, Squaw will pamper you like a baby.

My recent stay at The Resort at Squaw Creek was very enjoyable, relaxing and loaded with amenities. The staff was very friendly and the rooms (I upgraded to Mt View) were very nice. Not enough snow to make the lift tickets worth it, but it will be the ideal setting once the ski conditions improve. The lift is about 30 yards away. The workout facility, spa and heated pool were ideal in getting in a few good workouts. I recommend highly.

I still love this place, especially the livinggroupjetsocial deals you can find for the resort these days.

We went back for a two-day boarding weekend after the snow storm and everything from the level of customer service to the room standard stays pretty much quite satisfactory. The boarding-in/out feature with the free shuttle that takes you into the village if you want to have a few drinks after a long day of boarding are all very convenient features when in Tahoe.

The only thing I was a bit disappointed in was not having access to the breakfast omelette bar this time around, this was apparently discontinued after Feb--bummer.

    I'll be back again soon!

I'm not a skier or a snowboarder.  I retired from that after one lesson, five attempts, multiple times falling off the lifts and one time actually getting hit by a lift.  I don't really like the outdoors and would prefer city life.  I do love deal websites so naturally I got my Squaw Creek deal through Living Social.  We got the $25 spa credit, valet parking, free breakfast and free bottle of wine.  Not too bad for the price.

If I came up for skiing, this would be a fabulous place to stay.  The lift is right outside the hotel door and it takes you right to the top.  It was a little crowded when we arrived, but not bad at all, considering it was October.  Only a rotary club was taking over the place - that's right.  A rotary club in Halloween costumes and everything.

The food here is really not great.  I mean it's just your regular all-American stuff and quite disappointing.  That's dinner.  Breakfast for free is better.  It's definitely not worth the money if you're paying.

The spa is a little better.  I got a deep tissue massage and it was probably the weirdest massage I've ever gotten.  Totally tickly at first and then oh- for the love of God it hurts!  I guess I left a little tense still.

Shuttle service is great for the skiers.  However, if you're there in shoulder season, the shuttle leads you to nothing.  I mean the whole place is closed aside from maybe the pizzeria.

Overall, it's still a really nice place to visit and probably one of the better resorts.  Nice rustic lobby.  Polite staff.  Plus a nice sized pool and a decent gym.

Great resort, with many excellent features especially the POOLS!

This is a very scenic resort, great for summer or winter. We came in the summer, where it was less busy, so nice and quiet. We stayed here using the groupon deal.. which included valet, room, buffet breakfast - and a bottle of wine. The wine was a very cheap bottle, probably less than $10 - but the buffet was excellent. Their restaurant is overlooking the golf course and pools, with the mountains in the background. I could just imagine how beautiful it would be in the winter!
Their pools in my opinion is the highlight! There are a few pools, and a few hot tubs.. so ample space for privacy. The kids pool has a waterslide in it.. and all of this has incredible scenary around it.. and a river running right around it so while you relax in your chair, you can hear the sounds of the stream in the background (after a long day it was nice having a snooze down there!).
Will return to this place for sure.

AH THIS PLACE IS AMAZING. THE BEST PLACE TO RELAX.

    What amazes me:
Their ginormous land. They have a HUGE land behind the resort. I dont know if people go there to look. But it's beautiful. That land is mainly for golfing. But I went just to walk around and see what this resort was all about. Not to mention there's a CREEK within a resort! WOWZA.

    What's cool:
They have the ski resort lift straight from the resort area. It's pretty convenient. If you ever want to go skiing, and relaxing for a day or two- this place is amazing. Worth the money.

    The service:
People over there were very chill and welcoming. I arrived at 8pm for my check-in time and they were willing to extend my day to 1pm. (Checkout time usually around 11a). While I was there, at 3am in the morning, I realized that I needed to buy something from the nearby store near Truckee (Because all the stores at the Resort closed already). The valet was nice enough to get the car for us--- even in the middle of the night-- and still greet us warmly. I really liked the people here; so chill.

    The bad:
The resort is in the middle of two towns. Kind of far. So if you want to go to CVS or Safeway, you'd have to drive for a while to get there. There's a mini store below the resort (I think it's Seven Eleven) and the price is expensive. One cup ramen/noodle was 2.50$- outrageous! lol.

    The weird:
I woke up at 5am in the morning and I could literally HEAR WOLF HOWLING. LOL. That's both freaky & weird. But the area itself is contained- so you're safe. I was just being paranoid.

    The Outside:
The night is really really dark there. (Duh). But if you ever go out of the resort-- do NOT walk alone. It is FREAKY. Wolf howling and it's just dark. Make sure you drive your car down. Or better yet, pay for valet--- best choice.

    The great:
Everything. The service. The resort. The massage. The people.

I got a free breakfast & wine. It's just the best.

    WILL I GO BACK?
    YES! :)

waaaaaaaaay overpriced resort.  the return on your nightly rate is pretty low.  don't get me wrong, nothing bad about the rooms, but everything is far from special.

also, watch out for the RACIST, demeaning staff at the spa.  (the staff insulted my fam and openly treated the white customers with more respect)

the only reason that this place deserves one star is that the bar (sandy's pub) had nice, friendly bartenders.

    i'll never stay here again.

If you're like 1% of the population who can't even hang on the bunny slopes (that's me!), you don't need to moan and groan when your friends drag you to Tahoe because of the Resort at Squaw Creek.

This fabulous resort is about a 3.5 hour drive from San Francisco to the Northern part of Lake Tahoe. It has a beautiful golf course nestled in the valley, a ski lift right on site, heated pools and hot tubs for those cold nights. If you like hiking, there's a main path past the ski lift which shoots off to tiny trails. We took the one that affords views of the golf course and it was such an easy and peaceful hike.

The lobby has plenty of oversized leather couches, a grand piano; seating areas that welcomes groups and couples alike. Play a game of checkers or chess to pass away the time (BTW, I'm better at chess when I'm tipsy! checkmate in 5 moves! hahaha!) or relax in front of the stone fireplace while you read your book.

The bed was comfy but pillows were too soft, almost flat. I love the fresh scent of their toiletries and it's sulfate and paraben free.

The breakfast buffet at Six Peaks Grille was awesome! From the fresh fruits (the raspberries were super sweet, even in October) to the pancakes with warm maple syrup and succulent sausages. On the weekends there's a omelette station so you can have them made to order. The bold tasting coffee will wake you up.

Valet parking comes at $17/day and I imagine you would want to take advantage of it since finding parking here yourself, will take about a 10 minute walk from the parking lot. (when it's snowing outside and you're carrying all your gear with you, $17 a day ain't so bad)

Service is friendly and efficient, from the front desk people to the valet guys and the folks in the deli.  The only reason why this place isn't getting five stars is because the service we got at Six Peaks grille (both weekend days we were there) was lackluster.

Whether you're a seasoned skier or you fancy apres ski WITHOUT the skiing part (that's me again!), the Resort at Squaw Valley will make your stay a most memorable one.

Boyfriend and I stayed for a night after a day of riding at Squaw. When we checked it, the staff was very friendly, down to earth, and professional. FYI: The self-parking is hella far from the entrance, so if you have a lot of gear/luggage, your best bet is to get valet service.

We stayed in the Deluxe Forest View King room. The room was spacious and had a very comfortable bed. I normally don't like hotel soaps and lotions, but I LOVED them here! They had a lavender soap and the lotion smelled really nice! They have a hair dryer available.

The deal we had included a breakfast buffet which had a good selection of hot and cold items.

Overall, it was a nice place to stay and we would come back again.  Since we only stayed 1 night and didn't wander around the resort or use the pool/hot tub, so we're giving it 3 stars.

Wow, what a great Birthday! Thanks to Resort at SC, my special day was made unforgettable. Plus, a great deal with complimentary valet parking, bottle of wine, $50 for spa services and breakfast for two would definitely make anyone happy.

Oh, and can I just say how INCREDIBLE the staff are? Highest level of professionalism, friendliness and complete investment in making our stay memorable.

My boyfriend absolutely L-O-V-E-D the hot stone massage! I'd never seen him act like a 5 year-old before, all antsy and excited. Wow.

Sandy's Pub menu is fantastic. If you ever get a chance to check it out, their Seared Ahi salad is delicious, as well as the pasta dish (can't remember the name but it's the only one they have), and the mud pie is to die for!
Plus, I have to thank them for introducing me to shuffleboard! In a nutshell, an amazing escape from the city, and the perfect romantic getaway for any couple.

Went here over the Thanksgiving holiday  to take advantage of the early season snow and it was very fitting for the occasion. Cute, family-friendly, festive place complete with a giant gingerbread house, train sets, and even Santa Clause.

The room was perfect; a suite with a fireplace, full kitchen, and separate living room and bedroom.

Service was incredible from start to finish. They're over-accommodating to make things as convenient as possible- especially the bell staff. They even went so far as to chill our beers for us when we called in from the slopes.

The spa was also very accommodating as they let us use the facilities for free after we had checked out so we could shower before the trip back home.

Other great pluses: convenient ski in/ski out (takes you to the top of granite chief I believe, so only appropriate for non-beginners), complimentary ski check (leave your skis with the staff close to the lift and they'll dry your boots overnight and have everything ready for you in the am), and the convenience of everything you need right in the complex.

There were a few downfalls. The outdoor hot tubs are so far from everything and don't offer changing rooms. This makes for a very long, cold walk back. There is no walk within the complex that avoids going outside. It was zero degrees Farenheit when we went, so this was a little inconvenient. Staff at times were slightly disheveled - especially the short manager guy who gave us a hard time about getting breakfast. Then again, it was early in the season and they maybe hadn't worked out all the kinks yet. It's a far drive from squaw village, so not really great if you want to go out at night. Finally, the holidays make for lots of children and large families at this place; if that's not your thing, steer clear.

    Overall, another great squaw option.

A fireplace, two flatscreens, and a lift that's literally less than 100 or so yards from the elevator. The suite contained a fold-out couch and a large king that we eagerly jumped into. Eagerly. The ice rink was bare, but I think it's only because the temperature remained slightly above freezing, so we didn't get a chance to scratch the ice.

A very enjoyable stay, especially when you could sit on your ass all day and get the shuttle driver to drive you back and forth to the village.

The only drawback, was that we were hearing what sounded like someone's AC/heater going off constantly. I'm not joking, it was as if someone was turning on and off a huge fan every other minute throughout the night and into the morning. It didn't bother us enough to keep us up, but it was the only major drawback of our room.

As a reply to Marc & Heimo Brandstatter (Manager of Squaw Creek)

I've repeatedly asked for a report from the pest control to assure me that the room I stayed in on Sept 16th / RM 704 is bed bug free but your company refuses to do to, now I need to place a call to the Dept of Health Services to see what proof I can get to make sure that I did not bring the bugs into my home.  That's the only reason why I need to see the report, to assure me that the room is really bug free, I can't just take your word for it when I bed bug bites to prove my case, it's like me telling you something as simple as yes, I went to get a carwash, my car is perfectly clean but I don't have a receipt to prove to you and no, you can't see the car, but take my word for it.  Get where I'm coming from?

When Squaw Valley Resort offered a deal on Bloomspot, one of my girlfriends forwarded it on and suggested we have a girls weekend up in Tahoe.  Next thing you know we had 11 ladies on board and had purchased 3 rooms.  The excitement level for the weekend was at a 10.

Fast forward 3 weeks and our enthusiastic group was dwindling fast. Suddenly we had 3 non-refundable rooms (b/c they were pre-purchased through Bloomspot) and only 8 girls. We happen to be of the "we-would-rather-cuddle-than-pay-more-money-than-w e-have-to" variety... so the extra space was not a good thing. We did some brainstorming... the best idea being to use the 3rd room as our "entertainment suite".

And then we actually got to Squaw Valley Resort.  The staff was so great.  They let us exchange our 3 pre-paid rooms for a Penthouse Suite.  When the suite they gave us had only two king size beds and a pull out sofa, they promptly moved us a few rooms over to another suite with 2 queen size beds, a king bed, and a pull out couch.  Worked like a charm.

Over the rest of the weekend they proved to be no less helpful.  When we decided early in the day that hiking was out and wine drinking was in, they pointed us in the direction of a wine shop.  When it became hot tub time, the staff was quick to deliver 6 more robes to our suite so that we all may make the trek in style.  When we decided that wine drinking on the couch was far superior to going out, the front desk helped us order pizza.

All-in-all we had a great time and escaped girls weekend spending less than $100 each.  Was the hotel a little dated and 80s?  Yeah. Was a bagel in the morning $10. Yeah.  But who cares when its just for one night.  It is a repeat for sure!

    Purchased deal from groupon.

Staff were so nice and welcoming. Our King suite with fireplace was so clean, nice and modern. We stayed in September, hung out by the pool and the service by the pool was exelent . Did a spa treatment and the service was excellent too. Loved how they have two restraunts. Breakfast buffet was good quality and Dinner was delicious. They have a cute area with fire pit where you can make smores and hang around the fire.

The property is well-appointed and beautiful.  Free shuttle to Olympic Village. A little convenience store is on site, as well as a few pricey clothing shops.

Spa was fabulous, locker room was very clean, and I had a great massage with Zoey.

We had a King Deluxe room.  The thermostat clearly had a mind of its own.  When we first entered,  the room was very warm.  After fiddling with the thermostat, we thought we'd set it down to 70 or so.  After returning from dinner/drinks, we came back to no discernible difference so cranked it down a few more degrees.  We woke up to a 55 degree room in the middle of the night!  Argh.  After adjusting back to 70, the room got hot again.  In room coffee maker was also broken, as it flooded the counter when I tried to make a cup of coffee.

The shuttle driver, valet staff, and waitstaff for the breakfast buffet (which was ok, but not worth the steep price) all seemed a little...not sure how to describe it...maybe sad and/or disaffected.  I'm not really sure why.  It wasn't that anyone was rude per se, but I didn't get a vibe that the employees were particularly happy or even ok with being there.

The experience at Squaw was excellent from start to finish.  I purchased a living social coupon which consisted of a forest-view guestroom, free bottle of wine, free valet parking, free breakfast, and two $25 spa credits.

Initially I requested a king sized bed but instead we got two queens. However, the view from our room was of the mountains which was so worth it, it was beautiful to look at!

I've never stayed at a ski resort before but now I can see the appeal.  It's extremely convenient with stores, a bakery and a few restaurants within, perfect for relaxing!

They provide a free shuttle every half hour to the village and we were able to walk around there and enjoy dinner at one of the restaurants there as well.

The breakfast brunch was amazing- my favorite part was the omelet bar which had every topping that you could ever want and they even had egg whites only upon request! It's such a great way to start the morning and then hit the slopes.

Loved the service here and definitely want to come back here again!

ZERO STARS to start with, then a 4 star finish

Great accommodation but beware their charging policy. We PREPAID for our stay and yet they charged me 200 bucks a day plus an additional random 100 bucks to the card that I lodged with them at their request for incidentals. 500 bucks charged without my knowledge for incidentals for a two night stay!!!!
Without knowing they'd done this we then actually paid our incidentals when we checked out, so they basically more-than-double charged us for it.
Only found out when we returned and now I'm battling with them to get 500 bucks back.
Called them to resolve and was abused by a very rude staff member Bart Valencia who would hardly even let me speak.
Absolutely outrageous that it occurred, then doubly bad that I was abused by rude staff. And I still need to find away to get the 500 bucks overcharged back.

Updated 04/13/11: What a Joke, they hit me with ANOTHER $200 on the Monday, a day after I had checked out and paid my bill in full. I called them again last night to find out what is going on.  Why is someone charging my card after i have checked out? Fraudulent card transactions? Unable to get through to accounts (straight to voicemail).  This time at least the front desk was polite and helpful (thank you Javier, you are a credit to this hotel), but still no closer to resolution.

Updated 04/13/11: Accounts (Chris) just called me back. He is looking into it...

Updated: 04/13/11: Chris called me back again, he will ensure that their processors rectifies the charges and he says he will get the resort manager to call me about the problems I experienced

Updated 04/13/11: Joel Walker (Resort Manager) just called me back.  He seemed genuinely concerned about my issues and will be speaking to those who dealt with me.  So long as the charges get straightened out I'll be happy.  I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt and have changed my review to 4 stars. Thank you Joel.

If you don't have any 'better' option to stay at Lake Tahoe, you might want to consider Squaw Creek. This resort possibly has been going around for more likely 10 years and I've to say that you get what you pay for. We went there mid of October (less crowded) and we glad to say that we did enjoy our stay. Unfortunately, the jacuzzi and the pool were being repaired for the whole week during our stay, but that didn't stop us to enjoy other facilities this resort provided. My husband took the benefit of the gym, and I enjoyed having lunch at Sandy's pub. Yes, you have to go to Sandy's pub to get the chicken wings and the southern chicken. They're just awesome!

enough said. I would rate Squaw Creek 4/5. And if you want to compare SC, compare to Northstar.

Our family of four just got back from a weekend here and what an awesome weekend it was. When we pulled up to the front, we were very warmly welcomed by the staff outside. When I told the guy I was planning to self-park but check-in first, he didn't bat an eye and said I was more than welcome to leave my car in the front, check-in, bring our bags up to the room and then come back to self-park my car. Very accommodating. When we walked in the lobby, I was totally wowed. Comfy chairs all throughout, two chess tables, and one checkers tables. The views from the lodge were gorgeous. The front desk were warm and welcome, as well. For the four of us, we had the fireplace suite that had a king bedroom with a living room. In the living room was a sofa bed that the kids slept on. The bathroom was beautifully tiled with a shower and separate soaking tub. I was equally impressed with the kitchen that had a cooktop, built-in cabinet dishwasher, microwave, and plenty of stainless steel cookware, silverware, plates and glasses. We stopped at the local Safeway to pick up groceries which allowed us to have several meals and snacks in the room.

We ventured out and played in the snow several times. We are not skiiers or snowboarders but when the slopes to the resort shut down, there was plenty of sledding to be had down the hills behind the resort. The resort provided plenty of free loaner sleds which was a great touch. We went to the pools and hot tubs but I was disappointed that the pools were not as hot as I expected. They were very lukewarm and given how cold it was, I was expecting much hotter temps. We would have been too cold swimming so we went to the hot tub instead. There are three hot tubs at different sizes so the hot tubs weren't overly full. It would have been nice to have umbrellas up around the pools/hot tub area. It was snowing/raining (which I imagine happens alot) and when we got out of the hot tubs, our robes were icy cold on the outside due to the falling moisture. It would have been nice to have the option of hanging/setting our belongings under umbrella to preveny putting cold, wet robes on after the hot tub.

There were plenty of shopping options on the grounds, as well as, off the grounds. The cafe had grocery items, wine/beer for purchase, and reasonably priced coffee and food. During the day we took the free shuttle to Squaw Valley USA which had many restaurants and shops to wander around. I was excited to snag a pair of $20 ski pants from a sidewalk sale. There is also a place where you can take a cable car up to the top of the mountain ($24 adults, $6 kids, free 3 and under). We didn't do that this time but I want to do it next time.

Overall, I had a fantastic time. My husband and I commented that there were plenty of options to spend little or no money which is great given the price of the resort. We got a great deal using Sniqueaway which I am hoping we can use again. I think staying at the resort is going to be a yearly tradition, for sure!!!

I'm sure this place is great for people who make use of the ski in ski out access, but I didn't take advantage of that during my stay. The resort is beautiful, but it has that uppity, pretentious feel to it that I despise. The spa services were great, but expensive. The food everywhere we went was really good, but expensive. The room was cozy, but didn't seem that special to me, especially when considering the price.
