1 review for Residence Inn San Diego Oceanside
New and nice. Though the parking lot and swimming pool outside the window were brightly lit, the curtains were thick and closed completely, so the room was dark enough for a good night's sleep - and to keep the children asleep until a reasonable hour.
Service is spotty - it took way too long to get the sofabed sheets brought up when we arrived from our 11:40 flight from SAN, nearly an hour's drive away. A great hotel would have had the bed made up for us when we called in informing them of the flight delay.
Breakfast is crowded, and there is a long wait for the one waffle iron that takes three minutes to cook. The staff shuts down breakfast aggressively at 9 am - turning off the lights, turning off the orange juice dispenser, swooping in and grabbing the mostly-depleted food trays. Refills are not generous: if the scrambled eggs are nearly gone at 8:45, don't hold your breath waiting for more.
The area around the hotel is under construction - lots of "coming soon" signs for coffee shops, nail salons, gyro lunches - a standard strip mall. For now you have to drive a mile or so for supplies, not a big deal. There is a small exercise room in the hotel, not really anywhere to go jogging outside - this is a sprawl neighborhood, built for cars, not people.
Summary: it's comfortable and pleasant facility but the service was definitely a little strange.
