7 reviews for Residence Inn by Marriott
When going back to Stockton last weekend for a friend's wedding at Brookside (which was lovely, by the way), one of my best friends and I debated where we should stay with our boyfriends. First, I suggested the old Radisson, which is now the Stockton Grand, but soon will be a Hyatt (or a Hilton, I always get them confused). Then, she suggested the Residence Inn and discovered that we could get a 2 bedroom suite, complete with kitchen, for $160 a night with a AAA card. We were sold. Once we got there, I was impressed with the spaciousness of the room, the amenities in the kitchen, the cute living room, and the two separate bathrooms. It felt like we were in an apartment. Now, much to our surprise and delight, we discovered that two of our other friends were staying next door- which flash forward about 7 hours, and the 6 of six were voraciously consuming Viva burritos at some hour of the night in our cute living room while watching SNL. Loved it.
Note: loss of star for not having the room ready at check-in time- we had to wait until 3:20 instead of 3pm.

I stay only at the Residence Inn by Marriott, I stay there at least 14 days every month on business, they staff is great, the rooms are clean, and the only thing I would like to see is maybe bacon once in a while and maybe steamed rice every morning. I will stay there until they close, now days, we consumers have to watch our pennies, but the value you get from a Marriott brand is unbeatable. I don't mind spending a little more for quality.
Thank you,
Mai Lee
NEVER AGAIN. Dirty, scary, itchy, and unaccomodating staff.
So, I'm from Stockton, ok. But thought it would be fun to have a 'fakecation' one weekend, and stay in a hotel. So we do. BIG MISTAKE. Looks ok at first glance. But ooooh that 2nd glance. Started off ok, room looks fine, cable, spa, whatnot. Go to get in bed, and I always check the sheets. (used to work in a hotel). Sheets look fine. I get in. Cozy up, turn on the tele. Soon my arm starts to itch. and itch. and itch more. I have a huge rash, where my arm has been touching the bedspread. Jump up, and caught a view of the mattress. There is a FAT stain. Brownish-rust color. (umm... blood?)
Ok, so go to wash my arm, and decide to check the bathroom. On closer inspection, same color spots appear more... and more... So by now we are thouroughly disgusted. We check out right then, and were DENIED our $$ back. Took months to finally get a credit.
Beware, my fine feathered friends. Beware.

What do I love more than hotels with complimentary breakfasts? Hotels with complimentary breakfasts and rooms with fully equipped kitchens! Plus they also have free wi-fi and it's pet friendly! My room was nice and comfy after a long day of consuming wine. I was just happy that I was able to microwave my leftovers from lunch and eat them off of real plates and with real forks and spoons. The shower head had different settings and the water pressure was just perfect. The tv was cool because it was on a pivoting platform instead of inside a huge wooden chest. The dishwasher was loud as hell and seemed to be on forever even though I set it to short wash. The walls were made of paper, then again isn't it like that in all hotels? The room to our left had a barking dog and the room to our right had a snorer, neither bothered me since the dog wasn't loud and I already had a snorer breathing heavily in my ear. The breakfast was just okay but I just liked the fact it was conveniently downstairs and that I didn't have to drive around town to a local McDonald's. They served scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausages, fruit, yogurt, biscuits with gravy, toast, bagels, and waffles you can make yourself. They also had tea, coffee, orange juice, and cranberry juice. I'll be staying here from now on when I go to the local festivals.

I stayed here for 2 days and 1 night.
I loved it.
I loved there gym and the room was amazing.
They even had a big pool, jacuzzi, tennis court, and basketball court.
Everything was clean.
Better than 2 other residence inns I have ever been to.
The ONLY down fall was they have a HUGE spider problem.
Not inside, but outside.
Everywhere I looked there was spider webs and huge brown spiders.
I never got any on me, but it was gross.
And there was a wasp nest right outside my window, the screen was bent open, and I couldn't open the window, and I let the front desk clerk know about it and she just gave me a weird look...like she didn't really care.
But it was a good place though.
I was sad to have to leave it.

The place is nice and the staff are really friendly. Nice and decent room, equipped with kitchen. Hearty breakfast every morning. Coffee and tea supply throughout the day. You can even use the bbq grill if you want. Well, if we're going to Stockton again, we will definitely stay here again.
Residence Inn offered long term business travelers the convenience of a full kitchen and pampering of a marriott standard hotel. I have taken a star away as there is no King Size bed and the carpet next to the bed is sticky (previous guests spilled drinks and cleaning crew has not had a chance to clean the carpet?) I felt safe on property as there is a security car that drives around the parking lot throughout the night (Though, if it is in a safe area, why would they need night security?) The room door did not close properly despite a heavy door, I had to push it to ensure it latched. Overall, it is the most expensive hotel in Stockton, CA that I know of at $169.00 with no discounts for a studio/1 bdrm. The Courtyard next door offers $129 per night Thursday through Sunday and $159 Monday through Wednesday, there is no kitchen in the room though.
Will update in a few more stays unless I'm convinced by Hampton Inn to move there instead.

Now a month later, and I am still at the hotel thanks to work.
Multiple stays at the hotel, and multitudes of problems. Not at all the standard I expected of Marriot, Hilton may be, but definitely not Marriott. Oh well.
1) Ripped shower liner (one stay)
2) No shower liner (different stays - twice)
3) Sink area not cleaned
4) Wireless internet not function, complained but was not addressed till the day I checked out.
5) Was blamed by front desk that I didn't not submit an engineer request to fix the internet so I had no rights to complain after the stay.
Wrote a comment / review on last stay, never heard back.
Unfortunately, the Hampton Inn in Stockton isn't in Stockton, it is off Hwy 99 and in the middle of farmlands. Courtyard and Residence Inn are own by the same Franchisee, so a bad stay at Residence Inn doesn't allow me to change to Courtyard to not support them. Oh Sheraton, why are you so late in opening (Jan08??) There is no other hotel out here that I can stay at.
Update Jan 08
The service has greatly improved. May be it is due to the length of time I spent there.
