Okie Dokie! as they say in Wisconsin. This was a comedy of errors from start to finish of our stay. This was our first time trying out this hotel in Wisconsin. We return every 3 years to visit my husband's family and to go to his high school reunions. We had read some worrying things about the decor being dated but we decided to give it a try. Well this is where the fun started. We entered a completely newly renovated room with a kitchen with granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances and the smell of new cabinets. The bathroom was also completely redone with granite but the problem was the new carpets in the vanity area were soaking wet. We were so tired from our late arrival that we just left it until the morning. The general  manager Mr Galvez was very apologetic and he moved us to another room after they determined that it was flood water seeping through the foundation.(This is June 2008 and Wisconsin and Midwest are in the grip of flooding.) The new room was more spacious as they put us in the handicap room. It has a bathroom so big and new that you could throw a party in there. The door needed a new safety latch but it seemed good to go. Two days later I was woken by dripping at 3am. It was a leak over the tub. The utility cabinet in the bathroom was also unlocked....which is kinda dangerous for kids. I reported the drip and they told me that it was the visitor in the unit above not using the curtain correctly and that it would be taken care of. I had to complain for three more morning when they promptly moved the guy out of the room above and we had no more drips.....still convinced it was a pipe problem and not a curtain problem. Then the  following night the toilet flushing mechanism broke and then it got clogged and the manager was there with a worker in no time. They offered to move us again. I went to the new room and it was another upgrade to a new two room suite but it was a trek to the other side of the sprawling complex and it was two nights until we left. So we turned them down and while we were out our toilet was replaced. OK...so nothing else could go wrong....No you are incorrect. On our last night I am lying in bed in the dark and the lamp next to me starts shorting out and shooting blue sparks. Are you kidding me?
Well then why the 4 stars you may ask. Well the things that went wrong as just so out in left field we want to think that they are teething issues with the renovation or they put lipstick on a pig...the jury is still out.
Now for the upside. The manager Mr Galves is the most responsive polite man I have ever dealt with. Anthony is this guy that helped us a lot. He became our running joke as the hardest working guy in Wisconsin. Anthony came to see our leak. He helped us move, he fixed the lock on our door, he was mowing the lawn, cleaning the pool, serving ice-cream at the pool, going to buy milk for cereal....I am not kidding this is just a few of the things we saw him do during our stay. The breakfast ladies are super helpful and sweet and smiling and they will get you juice and coffee. The cleaning ladies always greeted us and every day we left a tip in our room a unseen lady called Phyllis would leave us a sweet thank you note. The front desk was responsive and helpful. The breakfast was fresh and bountiful and our only complaint was that they ran out of milk a few times. They would give me tin foil to take freshly made waffles back to our suite for the kiddo and hunnybunny.
The rooms look really nice and fresh. The bedding is great and the pillows as soft and fluffy. Towels are fresh and plentiful and the dishwasher got run for us every day.
They gave us two nights discounted and one night free for our troubles. We would give them another try before writing them off for all of our wacky issues as we feel it was probably teething issues as the renovation is still going on.
The staff are the best service people I have dealt with in a while...who ever does the morale training for Marriott needs to patent it as it is really working.
It is wonderful having a fully functioning kitchen with brand new full size appliances. It is so close to the 43 and it has a great Pick and Save near by. It is also a two mile drive from the newly renovated Bayshore mall that rivals Santana Row in San Jose, Calfornia in it's appeal.

I like the staff here a lot. They were super helpful and friend. Breakfast was very good too. The waitresses were very nice too.

It was interesting to see the similarities with the other Residence Inn that I stay at in LA. The furniture for the most part is the same with the fixtures in the kitchen and bathroom. The other really nice thing about this place is that you get to use the LA Fitness club for 3 days when you stay here.

However, the rest of the stuff seemed a little dated. They have a pool as well but was shut down for the winter.
