3 reviews for Residence Inn by Marriott-Herndon
The Herndon Marriott Residence Inn is well-furnished, with plenty of lighting, air conditioning, a soft bed[1], a flat-screen TV (with basic cable), a full bath, and kitchen with fridge. Conveniently near several shopping centers (with a Five Guys, one random Thai restaurant, and a supermarket), there's also an on-site swimming pool, and breakfast and dinner are provided daily (probably worth it if you don't have time to drive anywhere; breakfast isn't bad).
I'd return only if (1) an employer would pay for me or if (2) I had a ton of Marriott points, as their rates are appropriately high for the area.
[1] If you ever end up in the dog house, the couches are really quite comfortable, and there are extra comforters in the closet to stay warm.

It's a nice hotel, for long stays. After a while the staff recognises me. No clue about breakfast, i go there because they have a kitchen and i can have my breakfast on m own.
There is a cute courtyard between buildings with nice landscape, and that is really appreciated (from me anyway). Not close to highway so not much noise either.
Edit : the first floor rooms suck. You can hear your upstairs neighbour as if you had you ear against the floor

Part 1 of 2: Extended-Stay hotels vs. Check-in-and-Check-Out.
After months at a regular hotel, I tried an extended stay hotel. Lemme just say that not checking out is pretty convenient. Other things that are worth mentioning is the kitchenette. I didn't know how important a fridge was. Being able to do a simple load of laundry is also underrated.
Part 2 of 2: This particular hotel.
It's well run. Things are clean. Things get done. The staff is friendly and will recognize you, if you go to the included meals.
I don't go to the meals. I want anonymity. I didn't realize how much I really disliked sharing hallways, elevators and lobbies with hundreds of randomized people. This place is split amongst multiple buildings and you hardly see anyone, so you get the "...I live in a house by myself" feel.
These guys also wisely decided to give us a membership to a real gym, Gold's, across the street. This is a lot better than a hotel-run gym.
And I guess I'm a couch potato, because I love how many cable channels I get here vs. a regular hotel.
