Residence Inn by Marriott-Cottonwood
7 reviews for Residence Inn by Marriott-Cottonwood
Very, very, very standard and boring. It gets the job done as a place to sleep, and that's about it. The included hot breakfast and occasional "manager's events" like bbqs and happy hours are a nice touch, as is the pool. However, the rooms themselves just barely pass the adequacy test...with the exception of the shower which has great water pressure. I love good water pressure.
This is a hotel of convenience for skiers of cottonwood canyon, and even for park city (just 30 min away). It's also about 2 feet from the client I had traveled to see on business, so that was cool. But overall, nothing special at all. And at $159/night for a normal room, I was really glad this was on the company's tab, otherwise I might have felt offended, especially given it was off season (late may/early june).
Perhaps Fergie can write an ode to the Residence Inn-Cottonwood titled "My Lumps." This would accurately convey what it's like to sleep in a bed at this hotel, where the scratchy sheets feel like they're stretched tight across a mattress adorned with clumps and bulges in the most uncomfortable of places.
The hot breakfast with eggs, potatoes, bacon, and sausage compensated for the bed somewhat, but the empty salsa jar made me sad. Next time I will make sure to reserve far, far in advance so I can return to my Salt Lake hotel BFF, the Marriott City Center.

Fairly nice hotel. The prices are fairly reasonable, depending on the type of room you get and the time of year you're traveling. I've stayed here twice and my rooms haven't been all that great. The first one had a very noisy heating system that made it impossible to sleep. The second time around, my room had a smell similar to that of a convalescence home...Don't get me wrong, I love grandma and grandpa...but the smell of fragrance free detergent and mothballs isn't for me.
Oh, and one more thing...be careful throwing the light switches...they tend to zap you every now and then.
Despite all this, the large room size and the fact that you get a full kitchen is really appealing to me. So I give this place three stars.

We stayed here for a wedding and were pleasantly surprised by the quality. We paid $99 a night, and I don't know how that compares to other places. But the free hot breakfast (eggs, sausage, waffles, potatoes, oatmeal, toast, fruit, yogurt, etc.) on the weekend saved us time and money. Free wireless was nice too. There were barbecue pits and a fire pit by the pool. The rooms were nice--not fancy, but nice.

I think this is a standard Residence Inn. Nothing "special", nothing bad.

A great hotel for ski trips to the Cottonwood Canyons (less than half an hour to Snowbird when the roads are clear). All of the standard Residence Inn features are here (nice big rooms, breakfast, internet access, a small kitchen, etc) and at a reasonable price.
nice rooms and OK breakfast. It's true that it is close to the slopes but the price is too much for what you are getting compared to other places (see my other review for slat lake city). Drive another 1 min west on I-215 and check in to Candlewood Suites. You won't be disappointed.
