1 review for Residence Inn by Marriott-Carmel Mountain
Perfectly ordinary Residence Inn. The company was paying, so can't judge on price - the sign on the door said the "rack rate" was $399 a night but the other residents said they were paying $169 or so. Many of them are living there while they try to rebuild after the big fire of 2007.
Our room had a fireplace, balcony, kitchenette, hide-a-bed sofa for the kids, and a regular bed for us. Nice feature: sliding doors to keep the noise of "Nick Jr." on the other side of the room, so we could have some quiet and privacy. Another nice feature: table-with-firepit near the pool, where groups could hang out together.
Not so nice: the management seemed helpless to handle the noise and general unruly behavior of one group of guests, a high school sports team.
Breakfast is Residence-Inn typical: long wait for the waffle iron, OJ that's watery on top and clotted on the bottom, canned fruit and individual yogurts. Steam trays full of eggs and pancakes. One day they did eggs, salsa, rice ... but no beans. We never saw any bacon or sausage. These people don't like protein, I guess.
The location is good, lots of stuff within walkable distance (although people don't walk in this city). Yelp gave good reviews to two restaurants practically in the same parking lot. BevMo is here too, so you can get some wine to drink near your fireplace, or on your patio.
