Review from Scott L.
Purcellville, VA
Good find, dog friendly, reasonably priced. Location is good, off one of the main roads. Staff I encountered were helpful and friendly. Wifi was reliable and easy to connect. Pool area was clean and warm along with the pool water. Might be a saltwater pool, tasted salty, not of chlorine, but I am not sure on that. Dog fee was $75 per stay, reasonable for our 4-5 day stay but might be tough to swallow for one night. Breakfast (free) had a good selection, waffle station, fruits, cereal, bagels/ doughnuts, juice, milk etc. K9 posse has some grass around the buildings to do their business (please pick up after your master! Or no hotels will allow dogs much longer!). You won't be playing ball though with Fido, or Gina in my case, as the areas are small, hilly and tree lined. There is a trail along the river(5 min by car) to take long walks. Trail/park also has playground, picnic areas and a bicycle track!
The negatives: TV was small, old school(not flat) and no swivel. Smelled like an old Holiday Inn, could be comforting depending on your childhood vacation memories? It didn't smell "good" like a Westin either though. Heating/ac was loud and powerful, like being in a wind tunnel. This seems to be a fact of life at hotels anymore I guess. No dresser, 2 nightstands and a small 2 drawer stand the TV was on. Only the main entrance didn't seem creepy. Side and back doors are kinda dark in the trees and the outside stairs have brick wall railings....ANYBODY could be lurking behind there! I didn't let my wife go to the car or walk the dogs after dark. Not because it is a sketchy area anything but hotels are crime magnets and I might be paranoid. Enjoy Asheville! -

Loved the tempur-pedic mattress and breakfast every day.
Hated waking up to the train blowing it's horn over and over and over again all night.
Free internet was super easy and trouble-free. -

Stayed here for two nights while in Asheville for a wedding. For a total of $250, we got a queen suite which was pretty huge, with a microwave, a full sized fridge and a stove. The bed was a tempur-pedic, which actually hurt my back, but I'm sure would be a nice draw for some guests.
They offer free parking, and a free continental breakfast. Internet was free but occasionally spotty. Staff was pleasant. Room was a little out-of date, but clean. -

I'll admit it's been a few years since I've stayed here, but back when I worked for a previous employer, I would go out to Asheville several times a year. This is where I usually stayed, sometimes for weeks at a time. I tried a few other places, and I found this to be the best value.
The service was always good, the rooms usually very clean. The rooms I would get were basically studio apartments, with a full fridge, stove, dishwasher, and dining area. I believe the prices were in the $85 a night range, which is pretty good for all that.
The few issues I have had:
- The continental breakfast they serve is inedibly disgusting. The worst I've had at any hotel. The powdered eggs and sausage patties will make you ill for the remainder of the day. The apple basket had rotten apples in it about half the time. Either eat elsewhere or stick to the boxed cereal.
- If you stay here in the spring or summer, do not stay on the bottom floor. I was warned by several coworkers about this, and eventually experienced it myself - Junebugs. Crawling on the TV, the light, your cheek while you try to sleep.
Both these things seem pretty bad, and I've dinged them a star or two for it, but if you know the rules (avoid the food, get a room on the higher floors), then you will actually have a very good experience here. That is what I usually did, and I never had a bad experience when I did. -

I'm checked in for 3-4 months. I have a full- sized fridge, full stove/oven, microwave, and dishwasher. Several lightbulbs are missing. Can't get the gas fireplace to work. The sliding doors on the closets really suck. The fitness room is woefully inadequate. But nevertheless, housekeeping was good today. There is a goos-sized pool. And I have room to stretch out. Seems to be the best option for an extended stay in Asheville I got a good deal on the rate. Megan in catering is awesome. Life is good.
