Residence Inn exceeded my expectation in terms of how every staff was, facilities, room and location.
So many nice restaurants/bars are just around the corner and you get free breakfast every morning if you don't want to cook or eat out. Breakfast didn't have omelet bar but offered pretty much all the basic items like yogurt, milk, pastries, bread, potato, fruits, oatmeal, cereals and waffle. Only scrambled egg for egg-dish.
From mon till thurs, there is evening snack time from 5:30 till 7pm for some appetizer and wine.
Front desk and all the staff at hotel are very attentive and friendly.
Room was spacious and new (might be renovated?). Flat screen TV was in both living room and bedroom.
If you are a gym-snob, You will be happy at Residence Inn. There is a big gym with various new work-out equipments and whirpool as well as swimming pool.
I had very pleasant stay and will definitely stay here if I visit Austin again.
PS: They put a small thank you card with a starbucks coupon for any drink underneath your door on the last day of your stay. How nice!! -

When we can't get a room at Extended Stay America on 6th and Guadalupe...this is our second choice place to stay. Hotels in Austin are expensive and there really is a scarcity of them west of the interstate that are truly worth the bang for your buck. I usually can get a room here on average of 120 to 130 bucks a night but that cost adds up esp if you valet or even park your car in their garage yourself. They are pretty blunt about their overnight guest and non party policy and I definitely saw it in full effect coming home from the bars one night when they had security guards and velvet ropes at the entrance! W o W! I believe you can have a max of two non registered guests come up but I'm sure they become hard ass about not letting anyone with a guest key card in esp when the 6th street drunks start roaming all over the place outside like it's zombieland. When you book a reservation, request a high floor because the low floors suck...we even stayed on the 2nd floor once and our window seriously went out to the floor of the small balcony of the pool...it way to voyeuristic for us and kept the shades closed the whole time. Also, some residents will have pets and although I love dogs, I don't love them that much that they annoy the hell out of me with their barking when I'm at a hotel! They do get plus points for their gym which was way more ampe than some other places I've stayed at, but their pool SUCKED! It was indoorsy and small...it was a big kiddie pool. Would definitely have liked it more if it was jutted out more into the outdoor balcony area. Rooms are spacious and love that they do have a kitchenette area with microwave, stovetop and fridge although we never ever cook anything...why would you when you have Austin right there! But it is a pretty good place to stay at esp if you are staying overnight in town...just give yourself plenty of time to make a reservation and look out for a good rate...

SLEEP ALERT***SLEEP ALERT***SLEEP ALERT***
Not that the hotel has any control over this, BUT- if you pick "City View" on your check in, this also means "LOUD ASS THUMPING BASS FROM BAR ACROSS THE STREET" view. I wish someone had yelped this before we bought the room for $189- per night. (Plus 21.00 parking)
If you plan to sleep before 2am, please please PLEASE get a room on the SOUTH side of the building. The staff was well aware of the problem and offered ear plugs to help.
I'm writing this review at 1am- only ONE hour to go.... -

My friend and I stayed here for a night on our weekend in Austin.
Pros:
-easy to find
-check-in was quick and easy
-receptionist was very helpful and suggested some places for dinner
-room was clean
-walking distance to everything in downtown
Cons:
-normally $180/night if we hadn't used points
-garage parking is $21/day
-had to wait 10 min for our room since it wasn't ready around 4pm -

My Fraternity folks ( honor fraternity, thanks) invaded the downtown Marriott last night.
By 11 they were already told to be quiet by the hotel personnel, given a warning, apparently if given three warnings you are kicked out? And these people were talking, not throwing wild parties.
The place is really pretty. But here pretty= pricey. Prolly because of the suite accommodations or direct proximity to downtown or restaurant ( Champions sports bar) attached to the building. And for all of those reasons, I'm sure this place would be a great choice.
However. When I am 23 and staying with 30 of my friends in an ass expensive hotel, ( 20 dollars parking per day!!!) Puh-lease do not give me a warning when I am talking in my own ( well my friends ) room.
We ended up freezing our asses off on the 12th story roof cause there was nowhere else we could go to talk ( and drink.)
Arghh to hotel personnel and party spoilers. -

Stayed at the Residence Inn in Downtown Austin as part of my friend's bachelor party. We had a 2-room suite. Amenities are great, but one of the bedrooms was incredibly small. They had a queen in it, centered, but to get around to the window-side if the bed, the walkway around the bed was literally 18 inches. An LCD tv that was set into the wall helped a little... i don't know where they would've put an old Tube TV.
We got a noise complaint from someone, and security came and made us pipe-down... but what do you expect, it was a bachelor party at 3am.
Indoor pool and jacuzzi was nice. The gym was pretty big and had plenty of equipment... though I didn't touch it. Its a quick 3 minute walk to the 6th street bar scene, and the lobby (which connects with the Courtyard Marriott), is connected to a Sports Bar and Grill. Complimentary breakfast of runny scrambled eggs, sausage, fruit, and a Belgian waffle machine.
Front desk was very very helpful in letting us know where the fun bars are, where to eat, best ways to get around, and went out of their way to get us extra thick plastic laundry bags for us to haul away any half-drank bottles of tequila and jack daniels. -

Moved to town Feb 1 in a RUSH... My California-based manager, perhaps feeling badly - or perhaps suggesting I do what she would do in my shoes - said to stay at the Four Seasons for a couple weeks until my belongings could arrive and I could find something more permanent. Are you kidding me??? The Four Seasons??? Unfortunately there wasn't continuous availability for the dates I needed - so I ended up at the illustrious Residence Inn - Downtown. :-( Nuff said...
While trading off the quiet elegance of a Four Seasons for a uniquely Marriott experience and decor - I did have a very large room with a killer downtown view. The room was, in fairness, VERY practical - which I suppose is the franchise's intent... But for the rest of us, there was NO room service (agh!), a purely functional bathroom (no additional comforts even attempted), and a kitchenette (I don't even cook at home)... Did I mention there was no room service..?
The staff stands out and made me feel very welcome... I must have been greeted by name 3-4 times each time as I came and went... a bit overwhelming - but for this new Austin transplant, it was comforting...
For all the above I concede I was a (pink) square peg placed in a round hole - and this wasn't a hotel built for my kind of traveling... but for those it is built for - I'm sure the Austin Downtown Residence Marriott is a great place... -

My boyfriend came into town to "rescue" me from Austin. He's a Marriott employee and got an awesome discount. The room was like $25 or something silly like that. So, heck yes!
It was very nicely accommodated for the extended stay...but we were only there for a night, so we had no use for all of the stuff they provided.
What we NEEDED was a shower. My boyfriend had driven 15 hours and wanted a hot shower before napping. Well, apparently there was no hot water. In a hotel? WTF? When I got there, he called the front desk and they said they'd send someone up and if they couldn't fix it, they'd put us in another room.
So this bro comes up and just turns on all the faucets, letting them run. With a heavy accent, he says, "You jess gotta let it run. It will get hot." So all the water is being WASTED at an incredible rate and it's still cold. He explained that since there were so few people using the hot water, it was taking longer for it to get to temp. Oh...alright...
The cable didn't work, nor did the free internet on the tv. Lame. Luckily, I just wanted to be out showing my boyfriend how awesome Austin is. The bed was so great to come back to. :D -

Fine Residence Inn. I have stayed in both the studio and one bedroom suites--either are roomy.
The included free breakfast if OK (tho keep in mind scrambled eggs taste obviously powdered). Very good workout room and indoor pool. Friendly staff. Great downtown locale that is attached to a Courtyard Inn, Champions Restaurant and Starbucks.
But, $16/night parking--Austin. Not so much. -

This was a perfectly fine (= clean) hotel, but it wasn't perfect enough that I think I'd be happy if I had paid full price (I actually got it on Priceline for about $100 cheaper a night -- presumably because it is normally an extended stay hotel and I was booking for only 2 days that they otherwise wouldn't have had filled. Not sure if this affected my service; I kind of doubt it.)...
Location -- it's close to Things in downtown Austin (meaning namely the 6th Street bars). That means loud drunks come back at godawful hours and wake you up just by going down the hallway -- unless you're still out partying yourself, or so drunk you don't care.
Walls -- on that point, the walls are thin. My next-door neighbor had a yappy dog (a very yappy dog). The drunks woke me up at 2:30. Children were scream-y. I didn't hear anything more.. interesting.. but I suspect I would have if one of my neighbors had gotten lucky (and vice versa).
Cleanliness -- it's very clean. Some furniture a bit shabby.
Shower -- the showerhead was super crappy (needed to be replaced), and I actually don't think the water heater is quite large enough for the entire hotel -- sometimes the hot was hot, and sometimes it wasn't anywhere close.
Front desk service -- wonderful in person (they know what to say and how to behave, check-in and check-out were super easy), but maybe a bit flaky on follow through(?) (asked for a TV channel guide since there wasn't one in my room, and was told they'd put a photocopied one under the door -- it didn't come before I checked out).
Breakfast -- more than continental, for free, but it's the same wet fake eggs and quasi-stale hash browns you get in school cafeterias. No better or worse than can be expected.
Internet -- BLAZINGLY fast, even wirelessly. The hotel almost gets an extra star just for that. -

Service doesn't get any better than this. A friend of mine booked this room with points. Was supposed to be a suite but they mistakenly put us in the Courtyard in a tiny room. So she called and they moved us to a suite. So we go to the suite and it's really not a suite so friend calls again and for all our troubles we get moved into the master suite of all suites. SWEET!!!!!!!

Wowzers....were literally a few blocks from 6th street, oh yeah! Hotel Breakfast buffet & cocktail hour with a Starbucks onsite make this a location a perfect place for anyone visiting the city of Austin. Accommodations do include a fridge & kitchenette which makes the Residence Inn a little more on the pricey side in terms of hotels around the city. Parking is $21/day with full in & out privileges to the parking garage. The Residence Inn-Austin is very comfortable, modern and spacious. I was here for work purposes but planning on returning back to Austin to watch a Longhorns game and will definitely staying @ the Residence Inn on the next trip out with friends.

I stayed here during the Austin City Limits Festival last year- what a lovely hotel, and so convenient because it was a five minute walk to the shuttles. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. They have nice little kitchenettes too. The free WiFi was a big bonus to have in the room. The staff is friendly. The continental breakfast was one of the best hotel continental breakfasts I've ever had. I'd definitely want to stay here again.

This place is amazing! The staff is very friendly and helpful.
The place is so modern and clean. Close to all restaurants and party central in downtown Austin. Great service!!! The breakfast is better than the regular waffle breakfast offered at other places. They have a full service breakfast for free for all guests. I am coming back to Austin and planning to stay at this place. I had an early check in without an extra charge. Next yr. I'm celebrating my 40th bday and having my guests staying at this place. Will never look for another place. If its not broken I will not fix it! -

Austin, TX
My family stayed here and from the consistently cheerful guest relations staff to the cleanliness of the rooms to the complimentary breakfast and workout room, this was an excellent stay. I highly recommend them for travelers or Austinites who just want a night in a hotel. The staff did a great job of welcoming us and going out of their way to help us find what we needed and even set us up at another Residence Inn to watch football at their lounge.
