First things first, I have never had a smoother or more enjoyable apartment hunting experience in my entire life (and I am coming from 11 years of NYC's cut-throat real estate adventures). I decided to look at Rent Here Realty's listings in the first place due to the amazing Yelp reviews.
After emailing back and forth with one agent who's sense of urgency was not in line with mine, I had the serendipitous experience of talking to the individual who made the entire relocation process from NYC to Chicago amazing . . . Chardonnee Cunningham!
Finding an apartment is typically never an easy experience, so add on a few of these little gifts (feel the pressure): 1.) relocating halfway across the country during the holidays; 2.) only having a three week lead time before actually having to move; 3.) only getting a two-day, one night relocation trip from your company; 4.) having two small dogs in the mix; and 4.) needing to have everything wrapped up before boarding the plane back to the Big Apple, COMPLETED. No Big Deal!
Chardonnee jumped right in and immediately crafted a thorough and organized game plan for making sure that everything was set and ready. She listened to what I was looking for and promptly sent me a series of listings. She was great at being available to talk on the phone or getting back to me via email; again, I only had a very limited lead time, so communication and organization were key. The day I arrived, she had 8 appointment times set-up and confirmed. We whisked through the city, eventually having the unheard of problem in my book, "what apartment do I choose, I LOVE TWO OF THEM?"
Not only did I find an amazing apartment, Chardonnee was able to negotiate the rent for me, close the deal and get it done in record time. Color me impressed! I got all of my paperwork and checks to her and one of RHR's assistants, Brittany, had everything back to me to be signed by the evening.
So with all of that said, this has been one of the best apartment hunting adventures EVER. I highly recommend going with Rent Here Realty, and if you do, ask for Chardonnee. The next time I need to find an apartment in the city, she will be the first person I contact. -

Due to a million crazy circumstances that you don't need to know about, we got caught in a major pinch, needing to find a rental to move to. We ended up in the lap of Rent Here Realty by happenstance, not necessarily by seeking them out.
Enter severe restriction #1: 105 lb. dog, German Shepherd.
#2? Said dog haaates people and scares the pants off them with her bark.
#3? She barks a lot in general.
#4? We have to move in less than 10 days.
Now before you tell me to go get my dog some training or get rid of her, pause and remember the point of this review is about Rent Here Realty.
Our goal was to find a single family to rent. What came as a surprise in this down real estate market was that there were hardly any single family homes for rent so yeah, that made things even harder for us. We were all over Craigslist and had several other people/brokers/anybody trying to help. I called on an ad and got Josh, who immediately showed us a place, less than a half hour later, at 6:30 pm that day. That was great, but the place wasn't.
Josh found us the single family we got. It's not perfect, it's not ideal, not the greatest location but it isn't falling down, isn't filthy gross, isn't mold-ridden and does function well enough. Josh said he isn't big on the pushy hard sell, but yeah, he kind of is -- and that's fine, he's just doing his job and it was forgivable. Don't get me wrong, he's a nice guy and was willing to help us out. I'm very adverse to being pushed in general, especially when I'm not pleased with the overall scenario we were dealing with.
I'd say more towards 3.5 stars as the after-care kind of left a bit to be desired. We ended up getting the full lowdown on the property from another website by doing an address search; Rent Here left out a lot of information that was pertinent. After Josh did his close on us, we were shuffled over to another person, then another person, both of whom handled the rest and is where the attentiveness level dropped off. They were nice enough and did get the job done, but clearly they are a very busy company so it was a bit tough to get follow-up out of them.
In the end, it all worked out, we really lucked out and are all moved in to our temporary shoe box. For someone who has far fewer restrictions, these guys are probably a breeze. For folks like us with a lot of restrictions, they were able to help, so I'd say give them a whirl. -

After reading all the reviews, I called this place to set up an appt. 4 days went by before I got a response, and when I did get a response, the agent was very apologetic and explained their email server doesn't work very well so email bounces back constantly.
I met w/ the agent and was very impressed. I thought I had a winner for sure and felt confident that my unit would get rented very quickly.
After I met w/ the agent, there was no communication for 2 days. On the 3rd day I followed up and found out there had been a family accident w/ the agent, so I felt horrible for following up. Still no word and then coincidentally, I bumped into my neighbors, who had used an agency to move into my bldg.
I asked them what agencies they thought were the best and they said, "whatever you do, don't use Rent Here Now." They went on to account their experience and when I asked who their agent was, you guessed it, the same one I had.
By the 4th day, I decided I was going to have to find another agent and the manager of the company called. I explained I was going to terminate the agreement and explained why. He was great and thanked me for the feedback. I then followed up w/ an email asking to terminate my agreement and to confirm this action via email.
Guess what? Of course, no response. The first 2 emails came back (bounced server) and then the ones that DID go thru didn't get a response. After 21 days the server "times out."
I can't really use an agency that doesn't have email capabilities -- I use my phone/email as a primary method of communication.
Non-professional experience here. Maybe others have had better luck. -

I've got a condo in Andersonville which I had listed with two realtors. First I had it for sale for 9 months; very frustrating! After no good offers I decided to try to rent instead. I first listed my property exclusively for 60 days with a larger Real Estate company and I only had 3 showings over three weeks. That seemed like very few showings and I got the Realtor to break my agreement.
It was then recommended to me that I try to rent it on Craigslist. It took me a while but I managed to put up something fairly decent. A few days into my ad running on the CL, I received a call from a listing agent asking me if I wanted to work with her company to rent my property. I was hesitant until I found out that I could list my property on a non-exclusive basis. If I rented my place I would not be obligated to her company. I highly recommend this method.
My experience with my first realtor was not horrible but I was just not their first priority. When I put my property for rent with at Rent Here Realty, felt like there was a lot of attention to getting my place rented QUICKLY. An hour after I met with Carolyn I received a call from her asking me to review the listing online to make sure I was happy with the way it read. I checked their website and was very happy with the way my property was advertised. It was tasteful, accurate and the photos were very nice. I thanked Carolyn for getting this moving so quickly and was impressed that I was able to review things before my listing went out to the public.
Two days later, I received a call from Carolyn asking my permission to show my condo on both Saturday and Sunday! BAMM, just like that, they got things rolling. She wanted to make sure she was not disturbing me as the showings were both between 9 and 10 am. UMM, not at all... please SHOW MY PLACE. Later that Sunday I received an application from one of the couples that had seen the condo earlier... SO SMOOTH!
Very impressed by how well this was all managed and am thrilled with the couple that has been found for me. I only wish I had known about Rent Here three months ago. Things are really tough all around right now. I was covering two mortgages and I am very grateful that another month did not go by without a renter. I would highly recommend this service. -

My boyfriend and I aren't yet sure whether we're moving to Chicago or not, but we figured it was worth the time to look at some apartments just to see what we would be dealing with. We talked to Brad at Rent Here Realty and he was totally understanding of our situation and gave us tons of information over the phone. When we came to visit a week later, he spent half a day showing us more than a half dozen apartments and even took some time out for us to get lunch!
He didn't just show us apartments, either, but took extra care to explain to us the public transportation system and point out really good restaurants and stuff like that. Brad and everyone we met at the Wicker Park office was really friendly and helpful, and if we do end up moving back to Chicago we will definitely get our apartment though Rent Here. -

My fiance and I had a great experience at Rent Here. We came on a Wednesday, which I think was a really good choice - it wasn't very busy.
We worked with Tyler, who jumped in and took us out as the girl we had made our appointment with was no longer with the company. Tyler was so helpful, especially since he took over at the last minute. He even asked us what music we liked to listen to when we got in his car to go look at properties. :)
I have to admit, I am often cautious about rental agencies. I've worked with Apartment People before, and I felt it was a bit rushed and a bit pressured. I was worried coming here we'd be pressured to sign something. But, Tyler was great. We saw some mediocre places, and he did not ever try to "sell" them to us. He just kept saying, "let's find you a place that is better." So awesome. We saw 3 units that afternoon, and the third was the winner for us. But, Tyler let us leave, and we ended up talking it over as a couple and coming back later in the evening, after we were convinced we were making the right decision. So, thanks to Tyler and Rent Here Realty for helping us find our very first place :) This was a truly quality listing, and we are lucky to now call it ours! -

I have always scoffed at the idea of using a rental agency. But my sister is moving to town, and frankly I didn't have the time to do all of the leg work it takes to find a great apartment for a good price.
I found Rent Here Realty online, called and scheduled an appointment.
At the office, I was warmly greeted by a beautiful receptionist that I later learned was the owner! I ultimately worked with Patricia, who was friendly and outgoing. Because the apartment is for my sister, Patricia offered me a lot of insight into things a woman would consider that I might not have bothered with for myself (lighting in the bathroom is important, guys)!
She was cool with me taking tons of photos, and even calling my sister to talk to her.
Bottom line is I found a really cool apartment for my sis, in a good neighborhood, with a ton of amenities, and I am off the hook!
If I rent again in Chicago, I will call them again. -

I really am not a person who typically uses and apt rental service -and usually try and find and search for apts on my own through craigslist - as I know the city, and its various neighbodhoods VERY well.
The apartment I was wanting to look at was being show through Rent Here, however, so I sent Patrick (an agent) an email about it. He immediately emailed me back AND gave me a phone call, and we were able to schedule showings immediately. I also worked with Samantha who helped to process all my paperwork, and she was fabulous as well. What I can say, is that this company is attentive, they call you back, and really try and make the arduous process of moving/renting as quick and painless for you as possible. It was so refreshing. Patrick and Samantha really helped to make a less-than-ideal moving situation for me, that much easier. I will use them, without hesitation, again. -

This has to be one of the best rental agencies I've ever used. And I've now used four different ones after moving four times in this city. The staff is very personable, all get along and they aren't the type of rental agency that tries to sell you on a place just so they can make a commission. They take their time to tell you whats available and then they show you whats out there.
I found the agent that we dealt with Lindsey to be very attentive to our needs in a new apt which would be our new home. She stayed within the price range and requests and showed us some great possibillities. We ended up choosing a place that she recommended and I couldn't be happier.
I can't say it enough how I really believe great customer service goes a long way! When you spend a day and a half searching for places it makes all the difference when the people you are working with are friendly and helpful. I would recommend this agency to anyone looking for an apartment in Chicago. -

My boyfriend (Joseph S.) and I have been together for nearly 8 years...it was time to move in together. We worked with Chris who took into consideration our needs (most importantly the need to bring my elderly beagle with us), kept in contact, and was extremely knowlegdable. He found us an apartment in Lincoln Park that was bigger than what we hoped, for less than we were willing to pay. And that, my friends, is how you get 5 stars.
And in the end the boyfriend was upgraded to the live-in. -

I am in the process of looking for an apartment in Chicago--Lori Mills showed me all around Chicago on Saturday and is making my life a lot easier!!! I am from out of town and Lori did not hesitate to be honest with me about Chicago. Even before I came to Chicago, Lori sent me numerous options via e-mail and called me a few times to really get a good idea of what I want. If I email her to ask her questions (which is about every five minutes), Lori is very prompt.
I would recommend RentHere to anyone and especially to those from out of town as they clearly have experience with this!
When you contact an agent to find you the best place possible, you want to do as little work as possible. Lori and RentHere does this for me. -

Myself and my girlfriend visited and worked with Rent Here Realty last weekend and Lindsey our agent did a great job helping us find our new place. Everyone knows that Wicker Park and Bucktown are popular, and the area offers a wide array of quality and price. Sure we could have gone back and forth with Craigslist, but we thought: why bother when you can cut to the chase and see the good stuff fast?
Lindsey and the team were responsive, helpful and well-versed in the neighborhood. Instead of spinning our wheels, seeing dumps and out of price-range locations, Lindsey and Rent Here helped us to view exactly what were interested in and ultimately what we needed.
We found an exceptional place and I thank them for it! -

Purchasing/renting a home is far most one of the worst task a young adult must go through. Finding the cheapest rate, best location, are utilities included, credit checks, etc etc... I've looked through many websites and did lots of homework on exactly what i wanted. I replied to a posting for Rent Here Realty and spoke to Alfie Capusi who was by far the most helpful agent i've came across on my hunt for a new home. He was a very courteous easy going gentleman who made me feel i was being helped and not taken advantage of like many agents out there trying to earn a buck. I am completely satisfied doing business through Mr. Capusi and will definitely recommend him to others.

My experience with Jerome at Rent Here Realty was great. From the start, he sent me many options, and tried to find the best available apartments within my "somewhat" detailed requirements. :)
Jerome was very familiar with Lincoln Square (my neighborhood of choice) and did not try to talk me out of the area to live somewhere less expensive. We looked for an afternoon, and by the end of the day my apartment search was over!
When visiting the agency to complete the application, the surroundings were hip and comfy at the same time. There was a very personal feel from start to finish, and I would recommend "Rent Here Realty" and Jerome to anyone who is searching for the impossibly perfect place! -

After looking through countless craigslist ads and meeting with so-so apartment agents, I contacted RentHere about a listing I saw on craigslist. I immediately received a phone call from Tim (aka TC) who asked specifics about my criteria then immediately sent me various options within my price range. When I met with TC he was very professional and friendly. There was no pressure whatsoever to rent an apartment "immediately" and he had a great amount of knowledge about the neighborhoods and from what I saw a great rapport with many of the building managers. He was such a great help in communicating to the rental agency and I ended up finding the perfect place without the gimmicks that go along with some of the larger rental agencies in Chicago.l highly recommend this agency and especially Tim!

Imagine making a dinner reservation, arriving at the restaurant and being told, "Sorry, folks. The chefs didn't feel like showing up tonight. Can we have a do-over? Same time tomorrow?"
That's exactly what just happened to me at Rent Here Realty. I made an appointment with an agent who didn't show up. After 30 minutes, I was told there was no one else who could help me, so I should go home and try again the next day.
Probably one of my all-time worst experiences with any business in Chicago. One star feels generous.

I came back the next day and had a good experience with an agent named Jerome, who showed us a good selection of apartments and was a pleasure to work with. Not enough to erase the first awful experience, but they redeemed themselves a little. The owner also called to apologize, which I appreciated.
The lesson? Ask for Jerome, I guess. -

I found my current apartment through Rent Here Realty, and it was a really easy process and I found something I am really happy with. I got in contact with Ken at RHR through a listing that was on Craigslist, and after not liking that one in person, I went to the RHR website and picked out a few others that looked good and asked Ken to show me those as well. He was perfectly friendly, as were all of the other people I encountered at their office. Ken was really salesie about trying to get us to rent whatever we saw right away, which is to be expected, so I can see being pressured into getting something you might not be totally happy with, but as long as you know what you want and stick to your guns, you should be fine.

Cody at RHR is the absolute best. After having a horrific experience at Apartment Saavy, I was so refreshed at all the apartments he took my roomie and I to look at. He literally picked out exactly what we were looking for. We are still in the search for our perfect place, but I know it will be with Cody!!! So friendly and knowledgeable, RHR should be stoked to have him on their team :)

So I finally outgrew my noisy neighbors and crumbling ceiling in my lovely Logan Square apartment. I decided the area I wanted to move in was around Bucktown - closer to friends, work, etc. I started off going to listings I found of Craigslist but after the first 3 apartment showings with 10 other people, I figured this wasn't the way to find a place.
After scouring the internet for an apartment finding service, I stumbled upon Rent Here Realty. I sent in my application which entailed what area I wanted, my price range and any other requests I might of had. I got a phone call the same day and set up an appointment, bright and early on a Saturday.
I biked to the conveniently located office and met with agent Susan. The whole office was really nice and I felt at ease with the laid back environment. The best thing is that they drive you around which allowed me to see more apartments. Most of the apartments that we saw in my price range were iffy so Susan suggested a place that had just opened up which was a little higher priced. She assured me I would not be disappointed and that it would be better than what we had seen earlier. I hesitantly agreed and we went and looked at it. Fabulous. I never felt pressured to make a decision and after extensively inspecting the apartment, asking questions I had easily made my decision.
After arriving back at the office I put in my paperwork and Carolyn helped me as well. I am happy to say that I got the apartment and am grateful that I was shown it. I also have to say that Susan was great with all the emails I sent her even after the fact and she assured me of any concerns I had.
If and when I move again, I will definitely be back to use this wonderful agency! -

A few years back when I first moved to Chicago I used another apartment finding service and honestly I did find some OK places. But, in retrospect, the problem with these rental services was that I really felt a CRAZY amount of pressure to sign a lease! My experience with Joel at Rent Here was completely different. I didn't feel pressured in the least or feel like he was only after the commission he would receive if I signed. A fantastic experience in comparison to my past experiences in Chicago. If you need to find a great place, ask for Joel!

Tammy is the best! It was quick and painless setting up an appointment. She showed three studios to me at the end of what was a very busy day for her. I ended up falling in love with the last studio and gave her a call the next morning. She emailed me all of the paperwork to expedite the application process and when I met with her to hand it in, the whole thing took about 5 minutes. I was notified the next day that I had been approved. I found and got a place I love in the span of three days! Thanks to Tammy and Rent Here Realty, I have had the easiest time finding a place to live! Not only was it quick, but both Tammy and their office were professional and friendly, which made me feel confident in using their service now and definitely in the future.
