We had a wonderful dinner at Rene. The food and service were all top notch! We started with the perfect Grey Goose Martini with hand stuffed blue cheese olives, along with that we had the escargot appetizer which was cooked to perfection. We also had the mushroom soup and the spinach and wild mushroom salad. The soup was the best mushroom soup ever and the salad was quite nice as well. For entrees, I had the rack of lamb and my BF had the seared scallops, both were quite nice, however the scallops this evening stole the show. I must also mention that they have live music. We enjoyed it so much that we even purchased one of the musician's CD's.
This is a lovely place for dinner and if the weather permits be sure to sit outside for a nice romantic evening.
Lunch on Wednesday July 08 2009.
We waited a few minutes for a table, this was fine as we were not in a hurry. It was indicated it was busy by a cute blond dude. To my evaluation, not so busy.
We were seated and soon after asked if we wanted anything to drink besides water. Meredith and I both opted for coffee.
Our order consisted of:
English Pea Cakes $9
Monte Cristo $10
Tlaquepaque Pasta $12
The cakes were very thin and did not hold together in the transfer to our plates, but the taste was fine. I would say there is a huge profit in this dish.
The Monte Cristo is said to have ham, turkey and Swiss cheese dipped in egg batter, sauté, with fresh fruit and honey. It came as advertised, perhaps. The sandwich looked to be dropped in a fryer rather than a sauté but I could be wrong. I would have preferred the usual raspberry jam as to the honey. The drip of honey is hard to control and looks flat on the plate. uninspired fruit was offered with this dish. I also thin they found pixie bread to make this as it was the tiniest Monte Cristo I have ever seen.
The Pasta was served with the chicken in strips over the noodles. The whole dish was very dry and according to Meredith tasteless. She requested some Romano cheese.
Neither our water or coffee was filled or offered to be filled until we were done with our food.
Meredith told me she has had good meals here and was surprised.

Tlaquepaque is nice, Rene isn't. I remember a really stuffy and dated interior, OK food, extremely slow service, and a way-too-high bill for lunch.
Do yourself a favor and find a picnic lunch and a nice park to eat it in instead....that seems like a much more Sedona-esque thing to do than eating somewhere like this.

Not sure who they think they are - maybe you will like if you are reitred: kinda geared towards days-gone-by sorta theme, although you won't get the service you think it implies!
Lunch was dry crossiant with wierd tasting chicken salad. No bread basket arrived which was promised. server took order & delivered food & bill, otherwise invisable. With such an uppity enviroment, I expected greater service, but got none.
With all the choices in sedona - pick another!!!! Try Secret Garden, Dahl & Diluca's, Picasso's (Awesome pizza, GR8 happy hr), Wildflower's (awesome views, fantastic prices, GR8 picnic take-away!). Maybe if your bill is over $100 you'll get more service here - good luck there!

Located in Tlaquepaque, a plush shopping area where you'll find many interesting crafts, arts, and other neat stores, this was one of three restaurants to eat at. The service is wonderful and the environment peaceful. I didn't like the elevator jazz music, but appreciated the overpriced art apparently for sale there.
The Gazpacho was too watery for me. I did enjoyed the light dessert, some custard like dish with berries on top. The servings were too huge, but, the experience was tranquil and the service typical Sedona musing.
One warning: getting out of that Tlaquepaque parking lot is a serious problem.
What can I say about Rene's at Tlaquepaque, its exquisite. Its fine dining at its best, in one of the most picturesque places in all of Arizona. Tlaquepaque is a wonderful southwestern themed outdoor shopping center, which includes the Los Abrigados Resort. You can enjoy a day of shopping through the ecclectic boutiques, then you must have dinner at Rene's. The attire is resort casual, and in the winter, can be a little more formal due to temperature. There is a decent sized patio if you wish to eat outside, but sitting inside is elegant and sophisticated. The menu has a southwestern flair, with a lot of game offerings, but still with the traditional chicken, beef, and seafood. The appetizers are great, I HIGHLY recommend the baked Brie and the crab cake. For entree, the new york strip is superbly cooked. You cant miss having a least 3-5 of the freshly baked rolls delivered to your table. They are incredible, and if your lucky enough, Francisco will be your attendant. He is the best servers assistant in all of Sedona. For dessert, the banana's foster is perfectly cooked, and the coffee and after drinks can make your dinner last as long as you want. If your celebrating a special occasion or just passing through Sedona, you have to dine at Rene's.

Good place. Little expensive for what you get.
