Spent a recent weekend here with some girlfriends for a getaway, and this hotel fit our bill perfectly.  Right in the middle of downtown Ft. Worth, it was within walking distance of everywhere we wanted to go.  The rate included breakfast which was really yummy.  They even treated us ladies to dessert because it was my birthday.  (No one told them - they happend to spot a gift at our table and asked).  They gave us two adjoining rooms so we could visit back and forth without bothering anyone and supplied us with extra towels because, well face it, 8 women can never have enough towels!  This will be my hotel of choice if another night in Ft. Worth is the plan.

P.S.  This review would have gotten a 5 if a demitasse size cup of coffee had been a little less than $9!

When I travel I typically go for the cheapest hotel possible. Now, don't get me wrong, I don't book a hotel that looks like something out of a horror movie but my belief is a hotel is simply a place to sleep in. I'm completely uninterested in fancy rooms, excellent food, or any other over the top service. I need something within my budget that I can rest my head in. After staying at the Renaissance Worthington Hotel, my strong held belief was questioned.

Two of my dear friends were getting married in Fort Worth and this was the hotel they chose to stay at the night before and after their nuptials. Some other friends and I flew down to Texas to witness the momentous occasion and they wanted to stay there as well. Upon hearing the jawdropping price of $199 per night, I was ready to object but I didn't want to be separated from my buddies plus it was close to the wedding venue and was in a great area in downtown Fort Worth. I gave in.

Driving up to the Worthington makes you feel special. You have the very friendly valet gentlemen open your door and greet you. They did this every time we got the car and we received a nice welcome each time we came back. Of course they want to kiss your ass for tips but they played it off very convincingly. All of the hotel staff was very personable and helpful.

The lobby is huge with a waterfall, colorful carpet, plush seating. Everything an expensive hotel would have. Our room was smaller than I thought a room costing $199 a night would be but the selling point was the bed. It was about two feet off the ground, the mattress was soft and made you feel you were lying on heaven, and the comforter was thick and warm. This had become my dream bed. I was very disappointed to part with it. The room also came equipped with a flat screen television, a radio that was MP3 friendly, internet access (for a fee of course), and a mini-bar.

Aside from the bed the other amenity I fell in love with was the gym. They have cardio equipment, a weight room, free weights, a sauna, a whirlpool, and a pool. This hotel is definitely trying to get me.

While I enjoyed my stay at the Worthington, I don't know if I would stay there again. Not because of experience but because of price. I'm a bit cheap but if you are looking for a luxurious hotel and money is of no object try the Worthington.

I stayed here last week and the place was wonderful. I had a really pleasant stay and will definitely stay here again. We stayed on the 9th floor overlooking downtown. One minor complaint was that there was some spotting on the carpet by the bed, and the bathroom was of less quality than I would have liked, but otherwise it was enjoyable.

The staff definitely makes it worth it though! Fantastic! Will definitely stay here again.

I've been flopping at the Homewood Suites just outside of town for a couple of weeks and decided finally to go for the Worthington. It's a Marriott, how bad can it be?

From the outside the Worthington looks like your typical large hotel. But I have to tell you that the rooms are very well appointed. I was surprised by the quality of the bedding, carpets and drapes. It's got a bit of elegance. The lobby is extra large and spacious. It's a kind of unusual layout. Very high ceilings but it doesn't feel airy. Maybe because of the humidity.

They still charge ten bucks for wired internet as of this writing.

I was pleasantly surprised again, by the menu. Well, not the menu but the food. They had chicken skewers for like 6 bucks, but the flavor was really good. The vegetables that the sea bass sat in were extra flavorful. Big thumbs up for the food. It was one of the first times I think I paid 45 bucks for room service and I actually got a $45 meal.

The rooms are pricy, but I got a corporate rate, so at $170 it was a very good deal for me. I'd say it's a $200 room but not a $250 room.

The service is generous if not a little pesky. They called to see if I got my room service, then they called again after I finished eating to see if I enjoyed my meal. Trying a little too hard there pardner.

You're basically not missing anything in this Marriott which is nicer on the whole in style and quality of food than in your typical big city Marriotts. Good deal.

I haven't stayed at The Worthington, but their Thanksgiving buffets are a family tradition.  Their Thanksgiving buffet is insane!!  If you ever have the chance, I highly recommend it.  It's not just one buffet, but there are ROOMS of tables with food.  I can't begin to describe everything they have spread through the rooms, but it's an incredible experience!  It's pricey, but worth it to splurge on Thanksgiving.

I grew up taking monster road trips with my family, ending a 16 hour day squashed in the car with two brothers to either a camp ground or my dad saying, "look, Tom Bodett kept the light on for us"  (Motel 6).  As a result, I've always had the "does it have a clean bed" philosophy, especially since I don't plan to spend any time in the room.

But the Renaissance Worthington Hotel might just have swayed me to the other side.  There was a beautiful lobby, extremely friendly, helpful staff (thanks for the recommendations of photogenic places within walking distance!), and lovely rooms.  I'm not sure what the thread count on the sheets was, but I enjoyed sliding into the cocoon of comfort.  And the view was wonderful - the room was directly over Main Street, overlooking an early 20th century federal building.

Something tells me the lights at a certain motel chain in Fort Worth might burn out before I visit them again.

We recently stayed here for a weekend because we were in town for TCU graduation. We had a really pleasant stay, and I'd easily stay here again. The 2 rooms I saw (both on the 10th floor) were very spacious, and the beds were comfortable. The hotel is not necessarily the most sightly, but the rooms and interior are far prettier than the exterior. One minor complaint is that the towels are a lower quality than I would expect, but not a huge deal really. We spent some time in the hotel bar, which was fine. It isn't anything trendy like a W bar, but hey - at least there's a bar that stays open past midnight.

Overall, I really can't complain much about our stay here. I would categorize this hotel as great for convenience and quick trips (business, graduations, etc). I wouldn't select this hotel for a vacation (there appeared to be a cute boutique hotel right down the street), but large hotels serve their purpose when you need functionality. The location is fabulous as well - within walking distance are many restaurants (la Madeleine, Mi Cocina, Del Frisco's, Cantina Laredo, PF Chang's, Corner Bakery, an Italian place, etc) and cute stores.

A wonderful hotel that lives up to the Renaissance name.  It is situated at the north end of Sundance Square, near the courthouse.  The views are great,  The room dcor is refined and elegant.  The hotel staff is polite and on the ball.  They have a unique service here - complementary boot/shoe shining.  There is a basket for you to put your shoes in and the shoe guy picks them up and delivers them back in a short time with a nice fresh shine.  Now that is hospitality.  The restaurants are pretty typical for this caliber of hotel - good quality and high priced.  The fitness center is top notch with lots of cardio and weight machines.  They also have a rooftop pool and jacuzzi and an exercise room too.  The conference facilities are very nice.  Splurge a bit and go for the concierge floor.  There is a very nice area where breakfast and evening hors d'oeuvres are served.  There is also an honor bar that is stocked with good quality beer, wine, and liquor.
