I was at this hotel for several days in 2000 for the Atlanta Linux Showcase. I think I'm not alone in remembering it fondly. The enormous atrium lobby with drink service from the bar and lots of nice couches and chairs was a great place for conference goers to hang out and talk. The slow glass elevators gave the conference goers something technical to talk about that wasn't linux (we theorised they were running Windows NT, and crashing a lot). Perhaps a few paper airplanes were launched from the upper levels of the atrium.
The rooms were nothing special, but as a conference hotel, it worked really well.
5/2007 update
Forgot how I love their beds and nice bedding.
Elevators can get slow and since they are clustered together, it is a walk if you are the furthest away from them.
Attended a Shag and West Coast Swing dance competition called the Grand Nationals. http://www.usagrandnat...

Here for the Memorial Weekend in May, it was a nice hotel, I would call it a 3.5 star hotel. The rooms are on the smallish side and the decor was nice, not luxurious. Was with a dance convention so got a convention rate of $87. Some nice amenities, the jelly beans at the front desk, but grossed out when people didn't use the spoon and dug in with their hands. Thought about the movie, "Along Came Polly' and thought about the bowl of bar nuts and the 'hot zone' zone scene. So now I am so conscience of the no hand washing thing and communal food items. They had individually wrapped hard candies in the ladies restroom. Another nice item is the free container of lemonade in the lobby, would fill my waterbottle with this yummy elixir, sometimes they ran out and used icewater with lemons and limes, still nice. When you have a car, nearby one of my fave late night haunts....Waffle House and other various eateries. Also the hotel is attached to a small mall and across the street from a large, upscale mall. Unfortunately, the walkway bridge was under construction but the hotel would use their shuttle to drive you over and back.
Some downsides of the hotel:
I was on the non smoking floor and could smell smoke in the hallway, thankfully it didn't seep in the room, so used to California and their no smoking laws.
They have 5 elevators and they are so slow.
Since the design of the interior is an atrium set up, the elevators are bunched together and you could walk a ways to get to your room.
Parking was free but I always seem to have found the farthest parking spot.
Women's restrooms near the ballrooms were so warm, anytime of the day or night.
