Nothing but great things to say about this hotel:

    1) It's clean
    2) They have super comfy king-sized beds...man, I could've laid in that bed for the entire day just watching tv and lying around like a princess.
    3) The bathroom was spacious, clean, modernized, and they provide nice fluffy towels. Love it...nothing worse than hotels with nasty bathrooms or towels
4)Free wi-fi if you are an elite member of their hotel franchise...yeah!
    5) Only one small minus....they haven't upgraded to flat screens yet, but that's not a huge problem because there's so many channels, including HBO while lounging in that big bed.

This is definitely a great choice if you need a nice hotel near the airport with all of the nicer amenities.

    Cool***

Have stayed there twice and paid $129/night without tax. Place is old and outdated, stains on the carpets in the rooms, etc. The only plus I like is they use Aveda products in the bathrooms.

Food sucks - I had the Tortilla Soup one day (room service) it was hot but other than that not worth the $6. Concierge Lounge is sub par - have eaten breakfast there twice but quite bad. Oatmeal is the consistency of thick concrete.

I'd recommend the Airport Marriott or the Airport Courtyard instead.

I had quite the unforgettable experience at the Renaissance. After coming back from Europe, I had to stop in Philly before connecting to NYC, only there was one huge problem preventing me from doing that: Hurricane Irene. Thankfully, my gf's mom booked us this place on the flight over from Europe and the shuttle picked us right from the international terminal at Philadelphia International.

Long story short, Irene flooded every access road to the Renaissance. To the point where no foot or vehicular traffic could make it in or not. All the employees were stuck here just like everyone else in the hotel. Even with these conditions, the daily routine of this place continued to go on and everyone, from the front desk folks, to the cleaning staff to the GM, continued to do their jobs diligently and proudly, even though some were stuck in the hotel for 3 days straight. The food stayed up to snuff, room service and cleaning continued to go on without a hitch - even though one of the worst storms in recent memory was whipping around outside.

Eventually I made it out of there, waded through some disgusting flood water and made it to the airport. Some cons definitely are the fact that WiFi isn't free and is not cheap either. Our room, although nice and spacious, had a really small tube TV which I could barely see while sitting on our bed. We also had trouble accessing their in-demand movie service. The phones in our room was seemed to be on the fritz as well. All those cons lead to a star off. However, their indoor pool is pretty sweet, their restaurant has a pretty good menu and the chef seems to know what he/she is doing. The one thing I'll take away from my unlikely visit here was the service. 5 stars all around, they really do go out of their way for you here.

If I can give this hotel negative zero stars, I would. AVOID AT ALL COST!!!!!!! The beds are infested with bed bugs, there are roaches in the tubs, and the toilets have bad water pressure. My company held a meeting at this hotel at this helliacious hotel and these are some of the horror stories to come from it from the bunch of us who had to stay here. the burned out econo lodge down the road next to the dirty book store would have been a safer place to stay at.

I'll probably be one of many people to comment on this fateful weekend. So we arrive of late at night (around 2am) and the hotel was still active and bustling, which is odd, but hey its like 2 minutes from the airport. We dropped our stuff off on the curve and I went to park the car while my boyfriend checked us in. First, I should say the entire hotel is surrounded (And probably built on) by swamp, so getting in and out can be confusing. The hotel buses blocked most of the drop off area, so you couldn't actually drive around it, you had to pull up and then back out. So yes, parking. The parking lot is kind of out of the way and there are no "good" spots, everything is a few minute walk to get from the door to the car. So I park the car, walk back in and my boyfriend is like 'oh, we're on the 3rd floor' and I'm like "...." I have worked in many hotels in my day (pretty much everyone in DC and Baltimore) and I have never seen one before this size that had the meeting rooms and hotel rooms intermingling with no vague concept of security. We were a stones throw away from the main ballroom and who knows what could happen with something like that, but apparently we were still lucky, even if we did end up with beer bottle caps stuck in the wheels of our luggage. Some associates of ours also there for the business meeting had bed bugs in there room, so the hotel moves them to another room on the 2nd floor (again, with meeting rooms, no secularist). This room doesn't have bed bugs, but does have cockroaches in the bathroom.  Before I change topic to the meeting room, let me just make a last comment on our room. The rooms all seem to face the courtyard with the indoor pool, which is great, except for the fact being about 2 floors about it you hear ever. single. cannonball. I'm sorry, but I don't want to hear your 7 year old screaming cannonball fallowed by a loud splash at 9 in the morning.

Anyways, on to the meeting room.
There's a huge lack of wall outlets, and for a meeting expecting about 50-100 people for 8+ hours, we need power for laptops, but I guess you can always pay for drops, but that's expensive. Moving beyond that, everyone 90 minutes or so the floor would start vibrating for a few minutes. It was distracting and nauseating. Apparently it's the hotels washing machines and they make the entire first floor shake. It's hard to be talking about budgets or next big project when the floor below you is shaking and everyone is trying to make sure we're not having some sort of earthquake.

This all being said, I clearly would not return to this hotel, since other people have far worse stories to tell about the place.

I feel like I got very little from the Renaissance Hotel for how much I paid. I was disappointed that they charge for Wifi and the room was expensive.

Another reviewer mentioned a AAA discount. We asked and they said they didn't offer that. We also did not get any chocolates on the bed or anything like that.

We were staying in Philadelphia on our road trip for 2 nights and could have stayed here for that second night. We switched to the Aloft hotel up the road, even closer to the city and got a better deal and way more perks.

For the price this hotel is incredible. I mean I paid under 90 dollars for a night (Thanks AAA!!) The bed was absolutely the most amazing sleep I've gotten in a while, and I didn't realize places still put chocolates on your bed...ORANGE FLAVORED chocolates... Awesome.

    Pros:
-About 10 minutes away from Genos/Pats (enjoy steaks in your room)
-Lots of brochures about things to do
    -incredible bed.
    -Room was spacious

    Cons:
    - Wi-Fi is 9 dollars
    - The restaurant wasn't open the hours that it stated for my stay (I WAS HUNGRY!)
-They don't have any idea of who delivers in the area. (Hong Kong Chinese does fyi)
-the pool was out of order...how does that happen? It worked that morning. boo.

So while the stay was confortable and convient especially for the price, I was pretty irritated that when my munches struck at 11 the restaurant that they claimed to be open till midnight was not. When asking the concierge  what my eating options were they didn't even mention their room service, they said I could go to 7 11 or McDonald's. 5 minutes away. No thank you, I needed delivery and stat.

My recent stay at this hotel was horrible. I reserved a room online for this hotel for New Year's Eve. The check-in process was fast but everything after that went down hill. I went to my room and the keys didn't work properly. After some struggling, I managed to get into my room. After a night on the town around 1am, I came back to the room with my boyfriend and the keys wouldn't work. My boyfriend and I waited to have our issue fixed for the broken door. The manager was OK but not very much accommodating. He stated the only thing he could offer us was another room (hello, my belongings were still in the room) but he suggested that I can get them in the morning. What?!!!  Also, the biggest perk of all was a late check out of 2pm (WOWWWWW!!) I demanded to have the issue fixed ASAP by this time it was 2:30am and getting later and later.

The issue was finally fixed after about an hour. I was totally tired and annoyed and wanted to just leave the hotel. The next morning I was happy to get out of that horrible hotel.

Also, this hotel was cheesy and not very updated. Definitely, not a 4-star hotel at all.

Note: For people coming from out of town, there are wonderful hotels in downtown Philadelphia that are impeccable.  (I am a Philadelphia resident who just wanted a nice weekend at a nice hotel but didn't get it at the Renaissance.)

This is a great hotel if you are wanting to stay by PHL. the rates seemed pretty reasonable for a Renaissance ($160/night).

    The GOOD:
-- It is very close to the airport. There is a free 24-hour shuttle which runs between the hotel and PHL.
    -- Free parking.
-- Hotel offers a reduced internet access charge if you want it 'till Noon instead of all day. This is perfect for those who work during the day.
-- Concierge Lounge on the top floor.
-- Room size was generous. I liked the large bathroom counter so I can lay out all my toiletries.

    The Not-So-Good:
-- No free wi-fi in the Concierge Lounge. The food options aren't that great in the Lounge either.
-- The room service menu was just okay. Besides salmon and seabass, there were no other seafood. Other Renaissance usually will have lobster and/or scallops.
-- The way the parking lot is designed, it's very difficult to get a close parking spot.
-- The hotel doesn't seem as upscale as other Renaissance.
-- There doesn't seem to be much around the hotel. It's located in a business park with nothing around it.

I'd recommend staying in downtown if you want to explore Philly and see what this city has to offer. However, if you want to be able to sleep in and take the shuttle 45 minutes before your flight and run to the gate, this is the perfect hotel.

A surprisingly good hotel located near the airport.

Located off of 291 West, there's a light and differently paved turn-off that leads into the parking lot (which is rather convoluted, and there's a semi-dead end when you first enter, that you have to turn left, then curve around.

Good feng shui with the water pond up front with water lilies all over, ducks, turtles, fish, and a small fountain near the entry.

Inside, the center of the hotel is lit from the very top - 12 floors up - as it is an atrium that reaches to the top floor. Nice spacey area. Gym and business center (for printing tickets and more) is available. Main area has a few tables, coffee/tea and newspapers in the morning.

The rooms are pleasant, clean, and smoke-free. Individual room temperature control, iron, hair dryer, and plenty of towels. A small ethernet hookup. Double-paned windows minimize the airport noise.

Concierge room on the 12th floor for silver or higher members, plus one guest. Even if you have four people in a room (family), you only get one guest. Huh. Boiled eggs, drinks, fruit, cheese, oatmeal in the mornings M-F. At least the lady there was very kind to allow us all to eat.

There was a high school prom there when we attended. No parking except far away...they could've reserved some parking for their actual guests, but I suppose the prom committee paid a fair amount to hold it there, too.

Overall, not a bad place to stay. Consistently a bit cheaper, although no public transit to anywhere but the airport.

the price is good and it's conveniently close to the airport and freeway. Yet the housekeeping is bad... stayed there for 4 nights but my water, coffee, and other complimentary stuff only got refilled once. by the 3rd night I ran out of coffee and the glasses and cups were not replaced with clean ones.  Never stayed in a 3-star and above hotels like this.

I was at the airport, waiting for my flight to leave. I saw people scrambling to get on alternative flights as flights were being canceled left and right. I was thinking to myself, "How unfortunate. It sucks to be them." Then my phone rang and a recording played saying that my flight had been canceled as well. I called US Airways to see what my options were and was told that the soonest flight that I could get on wouldn't leave until the next morning. Rather than joining in the pandemonium, I decided to get a hotel room. It was only about 4 or 5 PM and my flight would not leave until around 10 AM the next day. I have spent a few nights in the airport, but I thought that there was a bit too much time until my flight left the next morning to set up camp in the airport. I went for my best and most convenient option, which was the the Marriott in the airport. I called and the person told me that there were a few rooms available and they were nearly $300, and they only take walk ins. So, I made my way over there only to find out that all the rooms were sold out. I was given a list at the counter with hotels in the area.

I called the Renaissance hotel and reserved a room. The shuttle picked me up and took me to the hotel. The hotel was nice and clean appearing. I had no problem checking in, it was a quick and easy process. I went up to my room, which I found to be perfectly acceptable. I ordered room service: turkey club, mac and cheese, and cheesecake. The food arrived in a timely manner. And much to my surprise, there were some things that I didn't order. There was a small bottle of wine, crackers, and brie cheese. Shortly after, I received a phone call asking if I got everything that I ordered and stating that I was the special ticket of the night and that's why I got the extras. Although the freebies were nice, the food was not very good. The mac and cheese lacked flavor and looked as if it had just been microwaved. The cheesecake did not have good flavor and the consistency was almost that of instant cheesecake. It was edible, but I didn't eat all of it, which says a lot. The turkey club was decent, but that is something that is difficult to mess up. So, I was not too impressed by the food. However, everything else was just fine. I got a good night sleep and hopped on the shuttle the next morning and went to the airport. Unfortunately, my flight was delayed. However, this review is not of US Airways.

I usually expect this brand of Marriott hotel to carry a decent quality...and this one falls a bit short.

Bathroom amenities: zero.  Toilet seat was falling off.

Walked into the room and it was like a sauna.  So I lower the temperature on the thermostat...and hot air pumps out.

To be fair: the beds are comfortable, and the staff tries their best to make your stay comfortable.
