These are MY GIRLS!! So i used to spend $60.00; yes sixty freakin dollars on a Brazilian ( now you all know my business!) and here its ranges from $30-35!! I see that others didnt like their mani/pedi.. but my pedicure happens to last a month at minimum.. And I go everyweek for a poilsh change. But I also tip well and am nice so.....?
i go here regularly, but NOT for the mani/pedi. i must agree that they are pretty bad when it comes to your nails. An average manicure lasts two days before you your nails look shredded, and polish chips. They don't seem to take their time thats for sure.
However, when it comes to waxing, they get an A. I work a block away and when my eyebrows are getting hairy I know I can run over to Relax Nails and they will get the job done in 5 mins. Ive been at least a dozen times and my brows are always perfect ( which is not an easy feat, ha!). They can be a bit rough and no nonsense, but Ive never broken out, and they have never cut corners. Nails, no way, but waxing, highly recommended.
p.s. Ive never seen a salon that doesnt charge more for a french?!
This was one of the worst mani.pedis I have had in the city... for $28 it is certainly not worth your time. Very rarely do I speak up at poor service, but I had to have my toes re-done... they were streaky and goopy. Much better value is Haight Street nails for a quickie/cheapie. For a little more $$ head over to Lavande in Cole Valley... pedi's last as long as your nails do and they include scrubs and massages into the total $35 for mani pedi

Certifiably, the worst mani/pedi I have ever had. Yes, the ladies are nice, but it felt like pressure to tip more. I wanted to tip nothing, since the salon is dirty, they made my cuticles bleed, and they mostly ignored me except when I cried out in pain at the vicious scraping of my toenail beds. Ugh. In all the years I lived around the corner from this place, I made the extra effort to go up to Divisadero nails instead! For the same price you can get a spa chair at several other (cleaner) salons around the city, which means there is no excuse for the crappy little foot tubs this place uses.
UPDATE, MARCH 2006: They got a bit of a makeover so now they have spa chairs. Fine. Passable. But the technicians are still unskilled and have sloppy tendencies, like making you pay after your nails are wet, and neglecting the moisturizing/hot towels portion of the manicure.

I GOT THE WORST PEDICURE OF MY LIFE HERE!!!
If you want a pedicure that (from the moment your feet hit the water to the time you put on your flip flops) lasts only 15 minutes, then this is the HOLE you've been looking for. Would you like for your nails to be whacked into varying shapes and lengths, your cuticles completely ignored, and your heals to have a pumace passed over them as one might pass a closed bottle of vermouth over a dry martini? You'll strike fool's gold here.
One star is too good for this place, it should be blasted out of the galaxy.

The ladies here are super nice. If you come often and make an effort to talk to them they will remember you. The manis and pedis are pretty cheap, but they charge $3 more for the french manicure --many salons do not. I must say they give the fastest mani and pedi =30 minutes flat.

Generic, kind of crappy nail place, but it's cheap ($8 mani). However, today my technician spoke NO English besides "hello" and "round or square", they made me pay with wet nails, and the polish is streaky. Plus, I was the only customer in the salon and all three women working there talked to each other the entire time. I don't expect spa service for dirt cheap, but I do expect at minimum servicable nails. The mani didn't last long and looked like I did it myself.
Walk up Haight to Haight Nails, which is about the same price but 10,000x better. There is no reason why a cheap mani has to be a bad mani.
Super cheap manis and pedis. You may not be sitting in a giant massage chair while you're feet are soaking in a tub of rose petals and lemons, but your finger and toe nails will definitely look great when you leave. I've never tried their waxing services, so I can't really comment on that, but the ladies who work here are incredibly nice!
For a cheap, quick mani/pedi that lasts long and looks great, this will work. It is one of the only manis I've had that didn't cause my cuticles to peel into hangnails a few days afterward. The ladies are nice, and the price is very low.
If you're used to being pampered, you might want to go to lavande down the street. The ladies at Relax speak loudly in a different language, laughing and yelling across the room the ENTIRE time. One of the spa chair backs is broken but they'll put you in it anyway. The water is usually too hot and when you complain, they make it freezing cold. And this has happened more than once. I live 1/2 block away so I've stopped in to get a quick mani-pedi way too many times. It's the same every time. And the shoppers on haight street peer into the large glass store front while you're getting your pedicure, making you feel like a zoo specimen. A snooty zoo specimen that gets off on little Asian women bowing at your feet.
