I love REI...the employees are so friendly and they really enjoy helping people out and getting the gear they need.  I was here looking for some North Face gear and I was able to find a great deal for a birthday gift.  They have a huge selection of North Face upstairs and I love how the store is so spacious!  I also like how they have a great selection online and it's free shipping with an order of $50+.  I'm definitely thinking about joining the club because a lifetime membership is only $20...woo hoo!  I love deals and great buys and I think REI is the best place to get all your sports stuff.

I also remember my friend telling me that she was trying to get deals on snowboarding passes (back in Cali for Lake Tahoe and other places) and she told me you can get great deals at REI.

REI is practically like my second home during spring time. I am a huge fan of this place because of their rockin' customer service. I do several outdoor sports including kayaking, backpacking and rock climbing.

The people that work at REI are incredibly knowledgeable. I would suspect that most are outdoor junkies that work there for the discount. I like their 100% satisfaction guarantee. I recently returned a small knife there that I had for about a year. The design of the bottle opener on it was pretty terrible and it just took me a long time to get around to returning it, not a problem though.

Did you know that they also rent equipment there too?!? Kayaks are an expensive investment and so I have rented a kayak there to try it out before I bought it. The process was straightforward and easy. You can rent backpacking gear though before making the plunge as well.

Being a co-op member is worth every penny in my opinion. It is a lifetime membership for $20, but for me the value comes from them handling my account electronically. I don't have to jack with actual coupons or paper. They are able to apply dividends and my coupon all through their computer system. Being a member also tracks my purchases so I don't have to deal with receipts when it comes to returns. I would pay $20 for that kind of service at anywhere I shop regularly. Don't know why other stores don't do it.

I have been to a couple of REI "garage sales" where they sell the returned gear and sometimes at RIDICULOUS prices! You have to get there early and sometimes it is a windfall, other times you may not find anything you need.

They also have little seminars for the public on various outdoor things. Most are all of them are free. It is nice to have a place in the community that offers that.

I am surprised that Elite Yelper that supposedly has credibility would give REI 3 stars for everything in the store being so "brown" and "boring". Yeah it is true, most outdoorsy people don't don American Apparel type attire out in the woods. We go to be a part of nature, not assault it with hipster-ness. Not surprised though since they probably think an alcohol stove runs on margaritas.

Great store for outdoor gear stuff. I just went here to get some vibram finger shoes though. First time I got the ones with the lil grippies on the bottom, but I ended up switching for the ones with the smooth bottoms instead. The return policy for Vibrams at the REI store is impeccable. You are able to return it, for any reason, at anytime I believe. So the switch was painless, and I actually had money left over surprisingly.

The employee's I spoke to, seemed to enjoy their job and provided great insight to my random inquiries. Always a plus.

Not a regular at REI, just stopped by to pick up a "FitBit" personal tracker...fairly knowledgeable staff, store doesn't feel very "up-to-date", but again, maybe that's not what they are aiming for at REI.

They sell the membership hard...really hard. I understand that it's a really great deal, but hearing the long sales pitch twice is a little much...

Sad to say, but I have become accustomed to employees not knowing a whole lot about what they sell--technology type stores especially but just in general, shouldn't the employees be experts at least in the area of the store in which they work?

Anyhoo, not a worry at REI.  Lady in the backpack department?  Knew the answers to everything we could possibly ask.  Dude in the shoes department?  Knew exactly what we needed AND found the perfect ones for us, on sale/clearance in the back that weren't even on display!! These people want you to get the right stuff for your adventure, not just get your money.

Because of the great people and goods for sale, we went a little overboard for our recent vacation but their return policy for members is pretty great and I know the stuff we bought will last a long time.

I normally shop at places like Academy for outdoor stuff, but I will definitely come back to REI when I know I'll need some assistance selecting just the right tool for the job.

Excellent outdoor store. REI even makes their own quality gear at competitive prices. Have had wonderful experiences at all their stores. If you're a regular then you might want to checkout their credit card (gives you a certain percent toward REI of every dollar spent anywhere).

I seem to be piggybacking off of Ryan Bs reviews today. I keep seeing his reviews and think "I know that place!" Anyways I love REI. I went in for Christmas browsing and since I was an REI member from a previous trip in, I got a sweet 20% off of any item over 100 bucks. I got my luggage for my trip to germany, and I got a great day backpack for going out around the towns over there.

The staff was very helpful with helping me with my big rolling luggage and my backpack. I explained what I was doing and where I was going and they helped recommend me the best equipment for what I needed. Not the most expensive but what I needed. You know you have a good salesperson when they are frank with you and say "you don't want to pay extra money for this one, this is a lot better price and better for what you need." They were patient and friendly. I asked if they had some kind of laptop sleeve to protect my laptop in my backpack, I described it horribly! But the guy nodded and took me right to what I needed. They were awesome.

Then when I get to the checkout with my things the cashier recommended I "sign up a friend" to get another 20% off of my other 100 dollar item. He didn't have to recommend that but he did.

Their stuff is well made and all of it is warrantied for life. If it breaks, bring it in and they'll either fix it or replace it.

*Yawn* Everything in this store is very brown. They carry fishing things, skiing things, hiking things, boating things, camping things and other various sporting things...all in brown, or camo, or black.
An impressive rock climbing wall greets you on the way in...but that's where the excitement ends. I was so boreeeeddd.  I could tell the employees were too, as they had no personality and seemed very unhappy to help me beyond a "yes" or "no".

I will give them props for carrying ONE ski jacket in an XL (sidenote: it is impossible to find ski clothes anywhere in an XL)....and this being the ski jacket I was forced to end up with.  The prices were higher than most places I looked, but I'll blame that on their 100% Satisfaction Guarantee.  Apparently, if any of the things I bought at REI end up broken, damaged or defective (even if it's my fault), they will replace, fix it or refund it free of charge.  This is pretty cool....but being the kind of person that doesn't freak out over a tiny tear, and also won't be wearing this ski jacket more than three times in the next few years, I don't see myself abusing this privilege (I feel as though I paid for with inflated prices) anytime soon.

Maybe the first story (camping, hiking and so forth) of this two story building was more useful than the second.  Upstairs I found a dismal selection of ski/board pants, jackets in bland colors, next to no long underwear selection, and a larger selection of overly expensive middle layers.  There were a few pairs of shoes I would only even consider wearing in the mud, and a decent selection of boring hats and socks.

I'm going to go take a nap.

Bruce the store manager took 15 minutes to help me look for the right GPS watch. He showed me all the options and answered every single lame question I had. He even helped me find the color I wanted!  Great customer service and they had the watch on sale cheaper than I could find on the Internet!

Yes, I like to shop here.... not for clothes , but for camping gear and some neat-o accessories. Yes, I said accessories, here's my man card. I got talked into buying their Co-op membership, so hopefully I get a nice discount when I get my bike fixed up here some time soon.

I like the new face of the store front.

REI is awesome every time we visit. The people working there are soooo helpful and friendly. During our trip today, the guy behind the counter was not friendly, but I'll still give a full 5 stars.

I love that everything is 100% guaranteed at REI. We were upgrading our tent size (since we received the smaller size as a gift) and even though we used it twice, they gladly took it back and gave us store credit towards a bigger one. Being members, you get all kinds of perks throughout the year and once a year you get a dividend return.

    Awesome! :)

Hi my name is Sean and I have a problem. I'm a REI shopaholic.

The greatest thing about REI is the service, without a doubt. At most national chain stores I don't usually bother asking the staff where to find certain items because frankly, they wouldn't know anyways. But at REI, they almost always know where stuff is located, even if it's the most minor of things. Not only that, but the people who are stationed at particular areas (backpacks, shoes, bikes, etc) really know their stuff. They will take the time to walk you through the things they have and you might need, and practice extreme patience. I never feel pressured by some up-selling tactics, and they won't try to sell you things you don't need. They'll be honest with their opinions (not everything in the store is 100% awesome, although many things are) and recommend against certain things if they truly feel it won't meet your needs.

Lifetime satisfaction guarantee for REI members is a HUGE perk, and flexible return policies are great, since most equipment you'll never be able to know if it works well for you until you actually try it out. They understand. They camp/hike/bike too...

Can't say enough about the greatness of the store except that their Denver location is CRAZY AWESOME. I would live there if I could, but they'd probably find me in one of their demo tents eventually.

I first got hooked circa 1996 when I lived in Austin.  For men, this is like a kid going to a candy store.  Women, for your spouse (if they like outdoorsey stuff and camping), it may even fix your partners ED problems....

When the '97 sundowner shoe first came out, I was in line to get it.    The smell of leather...mmm....or the goretex....mmmm...Sidebar, Anyway, I took back three (3) pairs of them b/c they would "squeek"  when I walked.  They fully stand by their 100% guarantee.  The dude that sold me the pair even tried them on.  He was like...I'll get another pair right away.  He actually tried them on before I tried them on.

The rebate program is awesome too.  Most of my rebate I use to buy a backpack or, more recently a roller bag.  Yes...I spend that much money.  I never knew what a "high" you could get from shopping until I married my wife.  Yes I was a tight wad all those years.

Sales folks are very helpful at this store. Product selection and availability vary depending on what you're looking for and the location. I find that their sale prices are great whenever products go to clearance. Another plus is that if you can't find what you're looking for at the store or if you find a great deal online, you can order it from http://REI.com and have it delivered to the store for free.

It's an old REI so it's not the prettiest of stores - but who cares... I got my big ass Lowe Alpine backpack for 80 bucks. I absolutely love it, i take it all over the planet.

Check out their sales - you can score some awesome stuff. Friendly knowledgable staff to help you whenever you need it. I think it's cheaper than Galyan's in Frisco. Ugh, Frisco is way too far anyway.

I've been an REI shopper in other cities, but the staff at this store takes the cake!  The nice lady in the cycling department helped me pick out the perfect shoes and cleats for my ride and was so helpful in finding what I needed.  Thanks for the great experience and keep up the good work, folks!

I am an REI fan. Great for camping and hiking gear. If you are looking for gear for outside adventures that are not of the camping hiking tilt, I might recommend a more specialty shop (eg. a running store or a biking store). But for the general granola of the earth (Boulder, Colorado) type stuff, REI is awesome. They especially have a good selection of a wide variety of backpacks for climbing, hiking, camping, etc.

Did you know some cities actually don't have an REI? Oh the Humanity! Great gear: I outfitted exclusively at REI Dallas for my solo Grand Canyon rim-rim and back (5 days, 50 miles) and loved every piece and not one bit of advice on gear selection wasn't spot on. However, being a bike snob, I'd probably head to a 'real' bike shop if I was in the market for wheels.

I love this store it is just a great place to buy all your outdoor gear.  They have great information and insight about so many outdoor activities in your area.  The staff is always very helpful about any and all of their products.  I had a question about a product I already owned and the staff went above and beyond what was needed to answer all of my questions even though it wasn't going to garner a sale. I am grateful for the friends who turned me on to this place and I will shop here for my outdoor needs.  I can't wait to get back in the store to get all my summer camping needs taken care of.
