This is definitely a great beach to go to..
it's pretty busy and packed when it's hot out.
parking is really hard to find.
they have plenty of different shops to go to.. from ice cream places, hot dogs, popcorn, junk food, gift shops, henna tattoo shops, candy shops, and they even sell hermit crabs there!
the beach itself is really nice.. sand is clean, water is cold.. but it's definitely nice when it's hot out.. they have umbrella rentals.. and the best part, they actually have lifeguards on duty! I'm used to the California beaches where it's every man or himself!
I'd definitely come back here.. this beach is also known for their gay community, the rumor is.. they come to this particular beach a lot.. i don't know why, but it's nice!
You're 12 years old going on 22, you've got a crumpled up $20 bill in your pocket from your mom for "ice cream" and "hermit crabs" from one of the hundreds of gift shops on the boardwalk, and a Jansport backpack (on one shoulder only, of course) covered with iron on patches. You and your cousin Wes pay your $1 fees to the Jolly Trolly and head in the direction of teen angst and rebellion.
There are cute surfer boys and punk rockers loitering around everywhere, but your dumb cousin is cramping your style. They probably think he's your boyfriend, so you punch him in the arm to let it be known you are not "going out."
Ice cream quickly becomes a silver chain wallet, while hermit crabs morph into jungle green hair dye from a 2nd story head shop. You and your cousin sing Green Day and Offspring songs out loud, hoping that other "cool kids" will notice how tragically cool you both are too. Unfortunately, it's not actually cool to let other people know that they're cool, so nobody says anything to anyone. Thank goodness the 90's are halfway over at this point. Apathy can't be trendy forever.
