I love this theater.  partially because i live 4 blocks away, and partially because it's a good deal period.

$11 for a movie is cheap these days, but $7.75 is even better which is what you would pay if you bought the saver tickets from costco (no restrictions).  Pair that with the regal movie club which gets you $1 candy on mondays and $1 popcorn on tuesdays and it's a night out with popcorn for two for just $16.50.  i will say that everything else in the snack bar is really expensive but that's what you'll find virtually anywhere else.

Sure there's no assigned seats, but that's what you would pay a premium for.  You get the newest movies, in sweet theaters with super comfy seats, and stacked snack bars.

And for those complaining about the $5 parking, the pico blue line stop and the 7th street red line stop are just blocks away.

After tonight's dinner, my boy and I punched "Ninja Assassin" into the iPhone Flixster application, and saw that it was 1.1 miles to the Regal Cinemas downtown. Being in the high sixties in December (gotta love not living in PA anymore), we decided to make a walk of it. After all, we had forty minutes.

Walking to the Regal is more enjoyable than driving through that area, simply because it's slower. You get to look around. Christmas lights are impressively setup, the glowing billboards remind you of Times Square sans foot traffic, and the policeman in the middle of the road directing traffic to/from some sporting event simply made it seem even more cliche' big city nightlife. It was kinda neat.

The cinema itself makes an impression from the outside. It's massive, modern, and the lighting display itself was just bright and exciting. Set the tone for an action movie quite well.

The young lady who took our tickets was friendly and gave us a big smile, chatted for ten seconds playfully as we entered. I should have made a note of her name in case her bosses are reading this. I always want to do that. She was black, young, attractive, fit, late teens early twenties, and working 12/1 at 7:40pm. Super sweet and made a great impression on two first-timers to this location.

The interior was, simply, the nicest I've been to, ever. Big, spotless, classy, contemporary. Just gorgeous. I hardly pay attention to movie theaters, you've seen one you've seen 'em all... but this one stood out. I liked it a lot.

Bottom line; it's a mile away, and unless I have a damned good reason (ie. immobile/lazy friends), I intend to see every movie I see, here.

The newest and final addition to the LA Live entertainment complex downtown, this multi-screen theater opened a couple of weeks ahead of its original schedule in order to screen the premier of "This Is It" (the Michael Jackson movie).  It's a huge complex, with 13 screens on 2 floors and a separate, larger-capacity (800+ seat) theater intended to house movie premiers (the first one will be "2012).

The building is big and shiny, but otherwise it's pretty much like a shopping mall movie multiplex, not particularly interesting architecturally or decoratively. The seats are large, they bounce, and they're very comfortable.  Views from all the stadium seating spots are excellent. The screens are large and the sound is very good.

Prices: currently, $11/adult, $8.50/child.   Snack bars on the main and 3rd floor, but take advantage of the dining options around the theater to eat before or after the movie, because the popcorn etc for your group will probably end up costing you several limbs.

Went to see 2012 on theater # 1 ( the biggest one of all the 14 and specifically made for red carpet/movie premieres).  Stadium seating, hi-tech movie screen....Love it!  The only thing I hate is $5 for parking and that is WITH validation already.  Seriously, $5?  This place is just exactly a mile away from me. But if they don't give a better rate with the parking fee I might as well go to the Grove or Americana which has more options for shopping(which LA live does NOT have)/dining (its pricier here in LA Live restaurants) and not just for movie watching.

Finally, a good movie theater downtown!
I LOVE this theater!

I went to this theater yesterday. The staff was friendly (they are all new and excited it is open!) It is big, the bathrooms are clean and up-to-date with the newest technology in hand-dryers. Also, the seats in the theaters are AMAZING! So so so comfortable. It feels as though you are leaning back in a recliner!

The people at the ticket counter encouraged me to enroll in their frequent movie watcher program.  It's awesome and really does make you want to go to this theater, so you can rack up points and get free popcorn, soda, and movie tickets.

I am so glad I don't have to drive all the way to Hollywood or the Grove anymore to have a good movie experience.  This theater is great and parking is reasonable for LA ($5 for four hours if you have it validated at the theater).

Good food, friendly staff, clean, GREAT seats, and downtown at LA Live! What more could we ask for? Go check it out!

I love this theatre! Its a great addition to downtown. Prices are the same as other theatres, which is great. You have L.A. Live right around the corner to grab a meal before or after the movie. Its a real easy to find parking as they have lots and garages all around L.A. Live. For the theatre parking (must get it validated) park on Olympic and Francisco. Its right across from the theatre. I got dinner at ESPN Zone and then caught THIS IS IT in their "Premiere House" which was an experience in itself. I am excited to see some of the new releases in 3D as I was able to get a glimpse of their 3D technology. It's the best I have seen in any theatre.

Check out the theatre and L.A. Live. I am excited to see downtown come alive with these additions!

It's new so everything is nice. They only check your ticket when you walk in so there's plenty of opportunity to theatre hop. I'm going to see a movie in the premiere house to check that out too. Video and sound are ok but not great. Arclight and Pacific Theatres are better with that. Parking is expensive, which is the main drawback.

As a current USC student, the Regal Cinemas at LA Live couldn't be more convenient. Only a couple of miles from campus, the cinemas have comfortable chairs, a vast selection of films and not a bad seat in the house. They just had a "USC night" las night and besides being packed, it was a cool experience with great discounts for students. I also heard you can start buying tickets at the student union ticket office at a cheaper price, definitely worth checking out and definitely better then heading over to the UV theater. I also recommend taking advantage of the free shuttle that leaves from the lab or the 9-0.
