OH. DAMN.
OH.
DAMN.
A damn great course.
A gawd-damn-great-freakin-course.
I FUCKEN LOVE RED HAWK!!
That's all I'm gonna say.
*I might be Black but I'm no Tiger Woods*
My one and only T.W. moment came on the 165 yard, par 3, 17th hole. I decided to go with a 5 iron and use the custom made NIKE ball that had my boys initials (JTF) stamped on it... Jared is getting married later this month and this was his bachelor party... or at least the beginning of it ;0) I put the ball on the tee, lined it up, trying to drown out my boy J, "don't lose my ball.. you've already hit 5 houses", the 10+ other golfers watching, and praying to God, "Dear Lord Jesus, don't let me lose this ball... even if I hit a house let it bounce back into the rough, Amen" ;0) I swing, hit the ball dead on, keeping my head down (I don't want to see it fly into the water) then I hear, "holy shit it looks good!" I look up and damn it looks pretty ;0) my tee shot lands within 10 feet of the hole.
"Thank you Jesus for not letting me lose my 15th golf ball of the day"!
I've been told Redhawk is the 3rd hardest golf course in southern Cal... and also one of the best public courses in California. Pretty nice knowing that Redhawk is where my golfing career began... hope the next course can come some what close!
Redhawk is pretty expensive, in my book... I believe it's $83 on the weekend, before noon, if you are not a member.
Tip: whatever you do, try not to hit it in the bunkers.... I thought it was cool the first time until they told me I had to rake the sand wherever I stepped.. 10 minutes later the sand box was raked.. I walked all over it.
Oh and it's not cool to hit the houses... as funny as it is, they can sue you if you break a window... if I had busted a window I would have been caught pretty quick... given I was the only Black person in a 20 mile radius. ;0)

You might want to wait a month to come here, as the greens are kinda slow from previous punching, although they look nice. Rough is punched currently with big dirt clods everywhere. Fairways are pretty dormant. Tee boxes are great as well as the layout. I would recommend this place when it is at a better condition, but right now I'd stay away, although you can get good deals right now due to the current course condition.
If you're family or loved ones are wasting away the family fortunes or pensions at Pechanga casino, you can come to Redhawk Golf Club and waste away 5 hours playing the game of golf.
Just seconds away from Pechanga casino and minutes away from the 15 freeway, Redhawk is one of the most challenging courses in Southern California. Luckily for everyone there are tees for every skill level.
The clubhouse is beautiful, a Spanish themed hacienda. And the golf is pretty cheap too. Whenever I play, I play a twilight round, which usually costs around $50 with a cart. Pricier than most munis, but Redhawk is a beautiful course with a few flaws though. I'll mention that later.
The course is immaculate, challenging and beautiful. It runs through a huge housing development. And that is the flaw. You will find yourself crossing through residential streets in order to move on to the next hole. It's weird and awkward, going through your round and then going through someone's driveway towards your next hole.
Other than that, there are some really nice holes here...starting with the long Par 5 1st hole. But the real beauty here are the Par 3's...there's an island green Par 3, that reminds me a little of TPC Sawgrass, except that it plays to 180 from the black tees. There is also a long, ultra downhill Par 3 on the back 9. This is a pro style, tournament course...I usually prep here before big tournaments.
Redhawk is on the intersection of Marguerite and Wolf Creek. I think, but there's Google Maps to prove me wrong. The course is usually empty and the staff there are always helpful. Other than the course, there is a cute cantina for your 19th hole drink.

Redhawk Golf Course is an excellent course located in Temecula.
It has a signature par three ninth hole.
Water surrounding an island green and an "old english style" stone bridge linking the green and fairway.
A really, really beautiful golf hole.
The course is challenging but wide enough so the houses located near the fairways do not intrude on your play.
There is water on a number of the holes and a large number of sandtraps and you find that you most often have to fly a set of traps for a direct shot to the pin..
You will find a "hacienda" styled clubhouse and a cantina for that much needed drink on the 19th. hole.
The staff was extremely courteous and helpful.
We got discounted tee times and paid $50.00 to play at 11AM. An excellent value for the quality of this course.
The rains stayed away long enough for us to finish the round and a better day of golf could not have been found.
Search out Redhawk - it is really easy to find off interstate 15
..... and you will be glad you played here.
This is one of Southern Californias finest courses.
